Swindon 2016 - A New Era Starts...we Thought..
Return of Odin replied to dump that clutch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If we do add Michelsen and Morris I'd be pretty pleased with that. Feel a bit for Zengi, couldn't have done much more for us last year and a cracking fella -

Pleased with bottom of team - Neilsen and Wright really good and Sedge has come on loads and I'm sure will improve further. What does that leave points wise and what are people's opinions of the rest of the side, Doyle Morris and ?? -

Honestly don't know what I think of that team - "no thanks" was my first reaction to be honest but maybe has some potential -

Yeah wouldn't mind that, 2 big guns and some potential improvement there as well. I'd also be keen on Bjerre actually -

The sooner this aforementioned list is published the better!! Regarding the point about Batchelors potential to improve upon his current average. I don't dispute that, my issue and the issue of others is more with his lack of performance when it really mattered and subsequent comments. I'd love to see Michelson or ThJ, what average Kornelliussen? -

In any side you build you need people with the potential to significantly improve their average. I rate Doyle highly and thought Zengi was fabulous at times last year the challenge is can either kick on again and improve significantly, would be hard for them. Morris has improved year on year amd probably would again, however would also be tough for him to put a point for example on his average. If we go with those 3 we need second strings with real potential, I'd be keen to see Sam Masters who in my view has real potential to improve his average . Kildemand is a steal and absolute must if he is interested any suggestion where else we go for "wildcard with massive potential to improve? -

Couldn't agree more with this. GP rider scores 0 he should apologise to the people who pay his wages. I have absolute respect for anyone who rides a speedway bike but Troy chooses to and we choose to pay his wages by attending. I also visited the back straight "facilities" surprised they haven't been declared a site of special scientific interest !!!! Sam Masters looked fab, track very dry which didn't help racing. A wonderful and fitting sunset was the last thing I saw there -

Just wouldn't want Batch back I'm afraid, respect all speedway riders but just don't have any appetite to pay my hard earned watch him anymore -
Will be an interesting winter in many regards. Team building will be curious, I personally still have some time for the old way of allocate a points limit and let people build a team as they see fit, but we'll doubtless have rules about the number >8 or >7 or in the GP series once again. As others have said the fast track principle needs looking at, whilst positive in some regards once people are scoring 5 ride maximums it needs to be reviewed. Rosco has said a couple of time we need an out and out #1. Unless we get some riders we don't expect deciding to do the UK in 2016 I assume that can only really be Doyle or Kildemand, yes I know the latter wasn't great in the play-offs but no disputing he's a #1 in my mind. After that there are a number of "big hitters" around on losish averages, maybe because they aren't consistent as they once were or maybe as a result of the new meeting format, possibly both, I;m thinking Andersen, Lindgren, Harris, Bjerre etc, good recruitment here I think could make all the difference as some of these guys will still win meetings and could add significantly to their averages. For Swindon I hope PK decides to do the UK, with a likely GP spot this is possibly not going to happen but with a <7 average an absolute steal. if we want a genuine #1 then Doyle is an option. Batchelor can go for me, just doesn't show up when needed and I think his performance in the recent play offs have left lots of fans very frustrated. Morris and Zengi both had good years, but have fairly high averages now, which might make accommodating them both difficult, Zengi was fabulous this year at times, think we all know Rosco would plump for Morris though if given a choice. PK, Morris, Zengi, Andersen, Summers would make us pretty competitive and probably affordable??

Nice to hear, such a tragedy, he really was an absolute joy to watch at Blunsdon, well just about every where actually.

Not sure where Phil resides these days?? They mentioned on Sky on Monday that he was quite unwell so could be unlikely. Hope he recovers, my first memories of Speedway were watching the near unbeatable Phil Crump tear around the Abbey or contest the Bronze(?) Helmet. I assume we can expect Zagar (although Al clearly upset him), Kornellieusen, North, Kennett, Nicholls, Allen?? Would love to see some GP types and maybe some guys from the past, be delighted to see Gjedde at Blunsdon again. Sooner the better in terms of starting to release the names. -
He's not a #1 in my eyes and never has been, for the World #8 to perform like that is just unacceptable. I'd never really appreciated quite how strong his "reluctance to mix it" was until pointed out. However he is what we used to call a "gating tart". I honestly believe (and I get we have other concerns currently) that if we want to be successful in 2016 we need to go in another direction. Mr Batchelor would be welcome to "explore other opportunities"
