  1. Its got nothing to do with whats in writing, its do with what is in the minds of the parties. All a written contract does is remove any doubt or confusion about the terms of the contract.

As Midland Robin said terms and contract are effectively the same thing but payment has to be agreed.

A written contract is legally binding, a vebal agreement is legally binding although hard to prove without a witness. A conversation about terms is not legally binding, it is negoiation. Until both parties agree on terms in writing or verbally, it is not a contract.

  2. erm...keep up...They're Peterborough assets. Seems Peterborough have offered contracts to at least 5 riders of which they can only accommodate 2. I'm questioning why someone would do this and how they would fulfill the contracts if all the riders accepted.

By your pathetic reply, I guess you don't know the answer.

Im afraid you are deluded, they have not offered contracts to anyone other than Sundstrom. They have asked riders what terms they are looking for, and made offers to Hans, thats not a contract. Its really no ones business, they are entitled to negotiate with their assets.

  3. Perhaps Kenneth Bjerre, Linus Sundstrom, Hans Andersen, Troy Batchelor, Neils Iversen et al, should all accept the Peterborough contracts and sue them for breach of contract when Peterborough can't fulfill them?

Very childish comment, what have Bjerre and Sundstrom got to do with it. Tell me, why dont Swindon buy them, or do you think P'boro exist to provide riders for Swindon after investing in those riders.

  4. When I read the rules on loaned out riders, I am of the impression, at the end of each loaned stint, the parent club has first option on that rider next year. If that parent club doesn't take up that option, then the Club the rider was loaned to has second option of that rider....

So where does the RULES say that Peterboro' can offer the said rider to another club (COVENTRY) before they have given the loan club the opportunity to have him back....... Is that not braking the rules ?????

No, he was not offered to coventry on a loan basis, it was a full transfer or maybe swap for Harris.

  5. But in football they have a set contract period and can leave for free when it expires. If a player doesn't want to play for a team and no one wants to purchase them then that player will often rot in the reserves.

Loans are also a common occurrence don't forget and if a team do not have the financial clout to purchase a player then a loan deal (used more so by lower league clubs) is preferred.

Many Championship teams have gained promotion through the use of the loan system.

Yes, but Swindon are not a championship side, they are elite lge champions. Your top two riders are available to purchase, so stop bickering and buy them. Perhaps Mr Frost wishes to purchase another asset, maybe Kenni Larsen, he is entitled to sell some that want away.

  6. All this mud slinging is getting rather tiresome!! The thing I find it strange and Peterborough must be smarting in the knowledge, is that Hans, Batch, NKI and MJJ have all turned them down?!?! Why?? You will always get the other commitments stories but with 3 of them that is not the case!! Oh and how long before Kenneth Bjerre joins that group?

MJJ was never going to ride in the UK this year, like THJ, he has no interest in it. The other 3 know KJB will always be first choice with Mr Frost. Dont forget, Frost sponsors Bjerre on an individual basis. The asset system is to blame here, it is unworkable in the present economical situation.

  7. I thought it widely known that Boro intended to use Bjerre, Harris and Sundstrom and the 2/20 ruling put paid to that. That is why Peterborough were talking to Coventry regarding a transfer for Hans, but ignoring our right to have first option. You contradict yourself. If Bjerre's place is not in doubt, and given Sundstrom already signed, then the other assets are surplus to requirements and were never in the equation.

There was a rumour about Harris, but im sure options were always open on that. It has never been confirmed that was a fact, although the Hans/Coventry link would confirm that was one option. Either way, rules must be adhered too, even tho the present system is not perfect.

  8. Swindon should abide by the pathetic BSPA ruling but only difference being do not bother to sign them....let someone else line Frost and Mahoneys pockets....go elsewhere...i know who i'd rather spend the money on.....thanks to Hans and Troy for last year but would personally walk away from this ridiculous situation

Not to mention we could stop watching the biased views of certain panthers posters....or undercover peterboro officials..... ;)

Could i just point out, P'boro bought Hans and Troy. How is recouping your outlay 'lining your pockets'. Did Mr Frost not BUY Troy from Swindon ? You want him back, then cough up.

  9. Alot of people are missing the point here. Boro planned to include both Hans and KJB this year, but rule changes put paid to that. NO ONE knows what offers Hans was made, apart from the two parties involved. P'boro have signed riders observing the rules and regulations, its a shame other teams cannot do the same. Poole and Lakeside have assembled teams in the proper manner, it can be done ! Anyone who believes Bjerre has been kept in the dark about his place is seriously deluded. His place has never been in question, apart from the speculators on here who comment without having the facts.

