Not really much help but the Ipswich programme for the 4th meeting of the 1981 series (7th May) lists Les Collins scoring 0 at Swindon in 1980. They only give the individual scores, no indication of number of rides taken unfortunately.

Many thanks for your help

I also have an unfilled programme for 01/09 A V Sweby's Team v. D Gray's Team, so can't confirm it actually took place.

This fixture wasn't covered in Speedway Star but by all accounts a programme was produced and the meeting went ahead.
Can anyone tell me who the winner was?
-
I have been referencing the tables as published on the SGB website so I assume they have been taken from the same source. Thanks for clearing that up.
-
And so I stagger manfully towards the final season in my results gathering project.
First of all I need to confirm Northern League results between Birmingham and Norwich as I have a race point kicking somewhere:
08/06 Birmingham 43 - 41 Norwich and 17/08 Birmingham 28 - 55 Norwich
15/06 Norwich 58 -26 Birmingham and 20/07 Norwich 52 - 31 Birmingham
-
Just now, norbold said:Sorry, you were too fast for me. I did delete my second paragraph when I realised what you'd written before!
No worries. It's sorted and confirmed so that's what counts

12 minutes ago, BL65 said:The Cradley Hearth v Wombwell match in the Midlands v South Cup never appeared in the fixture list and as late as 13th September it was noted in the Cradley Heath programme as 'still to be arranged'. Cradley Heath ran out of dates, with the first home fixture not having been staged until 21st June and the last two 'home' meetings being held at Birmingham and Hanley.
Thanks for that.
I've just spotted another strange 'un - 18th June Tamworth 49 - 35 Wombwell appears to have been staged over 14 heats whereas the rest are over 16. Any further info on that one?
-
1 minute ago, norbold said:Yes, Stenner's has that match on 1 October as well!
Maybe the match on 29 October was Cradley v. Hanley but run at Tamworth? What else could it be? I presume there must have been a match on that date for Stenner's to have a score?
As I noted in the original post - 29/10 (Cubs NOT Heathens!) v Hanley (staged at Tamworth)
-
17 minutes ago, norbold said:29/10 Tamworth 64 Hanley 32 (MvSC) - 1948 Stenner's.
According to available sources that match was Cradley v Hanley.
Tamworth beat Hanley 60-35 on 1st October.
-
If I'm correct, the Midlands v South Cup qualifying rounds were split into two groups. The Southern group (Eastbourne, Exeter, Plymouth & Southampton) seems to be in order. The Midlands group (Cradley Heath, Hanley, Tamworth & Wombwell) however seems to be missing a fixture, namely Cradley v Wombwell.
The dates I have for
HeathensCubs(!) are:04/07 at Wombwell
04/08 v Tamworth
04/08 at Tamworth
28/08 at Hanley
29/10 v Hanley (staged at Tamworth)
The final was staged 05/11 so I'm surmising that following the 29/10 fixture the Wombwell match became a dead rubber and wasn't run. But was there any attempt to run it beforehand as I have no entry for a postponed fixture?

2 hours ago, BL65 said:22/07 Presumably this should be Sunday 27th July, with Speedway World reporting that there would be a meeting on that date, although not specifying the nature of it; 22nd was unlikely for Rye House as it was Tuesday
Yes indeed the 27th, apologies for that.
-
These are all Rye House meetings:
06/04, 04/05, 01/06, 22/07 and 03/08 are all dates only - anything take place?
20/04 Best Pairs - CONFIRM DATE & WINNERS

2 hours ago, BL65 said:25/09 Sheffield - The report in Speedway World stated ' Dent Oliver ran out a brilliant winner, with team mate Wally Lloyd second'. Oliver 14, Lloyd 13, Jay and Langton 11. Speedway News reported the same outcome. The scorechart shown for W Lloyd on the Researcher website is incorrect, the heat results show he recorded 3, 2, 3, 2, 3 not 3, 2, 3, 3, 3.
14/10 Southampton Date and winner confirmed (Speedway World), Green 15, Bob Oakley 14, Bert Cr. 13Cheers. The forum not a fan of Bert eh?
