  1. I have to say I was surprised Panthers won this meeting.

I know Lakeside had not ridden as a team but I believe they had all had competitive rides prior to yesterday, certainly those doubling with Swindon had ridden a few times, whereas only Scott had taken part in any form of meeting on the Panthers side.

On paper it was always going to be a tough meeting for Panthers so it was pleasing to actually get the win.

As to who did what, the score card shows .. but I thought Tom Bacon looked more on the pace than previously and probably deserved a bit more points wise.

I still believe that it will be a difficult season for this Panthers team, but we are running and off with a win.

Let's hope it's the same the rest of the weekend as well.

Doesn't matter now what the weather does for the next 3 days, the track will not dry enough. It will be cold and cloudy.

The only thing that could of saved the meeting was 3 or 4 days of sunshine/wind and a temperature about 25 to 30 degrees higher than its going to be!!

It was brilliant idea because attendances could easily ( they thought ) match those at PL and CL football matches ( if everyone knew about it ). It was just the promoting of the name change where the idea fell down  and the crowds didn't materialise.

Apart from that .... complete success!!

  4. Speedway should have used TV coverage to promote itself ... that word is the ultimate problem!! It didnt.

The opportunity was there for those in charge at the time to give it a re imaging, it should have taken a hard look at sports such as darts and especially Rugby League who just about gave a rebirth to their sports image.

Unfortunately Speedway plodded along with the old, tired meeting format from a wandering amble of centre green staff to the tune of Fanfare for the Common Man or similar soundtrack to endless gaps in racing for numerous reasons.

The chance for reviving the sport has now, unfortunately, IMO, gone.

Not everything makes it to the News release as well we all know.

Actually I might have to revise my previous statement when I said that Ged had signed Scot in December or January. I'm told he signed him before the AGM and it was well known.

That may account for why the rule was brought in!!!!!

  6. Having followed Panthers for over 40 years I can tell you that winning 2 trophies in a year was a bl%*\y good year!!

There are not many DVD's in my collection of Panther's winning things but I will enjoy watching the latest 2 over the winter!!

Obviously the KO cup was fortunate to say the least but a fantastic effort to get to the final.

The 4's was stunning after the breaking of Holdergate.

In the last few years the biggest battle for us is to ensure that we come to tapes come March!

It appears that battle has been won for another year, for that I am extremely grateful to Ged.

We need to move on from Holder and support the riders who come to tapes next year.

Uli is Uli, I have never been a big fan of Lambert but the way he rode at the end of last season was unbelievable! If they are in the 7 next year then that's fine as I will still be able to watch and hope to at some point adding to my DVD's which is what following any team is all about!!

  7. Having watched the Lublin vs Rzeszow live on internet yesterday where Lambert was untroubled in posting a 12pt max in the twelve heats that were run, and then took part in the celebrations, I wonder how he is now injured (excuses written on a toilet roll addressed to George English as it's appropriate for a load of Tom Kite!)

See for yourself - here is a link to the full match & enjoy Robert joining in the festivities during the last 10 minutes of the broadcast:-

He has been known to injure himself loading his bikes into his van previously .... maybe something similar???

  8. As quoted from Ged the day before the 4's:

"I fully understand that some of our supporters may be disappointed that we are without Jack tomorrow in the Fours, but I ask them all to understand that the deal we've done is beneficial to all parties.

"I'm not going to expand on that, but I urge them to trust my judgement as they've always done since I stepped in to keep speedway going in Peterborough in late 2014."

And how does that work ?????
