  1. Of course...but my comment was based on the original transition during 1995/96 (?) when that was the exact scenario and the same discussion that took place then. Going back to uprights would only re-create the same issues and for whose benefit?
  2. Remember Kelly Moran giving one a try and saying how much more difficult it was to handle...and this from one of the most naturally gifted riders! Personally I felt that it was yet another move that only resorting in making the sport more expensive with riders having to adapt and for what benefit?

    Notoriously Dirty Riders

Remember watching him at Poole on one occsaion and after doing all the hard work by coming thru' from the back inexplicably proceeded to fall off when well clear.

    Notoriously Dirty Riders

It was the commentary I was referring too.

    Notoriously Dirty Riders

Reminds me of the story years ago when Chris Pusey was leaning over the fence laughing at the wild antics of a novice only for Ivan Mauger to comment that's how you look when out on the track but only much faster!

    Notoriously Dirty Riders

I put him in the same mould as Simon Cross another who tended to ride 'over the top' and sometimes gave the impression that he wasn't totally in control on occasions.

Wolverhampton Indoor Speedtrack 12th January 1972

I remember attending an Entomolgical Show there on a couple of occasions.

Didn't Wilson have something to do with ending Jan Stechmann's career?

    Olle Nygren

Brilliant analysis on one of the best riders never to have won the Individual World Championship.
  15. ...ah but it attracted crowds back then.

    Notoriously Dirty Riders

I recall on one of my "History of Speedway" DVD's a rider having fallen got up and started to adjust his goggles and a back marker ploughed straight into him!

    RIP Olle Nygren

I think he lived in Felixstowe?
  18. Has anyone tried to order the Kelvin Tatum book? Is it any good? Apparently you can order via Curtis Sport but their Web-Site appears to be devoid of any mention (or anything else speedway related in my recent experience?)

First meeting-how many riders still alive.

Something that John Berry used to refer to whereby he made it very difficult for opponents attempting to pass seemingly covering both the white line and fence!

First meeting-how many riders still alive.

Recall reading that he was instrumental in Ipswich winning at Sheffield in 1972 when some members of the "Tigers" team were making a nuisance of themselves and Olle decided to get tough with them.

    RIP Olle Nygren

One of Swedish speedway's pioneers. RIP

    Olle Nygren

That's very sad news. One of the greats in my opinion and helped greatly to get Sweden on the map speedway wise. Will always cherish my time when I attended one of his training schools at King's Lynn. RIP Varg-Olle.

Book "Tales From The Top Drawer" by Kelvin Tatum

I'm working thru' the book and there appears to be more emphasis on his Longtrack exploits which is understandable, I guess, considering his success at that particular discipline of racing but personnally I have little interest in Longtrack racing and would have preferred to have read more about his times at Wimbledon and Coventry, in particular, which was quickly brushed over.

I think that there were three (?) and I attended two. Did the first NEC one (I think that there were two (?) but never bothered with Telford...never appealed to me personally.
