  1. If you think it's rubbish then the alternative is to stop buying it. Everything is available on line nowadays anyhow. Seems like some just need something to whinge about.
  2. Strange that so many claim to hate the Star yet continue to buy it. Odd. Very odd,
  3. Strewth, I thought this would be done with by now. It doesn't matter a squat what any of us make of the regulation, the FIM aren't taking further action because they've accepted Greg's explanation that he didn't feel in a mental state to continue. Guess that comes under the Force Majeure thing. So that's it, it's done, over with; common sense has prevailed. Now, everyone can move on and look forward to next year with a decent line up.
  4. Well, this turned out to be a big steaming pile. Absolute garbage.
  5. This is true but there is a difference between an exclusion for causing a stoppage and being accused of cheating. I'm not saying what Greg did is right here by the way, I'm just saying he has an argument. I'm not going to get all holier-than-thou on the bloke either because I don't believe, hand on heart, that any of us wouldn't react badly to being accused of cheating. Easy to say 'I would have carried on' but in truth, not one of us could honestly say how we would react until put in the situation. All I am saying here is that he has an argument, which is probably good enough for no further action to be taken. To be honest here, the fact that there are people coming up with all kinds of scenarios and interpretations of the regulation, says to me that there is a level of ambiguity involved. Like BWitcher, I asked a legal friend of mine, who has no connection to speedway by the way, and he said that he would interpret the wording to mean Greg should be out of the competition altogether. He did also say that the regulation is open to challenge because the wording could be deemed as not thorough enough in it's description. I'm not trying to take sides in case anyone thinks I'm being an apologist here. I have already said I wouldn't want Greg to lose the title this way and frankly anyone who does needs to ask themselves the real reason why. I've seen BWitcher accused of only starting the thread because he's a Tai fan. I don't know the bloke so I can't say but that's not the impression I got. It is a talking point and since this is a forum for such things then there's no reason not to bring it up. I hope common sense prevails here and the result as it is now stands.
  6. I think he could because as he has already, maybe smartly said, the incident left him furious and he didn't feel in a correct mental state to be racing. I think the FIM would be unwise to take the title from him because it could get messy.
  7. Mr BWitcher is absolutely correct here I'm afraid. Ineligible means he is no longer considered a part of the competition as soon as he breaks the rule. The reason the wording states 'remainder of the season' is for a scenario where, for example, a rider says 'I'm not competing in x round because I feel the referee is incompetent, but I'll do the rest'. The regulation wording prevents that. BWitcher is correct that 'ineligible for the FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship' means exactly that. Legally, if the FIM did decide to take the title from him, Greg could use the 'force majeure' part of the regulation, which for those unfamiliar with the term basically means exceptional circumstances, because he has been accused of cheating in a roundabout way and even though he allowed his machine to be examined by the race director, the jury decided he was guilty without even checking the bike, which could be a big error on their part. Greg could argue he has a right of appeal against such an accusation and since they couldn't be arsed to check the facts, he is in a good position. I personally wouldn't want a title decided this way and if I was Tai I wouldn't want to accept the trophy, it would feel very hollow. Even though technically Greg should be ruled out, I don't think it will happen because like I said, he has a good argument for exceptional circumstances and someone in the jury would have to answer questions as to why a proper investigation wasn't made.
  8. If you're being fair to him, you'll stop trying to use this World Champ guff as an excuse for him not to behave like a human. He would have been within his rights to go into the crowd and thump the big mouth tosser. Imagine if he did? You'd have passed out at such a horror!
  9. Real being the operative word. He is real and if he wants to call people that behave the way they did in front of their own kids and make remarks about his deceased father then he is entitled to call them what he likes. Good on him, I hope those he was talking about get to see it.
  10. He's right, those fans that kicked it all off with the verbals and gestures whilst in front of their kids are scum. Their kids will be just like them when they grow up and dumbarses will have the gall to say it's down to the likes of Woffy. What a load of old crap.
  11. My god there's some drips on here! Firstly, it was a top meeting on a superb racetrack and Belle Vue gave it a fair crack when others would have given up after the first leg; so credit to all the riders for putting on a show. As far as Cook's reaction in heat 13 goes, it was understandable; he was fired up and from his point of view it would have felt like Lindgren chopped him, so I've no problem with him showing some emotion. I will add that as much as I think Lindgren is a dangerous twonk, I though the move was a fair one. Cook had the piss taken out of him for his interview after by some dicks. For me, what we saw was someone who really cared and was genuinely hurting after losing; that's the kind of bloke I want in my team any day of the week. As for the Tai stuff, once again it's the usual plumsacks who are wading into him, purely driven by their dislike of him. If a certain Dane does it, he's one of the sports characters who are sadly disappearing; if Tai does it, he's a disgrace blah, blah, blah, whinge, moan. Friends of mine were there last night, Belle Vue fans as it happens and they told me that it wasn't how some would have you believe. He wasn't just being booed, he was getting all kinds of verbal and hand gestures given to him by men and women, several with kids in tow. It was then he gave some back, he didn't instigate it. Should he have given it back? Too farken right he should! All this old swill about role models; your role models are your parents, you shouldn't be relying on sportsman to be your kids role models, teach them right from wrong yourselves and if you're gonna stand there in front of your kids, giving the w**ker signs, calling him a c**t etc then your the ones responsible for how they conduct themselves. Tai stood up to them and so he should. Farken holier than thou's giving it the biggun and then squealing about it when they get it back. Morons.
  12. Gutted for the bloke, so unlucky to miss out on a title shot through injury. I do think he would have had the nerve to do it too. Have to say on a more important note, he is going to be back, the injuries could have been so much worse and I'm stoked that we are able to just be disappointed he's missed out on the title. Greg should easily take care of business but you just never know so good luck to the bloke. I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted to win it this way but that's racing, it's not his fault at the end of the day. Hopefully Lindgren won't ride like a madman in Aussie.

