  1. Below, Courtesy of Speedway Updates is my only source of the actual event that saw poor Lewis requiring medical treatment. Get well soon Lewi and lets see you on the track as soon as possible as you have come on leaps and bounds. That said a rule I have been told of this year is that if any accident occurs, only the team manager, mechanic and team captain can visit the incident. I will stand corrected on this and hope any one with more knowledge will provide details. Would this not firstly put in place why Robert could not actually see how Lewis was? A point that I have raised with friends on more than one occasion is why are so many non participating riders allowed in the pits? Was Lewis Bridger mechanic for Lewis Rose? If not are all close friends of any rider allowed in the pits, this will be great for me as I will be allowed in every pits on the globe from now on If Lewis Bridger did assault Robert Lambert then he must be dealt with harshley, I have no axe to grind with Lewis Bridger but we have to remove this disgusting behaviour from speedway, it is after all a family sport. Last word for Lewis Rose, once again get well soon. Heat 10: Worrall, Lambert, Priest, Rose (FX) 2-4 38-21 Line Up: Lambert, Rose, Worrall, Priest Comments: Lambert forced out wide in the 1st turn due to not making the gate and almost comes off by clipping the fence. Very unusual for him. Lambert gets pass Priest lap 2. Rose moves out appearing to try and let Lambert past during lap 3 but Rose comes off on bend 4 lap 3. Being seen to by medics now. Swindon 2013

Forget Sky money, now Speedway has made it big time with headlines like http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/speedway/23810172
  3. It is very simple for qualification!!!!!!!! Who wants to play???????? Several teams deem this as a fiasco tournament, which it actually is. Until the format change they dont want to play and why should they. BSPA are not doing any favours to any team or the sport. Until the promoters start to listen to the fans its down hill. Watch this space as several teams will be on the brink before the season ends. Mr.Secsy1 has found a wicked way to find out.
  4. Having a a top heavily paid and average No.1 does not help when team building. It does not allow finances for mainstream tried and tested riders who demand more than a few young Aussie kids who will manage on less to try to make that break. Afternoon speedway in the UK when the sun actually shines is a no goer. Dont matter how often its watered, it drys and conditions for the riders are awkward. Early evening 6.00 is a good time or standard evening racing 7.30, track staff can deal with conditions easier as the sun goes down, unless your at Buxton waiting for it to come up! Hope Harley is okay, bright young prospect in a gloomy Glasgow season.

    Kent 2013

Typical response from a head in the sand protagonist against new talent. The riders at Kent are not trainees. As for following speedway, with fans like you I am not suprised that English lads give up early due to uneccesary criticism. I will not post further on this topic and will not be bated. Come on Kent Kings.

    Kent 2013

Well it seems you are out of touch with how riders progress these days, but not a lot of difference from your yardstick exists with the current crop of Kent Kings. Basically they stuggle to buy a bike and rely on parents and friends to chip in and help. Visit various training schools country wide learnings and gaining experience at great expense. Possibly they enter junior or amatuer meetings building their skill level and spending more money. If they are lucky, possibly they get an opportunity to ride in SJL, MDL or AJL meetings for free and spending a lot more money. Next they are chosen and have the opportunity to ride at National League level and are a bit overawed initially by the experience and settle down and become the riders on the way to Premier level and even Elite League racing. These are the bread and butter riders, but we do have exceptions with a special given talent who move from basics to top in a couple of seasons. Hope this puts to bed your current misconceptions about todays speedway and to everyone who pays to go to National League Speedway it is true honest lads trying their best. Good luck to all at Kent Kings Speedway for giving the youngsters opportunities, you will benefit in the long run. To all you WHINERS give it a rest or better still get down there and see some speedway.

    Kent 2013

So its simple in terms of business eh, get a grip. What you are intimating is that if Benji does not perform in 7 rides he also will be out of work? Realism is that the management bottled it. Every new fan who went will be dumbfounded at the decision, but eh Di Matteo was booted out for failing. Ahhhhhh but the owner is a billionaire and not adverse to throwing his toys out and getting his own way. Good luck Benji, hope you do well and David, with contacts like the ones who sold you out you know what to do!!!!!!!!!!

