Thanks for that splendid accolade! Losing Kennett has probably seen off Rye’s season now especially at home. Roll on next season when we hopefully will be back in the Championship.
-
IF Hopwood lives in the north then it makes sense for him to ride there. Alfie If signed would do an excellent job.
-
The haves and the have nots will always be the case. In the past promoters would have gentlemen’s agreements about who ride where and avoid an imbalance but it still occurred. I agree that Eastbourne and Birmingham have vested interests in running challenging teams as probably Lakeside would do if they were still in this league. I see Kent as having the right balance and say good luck to Mildenhall who have harvested an exceptional group of talented riders.

Bang on and an amalgamation of Prem and Champ will be necessary. Thee will be a big difference in strength between the top riders and second string and then reserves in each team but it will give opportunities. I would advocate changing the race order to give more balance to the heats - it’s been done before. Averages will go haywire but that’s a small price to pay.

5 pointers do not grow on trees so who do you suggest?

Don’t Danish riders miss Wednesday’s a lot?

If the ‘asset’ were developed by the club then I think the system would be valid. Holder as an example but for a club to just sign an established rider and then call him their asset doesn’t seem right. Most of Ford’s assets are available to others as he can’t use them all due to team averages. This season however it’s costing him as some don’t want to ride in the UK.

Is Milik a Poole asset?
-
So my guess is it is a ‘few’ that profit from the many.
-
It was a tongue in cheek comment and not constructive. However there are different opinions as to where the answer lies.
-
To me the asset system is there to avoid paying extortionate transfer fees. A bit like the loan system in football.

At some stage the question will be asked where and how UK speedway can continue and not go broke. Better we ask it now than let a few (teams promoters owners) carry on as if nothing can be done and we run it the same way till it’s gone.
-
It must change next season that’s for sure unless the bspa have some form of death wish for UK speedway. Go back to the 70’s and allow one foreigner per team! Where would Poole be then!
-
Some of Janowski’s wages is probably via his sponsors. Polands system of rewards for riders is totally different to UK.
-
If Klindt’s performance I witnessed tonight is the norm then Poole have got real problems!

Rye House Vs Kings Lynn Stars Mon 28/ 05/2018

What would that be new stadiums, pay the riders unsustainable wages or race on the same day of the week? -
Scrap the lot go back to basics and only sign riders who can commit to UK for season. It will reduce costs and hopefully admission prices.

Poole v Leicester Prem A. 30/5/18

So going forward if weather patterns are changing with dryer winters and wetter spring into summer will Poole like other venues just do nothing? -

Rye signed Woffenden when he 16 and you could see he was a talent that just needed nurturing in the right way. The first season he helped Rye win the championship and topped the averages if I recall. Len Silver said that there was never any pressure or expectation put on Tai and all he wanted was for him to enjoy riding his motorcycle. We only have to look at the number of false dawns that have befallen young riders, some shine bright early but never improve beyond Championship level but we need all types of riders otherwise how can the best riders be measured. -
Clegg needs to ride in the Championship for more rides.
-
I sometimes wonder how Poland and Sweden (supporters) accept promotion and relegation when you consider the strength of the top league teams.
-
So as a Poole fan Steve would you accept watching a Championship team of riders in order to save the sport?

Poole v Leicester Prem A. 30/5/18
GWC replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Best he looks at sorting out the track otherwise there won't be a club to attract all these riders you seem to want. -
Afraid the Elite league as was has reaped what it sowed over 10 years ago with filling teams with non UK riders and having no interest in introducing a youth system. TV money pushe'd into the pockets of expensive overseas riders by all clubs so they could keep up with a couple of clubs that had the financial clout to do it. Trying to justify the UK's standing as a leading speedway nation is sliding away so quickly now - yes we have a rider on the world stage and some promising potential in some others. It's now got to the stage where we have too few riders of ability and too many clubs - shocking and unthinkable but the current solution isn't going to last without drastic action to the league set ups.

Poole can claim to have improved them as riders but to claim they only became world class because they rode for Poole isnt correct as they also ride in Sweden and Poland from an early age. They would have been given much help machinery wise than a lot of riders their age that is true. Im sure Rye House and Wolves wouldn't claim Woffenden became Worldy because he rode for them.
