  1. Has this one been rained off yet?
  2. In my opinion absolutely anything that let's me read about my media-ignored, publicly shunned and culturally forgotten favourite sport has to be good. Internet coverage of speedway is not much more superior. Ok it's more immediate but I like a bit of both. Internet news speedway sites are no less bland... and although there is some critical discussion on this forum you would have to admit that it sometimes feels that most of the main contributions are from trolls and ppl who perhaps actually deep down don't like speedway. Sorry I'm not a regular contributor, a regular reader but I'm not on the inside. Only saying. It's an 'outsider's' observation and I am probably wrong. To say speedway star was better in the 70s or 80s etc is fair enough but it was always warm and sunny in them days too and you could leave your back door open Speedway star is a glorious institution, it has never looked better and the writing is informative and interesting. Thank you Phillip This is totally unbiased by the fact that my dream job would naturally be to work on producing Speedway Star - why would any other fan think differently?

    Posf2 - Swindon V Coventry 6 October

Pages 1-10 are now amusing to read on this thread, rather than just mildly irritating. Must say I was surprised too. Wasn't expecting that at all. Well done Bees. Can we keep Howarth and get Fricke next year?
  5. (a) Most talented rider in the world has a small (?) amount of residual alcohol in system after a few two many drinks the night before and marginally (?who knows?) fails alcohol test because of potential danger to other riders. Consequently banned for unknown period of time. Loses thousand of pounds. SGP is not as exciting. British club severely penalised by not having best rider/captain. Spectating public loses most entertaining rider in the country. Polish club and fans lose thrilling rider. Swedish club and fans lose thrilling rider. Irrespective of FIM decision rider potentially loses place in SGP 2015. SGP becomes less exciting. The whole speedway brand becomes slightly less thrilling. Fans get bored eventually stop watching procession speedway. ( Two scrotes initiate mass brawl with each other, with mechanics, the crowd even, someone does actually get hurt, police get involved! Nothing happens?Speedway looks pathetic and unprofessional. Nothing happens. Just fisticuffs. Rubbish. If they do both get to ride on Monday then will there be security in the pits? ...or perhaps a teacher/playground supervisor would suffice. Embarrassing.

Coventry V Cradley Nl Koc Sf 26/9/14

these little boys are only just out off the playground. Embarrassing, depressing and pathetic. Massive bans until they all grow up.
  7. Walked straight into that Yorkies not too grating tonight
  8. Apologies if he is related to anybody. But who is the offensive white haired guy who spends the match looking over the pits shouting insults? This time at Kenneth Hansen.

Race For The Play Offs 2014

Has Jason gone? Class is good to watch for a neutral...and MJJ certainly has it. but as a supporter of the team that I want to win a meeting then I would have to rank the following a bit higher ...bravery, grit, determination, tenacity, will power, motivation, effort, team spirit, selflessness, persistence.....etc. Barker scores higher on each of these qualities than MJJ.

    Coventry Bees 2014

After being ridiculously over-excited after the acquisition of MJJ by the Bees, and then watching every one of his 30-something races, I can't really summon up any feelings of disappointment. He was just 'OK'. Can't see why his loss would be the reason for any 'battering at Belle Vue' or hand the league to KL.. Worse things have happened.
  11. Does the promotion have any real evidence that there is a significant shared support between the Bees and this local third tier football team? Would the drop in crowd at Brandon resulting from a few going to the football easily be offset by the large amounts of speedway fans who have no interest whatsoever in the 'mighty sky-blues' fortunes but might come along as they really fancy seeing a full strength Coventry team (the team in form) against a full strength Kings Lynn? Why is the promotion giving football fans the best deal out of this? Is there another reason for this change? I bet it rains on the Thursday

    Coventry Bees 2014

Forecast for next Monday (home and away with Leicester) looks very wet unfortunately....I was really looking forward to this . However realistically though ....can we cancel them now or will we have to stare at the unrideable track first? Purely for selfish reasons of course but as it's bank holiday, and a precious day off, I need to work out my plan for the day!!

    Coventry Vs Swindon 18/8/14

Just got back from Brandon. Funny meeting, made a change and not half as bad as everyone has said here. AND I took a first timer and she absolutely loved it and she can't wait for Friday. so maybe not that disastrous

    Darcy Ward

Whatever anyone thinks about Darcy Ward as a person (e.g. 'scumbag waster' - see above) he is a very gifted and very exciting rider. We all know he is not the best gater so has had to get a lot of his points from audacious, brave and often breath-taking passing moves. At a time when speedway is haemorrhaging fans rapidly do we really need to lose individuals who can sell the sport by their immensely watchable talent? Once I'd got over the sheer idiocy of his behaviour and stopped calling him an idiot and a loser I was genuinely disappointed yesterday that we wasn't riding. In pure financial terms can the sport really afford to slap hefty bans on one of the biggest crowd-pleasers? (similar characters like Botham, McEnroe, Suarez, Maradona ....come to mind)

    Coventry V Eastbourne 15th Aug

Quite a lot of supporters I spoke to tonight are unlikely to bother to come again this season. My dad being one of them unfortunately. However the track did look awful and the coventry speedway response is good.
