As a neutral and an SCB registered track official I accept that the referee made his decision for his own reasons. He had to make a decision and stick by it. What I do not accept is fans applauding a riders mistake, perhaps some jovial reaction to an innocuous looking slide off at low speed if the rider is clearly ok. However. even those can hurt. But when a rider high sides trying to race and entertain us, like Garrity did, no wonder tempers flare when those close to riders react when their lad could have sustained a serious injury. Some there today, unfortunately have witnessed the ultimate injury, so those 'fans' who thought it funny think about it. The final losers of the day were the handful of juniors, caught up innocently in all of the tension that spilled over at the end, who lost the opportunity to have a ride after all it will have cost them/parents to have prepared for that expected ride. Those responsible for their disgraceful behaviour are not doing British speedway any good. I hope Nigel Pearson has a word in the right ears.

Dudley Heathens Vs. Buxton Hitmen 05/10

His first bend riding was that of a GP rider tonight. Belief, control (sorry Branflake)and tenacity. He was excluded because he was riding beyond NL normal standard and his skills were intimidating the other riders around him. Jason now has to progress gradually now in each tier of the sport which is like most riders do, the exceptions being, Briggo, Lee, Collins, Morton,Thorpy,Carter The Morans and now Sayfudinov. Only problem was they all just couldn't wait that long. Lets hope Jason can join that illustrious band of riders.

Dudley Heathens Vs. Buxton Hitmen 05/10

I have read Edwardians post and I appreciate he was on the end of a costly repair and I hope he recovered pretty quickly financially. It is unfortunately part of racing. What we have here is a special talent. Remember watching the late great Kenny Carter once at Barrow, Jason has the same gusto about his riding how he is in the pits after a race. As posted before there are loads of good riders out there but every now and again someone comes along, catches the eye virtually every time they get on a bike. All of a sudden that becomes something you do not want to miss and it ends up as clicks through the turnstile.............Last night he put in a great performance, even the most Brummie of Heathens supporters must have enjoyed witnessing twice in a month someone who could go places cutting their teeth on their track.................and yes don't forget he's a Manchester lad!!!!

    Most Improved Nl Rider

I agree with most of the posts and to me the future of English talent is looking good. One rider who does stand out to me whilst statistics do not necessarily support what I say is young Jason Garrity. Anyone who saw the way he attacked the Scunthorpe track last bank holiday Monday saw a real gem of a rider and trier. He impressed all with his style, balance and his belief that he can pass anyone. Whilst his average has been diluted by the falls he has had this season, quite often whilst well placed we could see some excellent and exciting riding next year and a vastly improved rider. I also remember the days when Peter Collins in his first year was a regular faller until he got it right.

Live about 12 miles from the track, have had rain all night. Very light drizzle as I write but the forecast this afternoon looks promising to get the meeting on with some light drizzle expected about 4:00 pm. I am sure there will be a track inspection this morning in time for the visiting fans, if Jayne gives it the thumbs up then the outlook is rosy. Looking forward to this one. Ever the eternal optomist

Dudley Heathens Vs Buxton Hitmen - Tuesday 14th September

First visit to Monmore Green to see racing at this level. I was not disappointed and the standard was a real advert for NL league knockers. Twice in the past few weeks (Scunny) away Buxton stole the show and put on an entertaining meeting. It is what NL is all about giving the opportunity for young riders to cut their teeth or pursue their love of the sport if they are now looking at dentures. As a visiting fan I was impressed with Dyer, never heard of him before but a real trier and demonstrated in heat 1 good speed. The Hitmen did the travelling supporters proud, I note the slight criticism of Garrity but after that shocking workshop accident last year where he nearly lost two fingers and a season, I guess the the former under 15 National champion is trying to make up for lost time so his exhuberance is possibly a consequence of this. He is a trier, entertainer and his balance on occasions reminds me of Mort and the Morans. We need riders like him to boost UK speedway. The lad from Manchester is doing ok! Once again a very entertaining meeting apart form the terrace fracas at the end.

I know Cookie won heat 15 but couldn't understand why Allott didn't get the nod as he was a higher scorer and Cookie did not seem himself

    Grand Prix Challenge.

Sorry posted this thread before realising Scotty never went down the qualifying road..der!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Grand Prix Challenge.

How come Scotty is not in the field as it would have been a good track to have a last hance of next years GP. I personally will be gutted that he will be missing next year, with all due respect to CH I do not think overall he is as good. However we do need a couple of Brits to cheer and my replacement on that basis would have to be Tai

    British Under 18 Final

Am I missing something here. Have ben awaiting his return from the hand injury sustained pre season but apart from I think one turnout at Mildenhall for Buxton have not seen him on a teamsheet anywhere. What's happened to him?

    Charlie Webster

Charlie did a great job ad libbing during the rain off 'timeout' in in Poland yesterday no doubt with a producer yelling instructions in her ear piece. For what it is worth one of my daughter's best friends presents on SKY SPORTS and I can tell you now she is almost boring in her quest to learn everything there is to know in what she comments on and all sports in general as she never knows where her next job is coming from. It takes time and I am sure she will get better. I think she is already super and pleasant on the eye too. I got back into speedway again after say nearly a 20 year break, to come back wondering who Gollob, Adams.Nicholls and Pederen were. It seems ridiculous some five years on now they are household names.Chances are Charlie didn't know who these people were six months ago so it will take her time just like it has for Suzi Perry with road racing

    Swc Race-off

Well said.............perhaps with hindsight a break from this competition may do Scotty good. I hope he sits back reflects on just how good he is, definately top 5 if not top Brit for years to come, re groups and does his talking on the track .As I sit here watching the play offs I do not think Lyon has done anything to help Scotty's cause and he is entitled to his game plan. If he has upset Scotty in anyway that is his perogative as a manager. Lets just hope we can all put this Scotty thing to bed and I sincerely hope that as an Aces supporter with no allegiance to Scotty at all other than recognising that a good rider does not generally become bad overnight does his best interviews over all of this on the track.

    Swc Race-off

Lyon got it wrong here. I think if we really wanted a chance of qualifying for the final then Scotty should have been included and probably Lewis/Tai the casualty...poss Lewis as Tai does ride well in Poland better than the UK. To be honest no-one can deny Danny his hurrah based on his Peterborough heroics but I think he will struggle tonight. I hope that I am proven wrong as I am passionate as anyone about GB doing well. At the end of the day the saying 'horses for courses' came about long before speedway bikes were invented. If you look at Speedway Star for Polish/Swedish results Scotty is clearly getting back towards his best. People have short memories of those confidence winning GP rides in the last two meetings and his league form is definately on the up. He is still not a finished rider and whatever anyone says I would almost like to take a wager that he is British Champion again next year. The bloke has taken a kicking for a tactical decision to give it his best shot in the GP's this year, got off to a dreadful confidence sapping start, ate humble pie and came back again more so than what Lyon has done by ignoring all of the aforementioned pointers of his form returning.
