Now the promotion are making a sensible signing. Whilst its not the most spectacular side in the world (nor was it going to be with the re-build/move up etc) signing riders that the fans have an affinity too will appease some of the results if (when) they don't go Brums way. Still think no Hume is a travesty but if Shanes/Davey is the final rider there is some hope for the fans to keep coming each week.

Buxton - epitomy of NL racing?

I don't think Dean has an issue with riders getting contributions based upon points scored but no riders in the NL should be looking at turning a profit or realistically even breaking even. It should be viewed as a subsidised hobby and rewarded as such. Ride in it, enjoy it, if you get good it costs you a bit less, if you get very good you can step up to the pro leagues where you might turn a profit. Promoters aren't helping the cause either. Persistent calls that the costs are out of control, well get together and actually act upon it, set a sensible points value and stick to it, lure riders with the way you will treat and handle them at the club, the geographical location of the club, the atmosphere of the fans rather than just the non stop increasing of points money.

    Isle of Wight 2019

Very strong top 2 although this is how the majority of teams have built this year. Certainly potential for Verge or RTD to step up and be 3rd heat leader but both will need to if the Warriors are going to have a great deal of success with some question marks elsewhere in the team.

    Belle Vue Colts 2019

Smith was just a victim of not progressing and the club looking to freshen things up. He managed to put .21 on his average all season which is pretty much treading water. Whilst he may have the benefit of family ties with B.V (which many do not have the luxury of) he was starting to stagnate and a move on will benefit him in the longer term rather than rely on the protection of a legacy.

Any half decent young Dane doesn't need 4 years to get a team place over here but would happily be proven wrong.

Didn't think id ever say this but id be happier with Ruddick than either of Glasgows reserve pairing!!!

    NL AGM 2018

Thought id heard that Rye House is no longer SCB licenced......certainly plenty to be sorted out before a team gets on track.... plus i hope the Dugard you are referring to is Martin as Kelsey isn't worth 0.35.

Just makes the ruling of no NL teams allowed assets all the more ridiculous. Brum could have spent the years in the lower league recruiting and placing themselves in a much stronger position moving forward.

    Isle of Wight 2019

Not unexpected and not bad. Certainly quick enough on the bike but down on competitive laps compared to many others stepping up this year and teenage temperament needs addressing prior to the pressure cooker of league racing.

    Belle Vue Colts 2019

Unfortunate for Mellish big fan base at the club but looks like a victim of the new 2 point rule? An injury reduction would have likely brought him in on 3.03 and as per last years rules likely to feature in the side.

    Birmingham Brummies 2019

Agreed, Looks like a business signing rather than the best option with the points available. Ultimately if Brum are to survive at a higher level there will be a season or two of building and preparation i just hope that the team can be competitive enough to keep the fan base through the tougher early years.

S/MDL is not a place for wobblers, its a place for riders who are honing their skills to get themselves to NL standard. Wobblers should be running in amateur meetings until they are development league standard (i agree there are a few that shouldn't be in there) but there are also plenty of talented and dedicated lads in those leagues and who would appreciate a little more support as they may become one of the many to graduate from them and prosper in league speedway.

    Belle Vue Colts 2019

Looks a decent side and in fact despite the lower points limit looks better than last years. Providing Woodhull is still interested he should improve, Palin will likely be another Edwards style rider (namely great debut year but overshadowed by a few others). Verdict is still out on Rathbone as he has A1 equipment and is quick out front but is he quick enough and can he pass?. Otherwise providing there re not too many fixture clashes with Flint & Bickley it looks a potential top 4 side.

    Belle Vue 2019

Craig had plenty of horsepower in Poland and spent plenty with the big tuners who knew what they were doing. Lack of technique/setup technique cost him out there. Certainly an international rider but in reality an international also ran. The SEC would benefit him if he can put in decent showings in that company.

Perhaps if you are so much in favour of progress and the building of 2100 houses all over a much loved and supported speedway venue you could pop along and volunteer to be part of the footings.

    NL AGM 2018

I assume Perry is on the 4+ list as well ? Going to make things interesting in 2020 if the rule stays the same and all those doubling up this year do alright for a period of time.

    Plymouth 2019

Its nothing against Jamie its just that the whole 2 pointer rules have been brought in but without any clarity. There is allegedly a rule update to be released in Jan, why? why can the rules not be published when they were decided at the AGM......or were there a load of oversights that need clearing up.

    Plymouth 2019

Any side who secured the services of Richard Andrews for the upcoming season should be very happy. Quick question time, Adam Sheppard gets a 2.01 average having previously been declared in a 1-7? Jamie Bursill was also in the IOW 1-7 so surely gets a 2.01 average too?

    New PJR GM.

Any ideas of the spec of the gm nx? apart from looking cool what are the advantages of this over the current crop of gm's.

    Mildenhall 2019

Leek is an odd one, had a couple of years at NL now and still not upped his 3.00 average despite having a home track advantage BUT i certainly cannot fault his effort due to the pure amount of travelling every week. Closer to home may suit him but still feel he has quite a way to go in approach and setup but maybe a change will do him good.

    Isle of Wight 2019

Top signing, really proved he can score on big tracks too last season and creates a solid scoring platform for the Warriors.

Buxton - epitomy of NL racing?

its tricky because up and down the country there are the loads of amateurs and development riders who do it for absolutely zero financial reward. Riding NL should be seen and treated as a subsidised hobby, the chance to do something you really enjoy with some funds coming back in. All the non league riders have to pay for everything themselves, still take time off work to travel up and down the country on terrible days and are not ever guaranteed a ride. If NL went purely amateur or £10 a point max the standard would drop a bit briefly as the current crop stepped aside but it would soon pick up again and become far more about actual rider ability rather than who has the deepest pockets.

    Mildenhall 2019

I still feel Sam is a little too reckless for my personal liking but his bravery brings points. Id be far more excited about the signing of Brooks, closer to home, excellent assistance and mega potential. Still think he would suit a bigger track better but maybe that is why he should be at smaller circuits to develop.

    Plymouth 2019

Have done just that and has shed some much needed light on the situation, also very refreshing to see & hear the honest workings and thought processes to team building.

    Leicester NL 2019

Strong number one in the current league and making the Cubs look more of a force to be afraid of. Shame the 2 x 2 pointer rule exists, i fear this side could run with 3 or 4 and still make the play offs.
