This Seasons Number 7s
Sings4Speedway replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Whilst i completely agree that the most learning will be done in the pits all riders at whatever level want to be out on track and i think the hardest hit to confidence will be being told they are being dropped from a ride rather than being out on track trying to score points. Whilst it would never work (because the rule would easily be abused) if both reserves had to take 4 rides the team mates would have to look at helping them the best they can rather than looking for the ideal heat to replace them in. -

Will certainly be interesting to see which approach works best? Teams like Belle Vue, Rye House & Wolves will probably see their reserves stay reserves all season whereas Somerset, Leicester & Poole look to always have a strong number 6 whoever moves up/down. -
and in the same note its all well and good finding a prospect that rides other tracks well but if they cannot get to grips with Lakeside they could be in bother before they start

At least he wasn't on Page 3 although i guess riders have to make money any way they can in the close season -

If that is true it's the best news I have heard all winter -

Graversen Ayres Smith Bailey Shanes Perks Wajtknecht Greaves However as the reserves are no longer protected most will only get 3 rides a meeting and be swapped out of heat 8 in favour of their stronger reserve partner. The sport as its nature is sink or swim so there may be some who suffer a confidence drop but if 2 or 3 make it then i would call it a success. -
Could be a competitive try out then if Mac is down plus I'd expect Saul, bowdrey, Parker and possibly cousins to be in attendance?
-
I think it's purely down to lakeside being a higher tier team and not needing to know who is a decent prospect. To be fair it's a good shout to see who can adapt to the technical track the quickest but a day before a meeting might be a bit tight

Spot on I'm afraid. Think the Brumby side has too many passengers against one of the best line ups in the league. -
King's Lynn Stars 2017
Sings4Speedway replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
When looking at the rest of the number 7's most are around NL number 1 standard so all Kings Lynn need to do is match this and they will pick up points. Mountain or Davey would both be good shouts especially away from home. Not sure if Dan Greenwood is available on a 2 point average but if you are looking for a rider that isn't overworked he might be worth a shout? -

The support class does equate to the MDL(RIP) but the lower end of it, those looking to move into the NL need to be in the Open and mixing it with the faster riders like O'Keefe, Parker etc. In fairness to Luke as im only looking at the scores from one meeting but Alex Spooner scored double his points, is only Kents number 8 and also has some work to do to score NL points. -
USA dream team visiting Kent on 26th June. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Gino features in that meeting

How Many Riders Have Switched To Leather Race Suits For 2017 Season
Sings4Speedway replied to Shale Searcher's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Agreed. Who makes them? I can see a company design of a skull & crossbones inside a spade? Except for Newman's who looks likes he went to JC Pro (Dugards) ? -

In fairness queen liz would have finished the 2016 season with a higher average than harvie banks. That said it's a like for like swap and hopefully he gets a decent run in the side. -
Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick
Sings4Speedway replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
He must have come on quite a bit since i last saw him ride as from memory all of the others on this thread would be a good distance ahead? Apologies slight miscommunication. I was told there is quite a bit more of Mullins than the last time he rode. In the company of Laurence, Whitmore & A.N.Other he was made to look quite average (but equally i have little idea amount the amount of track time they have had vs Mullins) -

From what I heard from the Peterborough practice yesterday both leek and Parker may be a good shout. I was told that Parker looked decent but mullins was looking very rusty and much more of a rider than before he retired last time -
Whilst I wasn'the convinced Harland should have been avaluable on a 3.00 (partly jealousy as that's a bargain average ) I still think he should have been allowed in on a 3.5 as per the precident set last season. Sadly the NL will probably be the poorer without his inclusion
-
Whilst im not against the point that we should be trying/hoping for the the next big stars the fact is there are simply not enough youngsters of sufficient quality coming through to flood the NL with them. In addition all the riders didnt get team places based upon age they got them because they are good enough. Personally i feel there is becoming a conveyor belt of riders from the youth rounds straight in to the NL just because they are young. Personally if you are good enough you get a place simple, if there is a rider better whether they be 15 or 25 its the quality of rider that is required to enhance British speedway and restoring the need to be on your game to acquire/retain a team place with age being irrelevant.
-
Excellent. Means i can make a few trips up without risk of having my afternoon spoilt
-
Agreed not started but skill honed in the MDL (list also forgets Danny Ayres & Ellis Perks as MDL to premiership graduates). Out of interest Phil how would you react if the higher powers had interfered with the NJL and insisted it became a 4 vs 4 500cc competition?
-
Congratulations you are now officially my least favourite "contributor" to this forum. Non stop misery, doom & gloom. Must be wonderful to stood next to you on race day. Are you likely to attend any Lakeside matches this season?
-
Not every rider is going to double up so who do they have to learn from. It's also not only young riders that need assistance. However as seen time and time again all the words of experience and knowledge are useless if they are ignored
-
A lot of the issue is that riders don't come across grippy tracks enough to learn how to ride them. If all the NL does is set up slick tracks how will riders be prepared for the next step up?

The Goalposts Have Moved So...
Sings4Speedway replied to thebaron's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Whilst i certainly don't like what has happened to the Cov riders i don't agree with the point that all brits should get places over foreigners just because of nationality. The only way to make brit riders more attractive as signings is to reduce their averages at the end of each season but leave the overseas riders of the achieved / assessed ave's. -
As most seasons gone by the teams who have built competitive teams and supply good racing will get good crowds. The danger befalls those who have had a decent few years but then have a real shocker of a season for one reason or another. However as mentioned by many previous posters the constant fiddling by the powers that be are doing nothing positive for the sport along with the spiraling costs mean i will be choosing when and where i watch my speedway a lot more carefully this season.
