  1. I will not lose any sleep without a new Sky deal. Their involvement in the sport has done nothing to enhance the domestic leagues, their choice of meetings is abysmal, and it would appear all the money has been used to line the pockets of the top riders instead of investing in new young talent. Hardly a raging success...

  2. From the look of the team photo on the official site from the dinner and dance, it looks as though Barker didn't attend that either.

Almost certainly looking for a new number 1 next season I'd say.

I cant access the official site. What's that all about, anyone know ?

  3. Well you are wrong. They are very clever these days and you cannot spend 100k on a rider as your name is on his leg and why would a sponsor anyway. When we sponsord cardiff at a 100k this was looked at but because of the cost to advertise on tv it was ok. Also why would you spend alot without tv ? No tv will be final nail in elite speedway in the uk i believe.

That's just common sense though, as advertising must be reasonable and affordable. Your Cardiff sponsorship was obviously an example of this, and I applaud your involvement in the sport..

  4. Whereas if you don't have the play offs you could be cast adrift towards the bottom and your season ended well before September.

A bit like several times who aren't in contention to top the league.

Plus didn't Poole qualify for the play offs right on the cut off, which was well after 1st Sept??

Still think something should be done to keep the season going for those that are not in the play offs. I go to watch good speedway, and don't really care if its a play off or some other meeting. Just don't want it to end early Sept..

  5.

30 if you get to the play off final ...... thats still only 15 home matches from mid March - the end of October !! ..... 13 if you don't make the play offs ............. that's on average one every 18 days whichisn't going to do much for the sport or attract fans especially if the rain puts paid to a few of those.

Let's just use Wolves as an eample ...... Taking into ccount 11 teams in the EL

    17 March - Olympique (from 2013)

    24 Mar - League

31 Mar - XXX (NZ GP)

7 Apr - XXX (NZ GP)

    14 Apr - League 2

    21 Apr - League 3

    28 Apr - League 4

    5 May - League 5

    12 May - League 6

    19 May - League 7

    26 May - League 8

    2 Jun - League 9

    9 Jun - League 10

    16 Jun - ....................... Half way break

    23 Jun - League 11

    30 Jun - League 12

    7 Jul - League 13

    14 Jul - League 14

    21 Jul - League 15

    28 Jul - SWC

    4 Aug - League 16

    11 Aug - League 17

    18 Aug - League 18

    25 Aug - League 19

    1 Sep - League 20

    8 Sep -

    15 Sep - Play Off

    22 Sep - Play Off

29 Sep - Play Off Final

6 Oct - Play Off Final

    13 Oct -

    20 Oct - Olymique

    27 Oct -

There are a few free weeks and Wolves could run a meeting when the NZ GP is on if they wish against a team that doesnt feature a GP rider (which could be most of them) and use PK or Bomber as a guest for Tai (hoping he returns)

    EXAMPLE ONLY !!

And this illustrates the downside of the playoffs. If you come 5th, your season ends on Sept 1st, and that's ridiculous...

  6. Seems EL promoters dont want to learn.

Coventry have announced the signings of Harris and Hansen and have already requested an average reassessment for Hansen!!

If this is how its still going to be then we are best off out of it.

It should be increased if anything, the league was stronger when he last rode. Ridiculous if its true...

  7. People are mad to suggest the K O Cup full stop.. Two frendlies to give the riders a good blow, a full league programme the play off's and then in our case the Blue Riband and breathe.. If only i could bring down a smillie..

If the play offs are retained, why cant the teams finishing 5th-8th compete in the KOC to keep their season going as well...

  8. Apparently Mick Horton on a Coventry phone has intimated that there would be 11 teams in the Elite next year.

Given that Leicester seemed nailed on to join either the Witches are staying put or an existing is dropping out.

Don't think Eastbourne would be too keen on a 40 match Elite which is being talked of, they could be dropping down. Hoping the Witches return to the top flight, the sooner the better imo...

  9. Peterborough do well to field one team considering most of their assets would rather ride elsewhere on loan. The fact is that finally British Speedway has realised that it does not have the backing or following of other countries and the big earners will have to ride for what's on offer or forget it and most will take the second option.

Silly season has started again I see...