    Tai Quits Team Gb

Another amusing thread about Woffy. Some of you Poms have no clue about the guy. People tried hard to get him to ride for Aussie, he didn't want to and it was nothing to do with him thinking he wouldn't get in the side, that is and always will be total crap. He wanted to ride for GB because he feels he is British, which he is and that is an undisputable fact. He's proud of his heritage and would love for the sport to move forward in GB, which is why he gets frustrated when the powers that be don't match that ambition. Does he love Aussie? Yes, he does. He had a great childhood there, had many friends, had a good lifestyle and had opportunities he wouldn't have got in the UK. His parents also loved it there, as do many Poms who live there but they always saw themselves as what they are, British. Just because the lad picked up an accent and has a great affection for the place, some think that makes him an Aussie; if you're one of those you need to get a grip. Same old thing with some of you, can't stand anyone from your own country doing well. Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Lewis Hamilton, Phil Taylor, Steve Davis, Andy Murray etc etc. Weird thing is, when a Brit team or sportsperson is doing crap, you still slaughter them and say things like "omg, it makes me embarrassed to be British". Maybe that's why you hate winners, they don't meet your self fulfilling prophecy of being crap, you can't handle it. Didn't see all this bull when Nicholls and Richardson spoke out against GB and refused to ride for them. The lad is right, the guys running it are doing a poor job, which just about everyone agrees with! You all slag off British speedway but then get your panties in a bundle if a rider dares to do the same. Grow up you dicks.

    Tai Woffinden

Man, some right old crap written by some. Don't see what the deal is, a team has decided to strengthen in order to have a crack at the title, seems like good management to me. No rules have been broken. The reasons for the change are irrelevant, doesn't matter whether it's an injury or whether the boss wants to try and improve the side. Yes Holder was injured when replaced by Hancock but the management wanted to keep the side strong, Greg was available, it worked for Poole and it worked for Greg. Wolves are in a good position, want to make a challenge, Tai is available and it made sense to make the change, again, it suits both parties. Sport is about winning and as long as it's done legally it's not a problem.