  10. Can't really comment on the Schlein situation as I only know what has been said in the article, but in terms of Puk, Hans and Troy there's no need for 'dark alleyways' as they were all on loan at the clubs who want them back and its naive to think that all three wouldn't have had a casual conversation about the possibility of returning the next year. Not saying its necessarily right but it must happen every year with every club who has a rider on loan that they'd like back the next season.

As far as getting Puk on loan again goes it seems bizarre that Brum are reportedly being made to buy Barker and Swindon Batch yet Lynn can have Iversen on loan again. I think I'd feel hard done by if I were the P'boro promoter. If the loan is going to lead to Puk being purchased at the end of the season then fair enough but there seems to be a lack of consistency.

A casual conversation is fair enough, but two of these riders announced they had done deals with clubs before P'boro had been approached for permission. This is more than a casual chat, it is a breach of regulations. Batch announced his deal on Twitter and Swindon told him to delete it asap.

  11. Such a deal as you suggest could well have been discussed and knocked back by Peterborough just as it may well have been knocked back by KL who seem to only want a loan deal for Puk. As to why, if that is the case, is anybody's guess - I've posted my suggestion.

And there's over two years difference between their ages. Maybe an insignificant difference in your eyes but it might be in your club's management's view. I'd also suggest the likelihood of an improved average could come into it as well as the riders' wishes - Rory would ride for several clubs whereas Puk 'only wants to ride for Stars'. Make the possibility an asset and loan the cert!

I would have thought buying the rider you've utilised for two years and loaning the new lad to be the way to go - unless you have ulterior motives.

They obviously cant afford to buy NKI now they have bought Rory. I have little doubt he will ride for Lynn this year, maybe with the promise of buying him for 2014. The sooner the transfer system is replaced the better. Domestic speedway cant afford this system, 2yr fixed contracts are the way to go.

  12. North doesn't have a ride. But could he come over from Australia to live in this country on what he would earn at Sheffield, doubtful unless he gets an Elite league ride to top his income up.

Dakota has a Polish team this year, and dont be suprised if he gets a doubling up role at parent club Peterborough this year.

  13. Learn to ride a small track and u can ride any track

If what people are saying about big tracks why was Exeter riders so Crap away from home on small tracks

You never saw Bridger when he was at the East of England Showground with the Panthers then...he was awful, just rode round the white line ignoring the fast lines.

  14. It takes a lot of time and effort to change a Speedway Track. The initial track when first built, is often not fit for purpose, and overtaking is at a premium.

I know this having been a Lakeside (Arena Essex) supporter for most of my life. The original, flat as a pancake track with sticks, not safety fences, was woeful. Over the years it improved and with our current track curator, we witness a great deal of overtaking - as the bends now have more banking and the shape in/out of them has been significantly changed. Just to add, don't go by comments made by other people on here that still knock Lakeside, and do not go by our camera-shy performances whenever Sky are in town! We do witness a great deal of overtaking - much more so than many away tracks that I've visited.

Just to add, in the case of Leicester, why is there so much distrust from some quarters? You have possibly the most forward-looking promotion within the Premier League, and you should get behind them 100%. Everything I read about Leicester suggests that you are a success story in the making - so why the negativity from some 'fans'?

Rome may not have been built in a day, and Speedway Tracks conducive to good racing, aren't built in a couple of seasons!

I think you are confusing overtaking and racing, with riders making mistakes on a small, tight, slow track that is more suited to cycle speedway. Lakeside, Eastbourne and Belle Vue are boring tracks im afraid, its called speedway, not slowway.

  15. Unfortunately, domestic speedway in Britain is struggling these days. The elite lge relies heavily on sky money and clubs on sponsors. Maybe its time for fixed term contracts to be used in the UK, possibly 2 years, after which the rider is free to negotiate with another club. This would free up transfer monies which would ease the financial burden.

  16. You can call some clubs vultures, but a team like Peterborough put themselves in a position where they have far more riders than they would be able to fit in a team. Expecting clubs to stump up for signing riders as assets left, right and centre when those clubs can barely afford to run anyway shows what thin ice the system is on.

Whilst i accept your comments in general, i feel it is reasonable to want a fee for number one riders like Hans and Iverson, especially as the latter has stated he does not want to ride for the panthers.
