    Glasgow 2018

How many times have we had this only for it to binned again after promoters moan all season about it and try to find ways to twist it so they don't have to like last year when a team tracked an over age Australian as their "young British rider" after weeks of making excuses about not being able to sign one. Invariably the rule gets dumped the next year like it was for this season. The rule making must be taken away from the promoters so they cannot continually change things to meet their own selfish needs. An independent ruling body is essential for British speedway to move forward.

Feel sorry for Lewis Kerr as he has been having a good season for us but maybe this will wake the promotion up to the fact changes need made.

    Rye House 2018

The problem with the powers that be is they are only out for their own clubs interests. Until when the decision making is removed from the promoters (how many of them actually do promote?) to people who are not involved with any club will things change. Sadly by the time the penny drops British Speedway will probably be gone. Hopefully there is someone out there who can find a solution.
  4. We beat a very poor Scunthorpe last night but the efforts from some of the team was excellent. 1. Victor Palovaara - Doesn't look ready for this level of racing as he struggled to perform against a team that were having a very poor match and if he can't do it in those circumstances he will really struggle against a team riding well. This signing is not fair on the rider or the team as it puts both under extra pressure a promotion who knew what they were doing would not have made this type of signing. 2. Theo Pijper - Has been excellent the last couple of matches but has spent has spent his whole time at No2. carrying the No1 and as Captain I would hope is complaining about that to the promotion. 3. Kevin Wolbert - In my opinion the poor opposition flattered him and he would not have scored as well against better opposition. Should not still be riding for us. 4. Anders Thomsen - Worked hard and is a good prospect for the future its unfortunate he is now landed with the job of carrying Wolbert as he did in heat 3. 5. Rusty Harrison - Excellent at home once again never gave up all night if he could just find the consistency he is missing he would be the heatleader we are missing. 6. Kasper Lykke - If only he could gate he would be great he keeps trying though and contributes some good points as he did last night. 7. Dimitri Berge - He seemed a bit out of sorts last night and had some bike trouble but we know he has the ability to come good.
  5. The fault here lies with the weak pathetic promotion who put Viktor in this ridiculous position not the fans. He has never ridden in this country yet they expected him to come in a do the job that the utter disgrace that is Kevin Wolbert has been failing to do since day one and it was always highly unlikely that Viktor would be able to do that. He is now under pressure from a support that have been expected to watch consistently losing teams for 2 seasons now and as the "No1" he will be the one to suffer as he is in the position of the supposed to be top scorer for the team. So blame the people responsible for the situation THE PROMOTION and KEVIN WOLBERT not the long suffering fans who turn up week in week out to watch the drivel served up by these two. Viktor is just their fallguy unfortunately.
  6. As I was walking out the stadium at the end of the match there was loud chants from the stand of "Sack Wolbert" and deservedly so. Absolutely no effort from him at all today and he should have been dropped months ago as he has done nothing to justify keeping his place as long as he has. I would also drop Christian Henry as he has made himself a liability continually coming back only drop out again with the same injury. He should be replaced as the team has suffered long enough with R/R between him and Dimitri and needs a chance of a run with 7 riders. The promotion have been far to slow to deal with poor performing riders this season and seemed to have forgotten their job is to provide entertainment to their paying customers as there has been very little this season (Dimitri and Anders aside who have both put the experienced riders in the team to shame time and time again) and its no surprise the crowds have been so low. It's not just the riders who need to get their act together.
  7. It was entirely unnecessary and unfair to blame the supporters for this mess. Ashfield has never been a sustainable venue for speedway, when we moved from Shawfield a lot of people stopped going because it was in Possil Park that combined with the fact that it has been once long expensive fight to fit in a track which would provide good racing. We have had good racing at times something always came up forcing further track changes which set it all back again. The previous promotion should have made more of an effort to look for an alternative even when we were about to be kicked out for Ashfield to be redeveloped for housing all we heard was how they were hoping to stay, there was never any mention of them looking at alternative sights or meeting with Glasgow City Council to discuss areas that could be looked at. The current promotion spent money on the track and the bar and wanted to spend more on floodlighting to race Friday nights. They would have been smarter to save the money with a view using it on a new track somewhere else even if that somewhere else had to be on the outskirts of Glasgow again. The promotion this year seemed to think all that was needed was to insist the supporters do more to encourage people to come to the speedway however when they hear it is in Possilpark people are not keen and if they do come then watching a team getting heavily beaten week out does give much reason to come back. These are not issues the supporters are responsible for.

    Fire At Glasgow

Really disappointed to hear this a terrible end to a terrible season. Insured or not the promotion will have to ask themselves if it is worth rebuilding only to allow the scum who burnt it down to have another go. This is not the first act of vandalism at Ashfield over the years (the referees box was destroyed a few years back to name one) and is unlikely to be the last. The same applies to installing an Air/Foam fence why go to the expense only for some idiot to wreck it. They may decide to go on next year or they could decide it would be wiser now to take a year out raise some funds and find a new place to build a track.
