Sheffield Vs Edinburgh Pl 20th August 2015
Japser replied to Tigerish's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Excellent post Steve, yes I only saw the incedent in ht 2 and unaware of the ht 8 issue. I couldn't understand the comments that were being made but it now seems Josh made two passes on Robert Branford that were worthy of negative comment. I think that coupled with the outcry at Berwick a few days ago this more than coroborates your comments. I personally don't think Josh is being done any favours by this continual pretence that he is something that he is not. He has a lot to learn yet. -

I suppose you think it was unfair to disqualify Garrity in heat 4 aswell. Seems to be someone else who thought josh Bates joined in attacking Jakobsen so I don't think your impression of what happened is absolutely beyond question. My opinion is also valid. It is my opinion of what appeared to take place. -

It looked to me as if there was some previous hard feelings between Garrity and Jakobsen . In my opinion Jason is doing himself no favours acting like he did in heat 4 and after heat 13. Nikolai Jakobsen appeared to be by far the more reasonable of the two. I have been getting excited about Jason's skills on track but I was disappointed in him last night. It looked to me by the way that Josh Bates tripped Jakobsen as he crossed the dog track, but not sure if he did it deliberately or not. I think that jakobsen was treated pretty badly as a guest of sheffield tigers. -
Scunthorpe Vs Sheffield (league Cup) - Easter Monday, April 6th, 3pm

Although I know nothing about Josh apart from watching his fantastic skills on the track, surely for any rider who has these skills, to get to the top he needs some technical know how behind him. At 24 you don't really know much and unless you are part of a family who knows the game or lucky enough to bump in to someone who will pass on some info you won't progress much. Josh's gating kind of shows this up. All he needs is someone to show him how to set the bike and clutch up to suit a given surface. Its really just physics. If someone provided him up with some top engines and helped him get the set up right then I think he could get to the very top. -

Any views on taking a point off Andre when his exhaust system was failing in some way. Didn't make a lot of sense to me. -

What happened to the fortress Sheffield Idea then ?

If You Could Sign One Ex Pl Rider?

Shane Parker -
Afraid I have to disagree with that. Ben is a good solid points scorer around Owlerton. I think we need a mix of rider types, a few risk takers, a few good out of the gate, a few who can win from the back etc. and some solid performers who always get a respectable score. Forget away performance for the time being. Make sure we win on Thursday and everyone has enjoyed it. Swell the gates, hold the price down, hopefully swell the gates some more. THEN start thinking about other things........... Just a view

They didn't do their reputations any good in my view. Especially when asking for support and goodwill from the fans. I think a lot of people felt that hoggy was treated very badly.
-
Is the priority then to win every thursday and provide some exciting racing. I seem to recollect around the time that Reg Wilson left his team managers role that there were changes made to improve the away performance. The result was, away performance no change, home performance, down the pan. We've never recovered.

I know theory and practice don't always go hand in hand but doesn't it follow that for a given points limit riders who are not so strong on the road will be better around their home track. Should this not be considered when planning fortress Owlerton?

My favourite example of how to do it would be Shane Parker around Owlerton a couple of years back. -
Has Machin Changed His Mind?

I will never know what advice neil gives and how the others act on it. I have a view on how people usually operate. Simon has now explained the reason for Neils continued involvement and I have thanked him for explaining this. No problem. No axe to grind. I like to think my opinions are updated in line with information I come across.