    Season Start

Rugby League changed to summer to try to improve on crowds and not compete with football, but its gone backwards over the last few years. It still goes by the its a summer rugby but thats utter rubbish. Football wants a break in winter as its too cold, meaning the season will encroach on summer. Speedway is traditionally a type of good weather sport, but we dont have that much good weather. Bottom line is 30 years ago we had summer, autumn, winter and spring. The climate has changed and anyone who thinks it hasnt only has to look over the last 5 years. Probably a lot will think that a season from end of April to early September is far too short, but if restructuring and business sense was applied it would be sound business sense. B
  10. Here is the apathy of British speedway. Everyone moans, groans and shouts about opportunitys for riders and here we have a prime example that no one cares enough to report about it when they do. Hope every rider did well, learned something and left the meeting as they arrived
  11. Better to talk sense as opposed to nonsense here. Firstly at this time of the year and the weather conditions, where have they had time to practise? Riders have to race on wet or dry tracks, rutted up ones or smooth ones, grippy or slick ones and the only way to do this is get on with it and dont whinge. If we had to wait for a decent track as you mention, probably half the meetings in a year would never take place. These youngsters learn by mistakes, who never made one?

    Stoke 2013

Both rider and management here now have points to prove. 2 rides to get a team place, well good luck in the real world and on those results in the dream world will be world champion after dozen meetings. Management have to be comended on their persistance, they got a World Champion in their eyes. Hope the happy marriage bears fruit and both have a great season.

    Ukspeedwayseries

Why not keep this as a totally British rider championship. Give the lads a chance, instead of paying over the odds appearance money for some over the top riders on a meal ticket. Enough of them in the Elite at present who dont care about anyone but themselves. This is an ideal opportunity to bring through the British talent and let the fans see them, associate with them and get behind them.

    The Start Of The Decline

Basically all sports are forms of entertainment. Irrespective of 2 or 4 valves, laydowns or uprights, racing is racing. From the late 20s through to now, every decade it has been reported that speedway is in decline or dying. But it is still here irrespective of the format. Personally the main problem at the present is the presentation and continuity of the meetings. Many new people who are introduced to the sport dont care about the silly rules, but are intoxicated by the sight of 4 riders displaying fearless skills to win races. Last year on several occasions I introduced first timers to the sport and goodness me they still go. But as they began to grasp the silly rules and time delays between racers their disillusion became apparent, but the spectacle of the racing presently maintains their interest that they still go.............but for how long?

    Sheffield 2013

Well if it is a full house of spectators required, only one team fits the bill to bring the most and the controversy that will follow the meeting...............DUDLEY.

    Comets In Trouble

Last Saturday afternoon Workington AFC played away at Brackley in the Blue Square North Football League, Saturday night Workington Comets rode against Glasgow and Sunday afternoon Workington Town RLFC played an elimination match against bitter rivals Whitehaven RLFC. Anyone who thinks the combined 3 did not affect the attendance on Saturday night is a fool. In the present economic climate punters pick and chose where they want to spend there hard earned cash and value for money entertainment. Some will pay over the odds for the Speedway fix, but others want to be entertained and a sense of value for money. Never one to critisize promoters as they try the best (for themselves, it is a business to them) but until they all realise as many say that the Sport needs a COMPLETE OVERHAUL and knuckle down to dealing with it instead of continually burying their heads in the sand, then next season will see only a handful of clubs in 1 league and even fewer supporters.

    Young Stars

Common Sense and Speedway are so distant, that is the reason why so many fans have given up on the sport. As for Mr.Morrish, he and certain promoters dictate what happens, now that is common sense or is it knowledge?

