    Raiders 2016

I don't want to put the lad down but Morley needs to take a look at his progress in this sport especially at this level He should be scoring twice what he did tonight and Hume is going to be quite a rider, probably when Ben is still Poodling around the NL.
  2. Rob Godfrey was all for closing Scunthorpe for the very same reason Plymouth have shut - dwindling crowd Let's hope it the numbers have improved
  3. The costs of running a speedway track/team cannot be any greater than a non league football club at National level or the next level below that, Crowds are similar and stadia are much the same with limited facilities and volunteers. There is a need for people with deep pockets to run football at that level so why should speedway be any different.
  4. The film from 1955 - 'there is another sun' is based around a funfair wall of death and Speedway. It was recently shown on Sky channel 343 and will be repeated sometime, The speedway action is from Walthamstow and only features towards the end of the film.

    Plymouth Remain Open!

Expect a scramble for riders and how many currently employed will be Pushed out to accommodate a different average # speedway life I guess!

I suppose there are exceptions as the current world champion would a good example!!

John Louis was pretty good scrambles rider (motor x in today's world) I saw him and he was streets ahead of the majority of then division 2 riders so he was an exception. A year later you had a similar rider from that background Tony Davey go straight to the top very quickly. It's as much about the ability of the rider and their attitude towards a different challenge and good equipment helps too!
  9. If that's the case then no wonder GB speedway has fallen so far behind the other nations. 12 Aussies against 6 GB riders in the Elite sums up the BSPA and their youth policy of the past 10 years but I guess the advantages that a country like Denmark have had via government funding for development puts a Different spin on it.
  10. Poole never signed GB riders when Middlo was in charge so it's a predictable trend. Historical lack of junior speedway that produces riders that have ability and confidence to ride a 500 cc bike when they get to 15 and not spend years wobbling in the national league - BSPA take most of the blame as do many tracks. The volume of riders would also be greater and therefore more likely that some will break through quicker. Is it any surprise that Australia Denmark Poland and Sweden have more riders at 19/21 in the top 100 than the UK. We are seeing grass roots of training now so let's hope in the next 5 years we see positive results. Finally attitude is a major part of any riders make up and that sometimes seems to be a challenge for the GB boys.

    Edinburgh 2016

He's still younger than when John Louis moved into the the senior league but JLwas far more Successful (and inexperienced) when he made the move. If he joins a Swdish club that suits his style then he could be a success but Poland would be very tough. I do however think he might be very good and GB need the riders!
  12. Edinburgh should now be looking to exploite being 2 times league winners and explore a new track which is purpose built Otherwise there will come a day when the developers will move in - or is it always going to be Speedway clining to the wreckage !
