    Cradley Heathens 2017

Do you happen to have the results from the open class from this weekend? Can only find the results from 27th November.

    Cradley Heathens 2017

Is Bradley UK or New Zealand based? must have been tough financially last season trying to survive on NL reserve money only!

    Gerhard Engine

On that basis i suppose i could remove the seal of another competitors engine and prevent them from using it in a BSPA event? All hypothetical of course. Same goes for a rider who crashes and knocks the seal off? Whilst im not against a new engine being introduced as i feel its essential there is variety i just don't see how the sealed engine idea would be enforced. Much in the same way that if everybody used a sealed GTR some would be happier with the output than others. Its common knowledge that tuners will build several engines, a rider will take them to a track, try everyone and pick their preferred few from the bunch. So if the top riders all got to do this with batches of GTR engines it would mean the lower ranks would still be at a disadvantage.

    Gerhard Engine

If i was to purchase one of these engines then surely i can do with it what i choose? I can accept that if the seal is broken it would invalidate any warranty that it is supplied with (whatever that warranty may be worth?). Additionally what happens if i or another awkward sole was to walk along and cut the seal off of somebody's Gerhard engine?

    Mildenhall 2017

I think thats the danger for a lot of teams this season with a "star" reserve. It only works if they can be kept at reserve like Brum managed this season otherwise the threat is neutralised when they move into the main body of the team. The top 3 is as good as anybodys but if any of them have a off night/afternoon im not sure the tail is capable of picking up the slack?

    Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick

Ive largely given up when attempting to apply logic to team signings within speedway.

    King's Lynn Young Stars 2017

Oh dear not a great day for many by the sounds of things. Best wishes to all those who had mishaps fingers crossed nothing serious for any riders.

    King's Lynn Young Stars 2017

Would have been very happy if Ryan had signed for Kent. Looks to be improving every season and i would rather see that than just one spectacular year then level out. Has a good style, good gating & the luxury of a family tuning business to ensure his engines are always in good order.

    Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick

Certainly tricky to think who will line up at reserve for Brum given most of the obvious options have gone however they are aware of the importance of solid reserves however in fairness last years duo were unearthed elsewhere & the year before Waj exceeded expectations despite excellent pedigree. For this season the only ones i can think of with Birmingham links would be Alex Wilson, Robert Parker, Adam Kirby, Eryk Borzuch (pending UK Passport), Kenny Bowdrey or the number 8 from this year who retired before the season started?

    Lakeside 2017

Stoneman & 2 x 3 pointers would fit perfectly and make a very solid heat leader trio however it would force either Bowtell or Hunter to be at 4 which would add quite a bit of pressure onto the third heatleader. That said if the reserve picks are good then its shaping up to be a pretty competitive side.

    Plymouth 2017 N/l?

In my view a number 8 is a great thing if they are actually used. However with the restrictions that they can only take RR rides and most teams favour using their other riders limits the chances for the riders pushing for a full team slot. Personally i believe it should be guests for riders at 1,3,& 5 and compulsory use of number 8 for a missing 2,4,6 & 7. That way it would give the opportunities to those who need them rather than drag riders along to meetings and then not use them.

    Cradley Heathens 2017

Three great heat leaders there and i think any team would be happy with that line up. However a big chunk of points used up and if Lawlor is over 3 he may have to start the season at number 2? Much will depend on who the last signings are but so far Cradley have a mix of dependability, entertainment and a rider in Greenwood who should put 2 points on his average.

    Mildenhall 2017

Bet the west row faithful are doing cartwheels of delight. Was always likely due to his connections but hasn't really improved over 2 seasons and at times can be borderline dangerous to himself & others. Has the potential if his kit is upgraded as its pretty pants but i suspect he will be at reserve pretty quickly and nullify the potent threat from Jenkins.

    Plymouth 2017 N/l?

No huge surprises but the capture of Henry Atkins is a very good move. Loads of potential & excellent equipment which could see him as one of the top 3 pointers this season. Walker has had 2 seasons at NL and is still barely above 3 so needs to kick on and may find life tough if he is the main body of the team. Andrews & Smart if fit will be very solid at home but can go missing on their travels but have plenty of race wins in them. Sadly number 8's are a bit pointless with the current rules and so is the signing of Saul Bulley.

    Plymouth 2017 N/l?

Four riders and number 8 named tonight any guesses? I will plump for Henry Atkins, Callum Walker, Nick Phillips & Ellis Perks with the number 8 either Stevie Andersen or George Piper. Based on nothing other than geographic locations & previous links to the club/promoters.

    Kent Kings 2017

Sheer lunacy from Len. A side with Bowen, Thomas, Hopwood & Shanes would leave 9.35 for the remaining 3 positions. The two reserves are likely to be 3 pointers anyway so another at no.2 is no real hardship. There will still be several teams built this way like Mildenhall. Unless Kent can pull out a big signing who will entertain and deliver its going to be a long year for the Kings.

    Kent Kings 2017

Shocker if that is true. If Hopwood is on the list then a genuine number 5 is a must and the amount of feasible / available signings are dropping rapidly. Stoneman or Bacon could do a good job but im not sure there are many others available. Worse still is i could see other teams making changes to accommodate an available Shanes

    Lakeside 2017

Don't worry im sure it will pick up as the season progresses. Also team announcements make for interesting debate so as further riders are announced it should pick up. I can see the lure of Rye House but only if a decent team is visiting as whatever calibre of rider is there nobody wants to watch a one sided event. Personally i hope they are running on Saturdays as it means i will be able to attend Lakeside a few times over the season.

    Kent Kings 2017

Where did you see/hear that? BIG shock if it turns out to be correct. Bowen is a big chunk of the team building averages but he is also more dependable than the other 2. I like them both but they are both prone to having a few off days which rarely happens with Bowen.

    Poultec Speedway Training Course

Given the current record where the words National Speedway...... are used as prefix i suspect it will be beautifully presented but end in a right balls up!

    Redcar 2017

Oh 'eck! i was hoping to encourage him not make matters worse!

    Redcar 2017

As a matter of interest have you considered watching NL? The double points rule has been scrapped there. Im not going to pretend that the standard isn't different because it is but the entertainment level is high as is the unpredictability of heats & matches. Not sure what NL tracks you would be close to though?
  23. Sings4Speedway

    Poultec Speedway Training Course

Top performers that immediately spring to mind are Jack Thomas, James Shanes, Connor Mountain & the previously mentioned Danyon Hume. These riders all certainly could have "made it" on their own however the training & backing of the Poultec academy must have helped accelerate the process and long may it continue.

    Kent Kings 2017

I just can't see Shanes riding anywhere else. Monday night racing fits nicely with his longtrack adventures and he is sponsored by Silver Ski. Hopwood is the bargain rider this winter. I did initially think he would be at Cradley/Brum but rumours are gathering pace about his inclusion at Central Park. I love Danny as both a rider & person but always suspected he would be on the move over the winter as Len would never get rid of Shanes and Bowen is a consistent strong performer. Add in that Danny would most likely miss several meetings doubling up and its actually a sensible move. Im sure Uncle Len will make some strange choices at reserve to level things out though.

    Kent Kings 2017

Actually i am. All good at most tracks and all can go well at Kent however "if" the Kent team includes Bowen, Thomas, Hopwood & Shanes then the matches at Arlington could make for some unpleasant viewing as an Eagles supporter. (FYI i didnt rate the 2015 Brum side and they still won the league so what do i know )
