According to last nights programme We are disappointed with Peterborough’s lack of cooperation especially as the original date of 16th May was cancelled at there request. We have offered to go on Monday 9th or 16th but have only been offered 19th which is only 4 days before play offs begin

Swindon go there on the 9th,The Weasel too. :D

That score would have been the very last thing the Swindon promotion wanted or needed. A crippler for them.

All we need is a bit of the Poole supporting mentality, you know, when the 4k Play Off supporting 'Santas' turn up for their annual visit for the Home Leg of the PO Final.

When THJ came over here for Kings Lynn he couldn’t be bothered and was riding  a MDL riders bikes and just brought random engine over with him he didn’t even bring back protector and gloves.

This year i understand he his bringing complete bikes, toolkit and mechanic with him so should be better

Didn't he have more hair too?

Just got back after being detoured through the bloody new forest as the A31 was shut.

Credit to Swindon for a very good strong performance tonight and we couldn’t live with them. But really we should at least got close to a point had our number one showed up and Brady hadn’t gone into the tapes. Two points from Holder is not good enough. In heat one of all his meetings it’s either 1 or 0. If I get time I shall go back and check but he gets beaten by riders he should be beating in heat one every week.

Decent sized crowd but expected it to be bigger than that. This will probably be the final as well so we need to sharpen up. Too often we we left standing at the tapes but the ref did allow some huge rollers, one from Ellis and heat two from Perks the obvious ones.

But no complaints. Beaten by the better team who now have the label of clear favourites going into the playoffs. For a change we don’t have that pressure on us or the expectation.

As for the track, far superior to the old race circuit. Plenty of passing tonight.

Image result for tarmac rollersI think Brady was sponsored by this one in Heat 3 and looked like Jack was riding it in Heats 1 & 5. :t:

  5. I was contemplating coming down for this given Swindon's need for points, thankfully those wonderful people at BT have saved the day and I can now go somewhere where I might actually  enjoy the surroundings and entertainment on offer, roll on the 9th Sept, Peterborough get the Red carpet ready, I'm on my way.

It’s a hard one. You look back at the EDR days and how many of those guys have really kicked on.

Wright has been the best but quite some distance and Ellis.  The 2 best EDR riders at the time were Newman and Garrity but they seem to have stagnated due to a host of reasons.

Think you're forgetting about a certain Mr Worrall currently plying his trade at the National Stadium who for me was the main beneficiary of the system, started the season at #13 on the list and finished at #5, as a Swindon fan I had the pleasure of watching the improvement in him and it was vast, before breaking his leg last season he was a 3rd HL in the Premiership and had represented Team GB and deservedly so.

Me thinks Swindon fans are trying to deflect from an abject day when they were expected to take 7 points.

Last night I was more than happy to come away from Swindon with 2 points. A draw was never predicted and without our main man either. A great result for Poole. Sure Swindon lost ~doyle due to the Swindon track but it’s not our fault.

I don’t believe a single Pirates fan left Blunsdon disappointed with the result.

Next up Peterborough and hopefully another 3 points.

Bet365 the biggest bookmakers on the planet made Poole favourites at Blunsdon and yet by some miracle against all odds Poole salvaged a draw.

To quote Bollo from the Mighty Boosh............'Whats that? did you say Phil Collins?'

Has anyone seen anything around town actually advertising the start of the season?

I notice there was over 13,000 at Swindon Town tonight for the England Women's friendly. Just 10% of those coming to the speedway would comfortably double our average crowd.

They might have sold 13k tickets, wasn't 13k in attendance though!

The stadium supporting 62 jobs and bringing £3.1m to the local economy seems wildly optimistic. Does anyone have a link to the actual report?

It does appear to be good news though and reading between the lines the council seem to be lining themselves up to take over the stadium.

I went there in May 2007 shortly before they closed to watch Swindon and I doubt there was 62 home fans there.

Well, as I suggested, IMMEDIATELY reducing team numbers from seven to six would be a good place to start to address the chronic rider shortage, so there's one short-term way of easing a major problem. No riders worthy of a team place would be out of work - not for long anyway.

It'll upset a few on here but we actually need less teams, too many can't afford to race at any sort of reasonable level and the sport cannot move forward whilst it panders to these clubs, you are only as strong as your weakest link.

    Irrelevant. I am spot on.

Lampart rides with less pressure being partnered with the best rider in the league who will win near enough every race he competes in and it also gets Dawid's rides out of the way in the early part of the meeting which benefits Swindon.

Not necessarily, position 2 is no gimme - you're partnered by your own #1 in 3 races and in Swindon's case that's one of the best riders in the world, whilst the opposition you face is similar whether you line up at 2/3 or 4. Adam is good enough to be a Heat Leader at Blunsdon and pairing him with Doyle could get Swindon on the front foot early, particularly at home.

I think alot of us thought that Doyle was coming after the announcement that Ipswich were moving up.

It's been suggest that money was an issue which should make all Ippo fans worried about being able to attract top line riders.

Given that we have one of the best sponsors assuming that Guy who also sponsors Doyle stays involved and some of the best crowds in the country.

To be fair i'm guessing Doyle must be the best paid rider on these shores (and rightly so), be plenty of clubs struggling to meet his demands, Swindon gambling he's worth the extra, no doubt his performances will be up to the required standard, whether it puts enough 'bums on seats' and extra sponsorship into the coffers is the question and presumably Ipswich weren't convinced enough to take that risk.

Just to correct you on the avatar that Mr Shovar was using...It was indeed the “Magnificent Seven” but it was the Seven riders voted for by Poole supporters as the best Seven riders to wear the Skull and Crossbones in their 70 year history and was nothing to do with the Pirates 2018 starting line-up.

    Hope that helps.:t:

I much preferred a previous avatar showcasing the magnificent two. :t:

Don’t you think Nick would’ve stayed if Rosco really asked him to?.

    I do.

No, his mind was made up in the summer when the Wolverhampton rumours first started. I knew he was leaving just felt sure Poole would have trumped any offer. He wasn't happy all season and it affected his performances and subsequently his average, people keep suggesting it was down to the pressure of being #1, anyone that watches the Robins regularly knows how unhappy he was.