    Dudley Heathens

Hope that this news doesnt effect any deliberations with future planning. Sorry to hear about it as have visited on several occasions prior to the speedway and always a great day out. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-19535750

    Dudley Heathens

Well if you read the article where it states 'Impossible situation' From next year the museum will also lose a £70,000 a year grant from Dudley Council. The council made the decision to withdraw funding in March because it needs to save £13m from its own budget. So if Dudley Heathens `were` looking for any type funding through the Council towards a Stadium it looks like the budget could affect them?
  21. The reality is no British rider deserves a `Wild Card for the GP series`. The best performing Brits this year are 1. Richie Worral-but one step beyond at the present, but a definite future prospect. 2. Josh Auty-suspect at gating but preverbial racer and trier, needs support to achieve it. 3. Ben Barker-more deserving than Tai at present and more reliable. Only my opinions for what they are worth, but why must a British rider be in it if they are not up to standard required. We have many foriegn riders who have ridden or still ride in the GP`s who fans can relate to and would still follow the series. In 2-3 years time the British riders in the system will have evolved and become more dedicated to their sports with the goal of winning far out weighing the need to be tarts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. When the entire sporting world wakes up to whats happening with peoples finances and lack of them, then and only then will attendances for all sporting events improve in the UK. The Bank Holiday staging was a mistake from the start for the Britiish GP, so much going on and to compound matters Swansea playing at home and the Twenty20 Cricket finals in Cardiff. Before all berate me, we all know that many speedway fans, even the diehards do enjoy other sports outside speedway and with so much going on it is understandable that the crowd is down by so many this year. Moving forward a complete re think on the staging date is necessary, so that it can attract as many supporters as possible and at a particular time that it does not compete against so many other events. But the most important factor is pricing, this in no uncertain terms has a direct influence on the crowd size. This combined with lack of presentation of the product are main factors in my opinion. Today a rather insignificant football fixture takes place at Shielfield Park in the Scottish Third Division as far as I am concerned, but it has been brought to my attention at least. Berwick Rangers will play Rangers, the resurected team from the once Scottish giants Rangers. It has captured the attention of all and sundry around Berwick, who will no doubt have a record crowd, the price for a ticket has been stated as £10. Sure some rogues will try to make a fast buck but what a experience of a lifetime for some of the Berwick fans and also some who never normally go. Bottom line is, a Quarter full stadium at £50 a ticket and poor atmosphere or a full Stadium at £20 a ticket, with the other 75% additional fans is the spending power during their attendance and much more than that, the atmosphere. But hey, this is never going to happen, this is British Speedway!

    Mildenhall V Dudley Sun 19th Aug 16:30

Unfortunately Dudley do have a section of over exuberant supporters that do need to be rounded up and in no uncertain terms warned about their behaviour at Speedway. No one can question their loyalty as the crowds at Monmore reflect this, but to alienate other supporters to the extent that they do not attend meetings is wrong. It is time that Stewards or Police evict any trouble maker at Speedway and make it the once safe haven for any family to attend without having to run the gauntlet of abuse or threat.

    Rye House 2012

Spot on Rocket Ben. As you mention, lifestyle and girls tend to be the main pursuit of all our youngsters. Ultimately the main problem lies with the riders themselves for not progressing, attitude and commitment. Fancy websites, clothing and generally looking the part are not an excuse. Everyone rabbits on about money, money, money, no opportunitys - well wake up an smell the methanol. More opportunitys than ever exist to progress now than ever before. Its not up to BSPA, Individual tracks or what ever excuse is put up, its down to the individual and their commitment.
  25. It just shows how opinions can be so different. First visit to Monmore after 7 years and considering the weather in surounding districts, it was amazing how good the track condition was, that said what a poor display from the referee. No continuity of racing, forget the falls. To see the lads straight back to the pits every time a race was stopped, not because anyone was hurt, who knows for what. The finish time had very little to do with the stoppages, it was all down to a poorly ran meeting. Ask the numerous Wolves and even several Dudley fans who left at 10pm. It was great to see Joe Haines win and surely a much needed confidence booster. Tom Perry was the rider of the night and desperately unlucky. It was well worth the tenner, but wont be going to another BSPA staged event.
