Dont agree with thatTo be honest Sid I couldn't, or wish to try, listing them 1-5 in order only that I agree with the five chosen by you for each decade.
Ivan Mauger will always get my vote as the best ever rider and I feel that history would justify that.
at all,Steve? He was a great rider and he would always be near the top a great rider but for me he was not the best.

Grow up a healthy league means the league continues over a period are you that thick.😜??.?What are you on about? Scabby armchairs? I am an art dealer not furniture.
Why would I wish them luck? Now they are all sorted pleasantries are over. I hope and expect us to stuff 'em!

People forget this is a diluted product is there that much difference between the two leagues.Much of a muchness apart from a few riders we shall see.Personally think a top 3 of Nilsson, Lebedevs and Gomolski would be competing with Covs top 3 (King, K Bjerre, Garrity) and Somerset (Tungate, Houggard, Grazjconek).

Go and sell your scabby armchairs why not wish them good luck ? you ent got a clue.It is a poor team. Poole will have them for breakfast and it will be a rout at Wimborne Road.

Cant believe that Steve to be honest🤔 i felt Moore could of been top of the 50s he was that good .But god how many titles could Ove have won ? 6 or 7? the 80s is a difficult one because of Lee and Carter not having longevity along side there name.I'd have to go along with that Sid!

God if you could eat yourself you would.!!😕I should imagine most of the artwork I sell is out of your range and the pockets of the average working person.
Still if you think fine art is tat you are entitled to your opinion.

Watched him at Swindon in the Sprockets v Coventry meeting he lit the meeting up.Wheelies and everything a great value guy i wish him luck this year.Had a guest booking for Ipswich last season and made sure he enjoyed himself . He may not be a world beater but lots of effort and passion , played up to the crowd and got them going and he loved it .
You can't help but warm to him .

This side looks very interesting, strange really i quite like all of the riders.Wolbert is a surprise but he has ability the the Latvian on decent aquipment will really entertain Ayres is also a real crowd pleaser Riss has real potential. If Nilsson can set the tone in heat 1 he is a good gater Leicester will be competetive at home just great to still have Leicester still in the league.
-
Somerset will surprise good at home.Looks like a team to battle with Somerset at the foot of the table
-
I hope not one i would like the other three no.I reckon
Justin Sedgmen
Stefan Nielsen
Kenneth Hansen

Point taken Shirl as you have said both gutsy BRITS. 😅Isn't it about time we let the Howarth /Auty debate drop.
On their day they are both capable of beating anybody and it's great they are two very gutsy British riders.
I don't think it matters who is the best but I'm glad that Josh is riding for the lions again this season then on the other hand I'd be happy to have Kyle in our team too.
Thanks
Shirl

He will be this year😆😆But Auty is better so will easily top both averages, right?

WK Jack always had a reputation and i only see him ride three times but i have read that he was great with young riders advice (ect) and was a friendly bloke.Apparently Jack Millen required a Police escort out of the Stadium at Peterborough (I think).
I can't remember his offence - but it definitely happened. I think it was something to do with kicking some lights following a dubious Refereeing decision, but I could be wrong about that.

Great point and they have been rewarded with Thorssell,Wolves over the years with PK,Freddie,Wells, Scornicki (ect)have gone that way of doing there team building. Last year after a few years in the wilderness deserved there success. At Wolverhampton we've been fortunate in that respect as the club has always been loyal to riders.
Graham Jones is one I would put up as an unsung hero.
The problem is these days though Sidney is many fans moan when the 'same faces' are brought back....

In Amsterdam all i saw was ladies in the window with there breasts out i only went there to see 😆the tulips.😅Now who's the one swearing?!
Mate Swindon and that area in particular looks like a lot of things but Amsterdam is not one of them?! Lol

Most of the unsung heroes of yesteryear were often no world beaters.Today i believe fans miss out on that getting to have long term affection and respect for riders.Because of teams forever changing that now has gone i suppose at Swindon we do still have Doyley/Nick who are long term team members. In my day Keen, Duke, Hitch, Bouchard,Mastrup,Holloway,Rossiter as examples all were Swindon stalwarts and fans respected them.Wouldn't it be great to have Champions who could defend the title with the same team.
-
Mauger also was not flavour of the month at Swindon when he brought Bob Kilby off he had to get an escort out of the stadium.Wont get many from my neck of the woods nominating Goodwin after he nearly killed David Walsh one night at Shawfield
-
He broke his hand twice once in the Tungate incident but generally apart from that just the odd knock.Back wheel chasing.
-
Joe Owen/Steve Weatherley both really stylish and safe riders. It just shows you that the future is often decided by the gods.

Millen, Mullarkey, Clarke,McConnell,Goodwin,Ayres, all characters speedway could do with a few more now.

Kylmakorpi, Nilsson,Gomolski would be a decent top three no big hitter but pretty solid.Nilsson last year impressed me at the Abbey could be a big year for him. What about Berge he looks a very promising rider this year onwards and upwards for the Lions.

Great when everyone can have a opinion really interesting, be great to see all BRITS whatever level improve.😆Good grief is this argument still going on. On the basis of the plentiful evidence presented in this thread the conclusion seems quite clear - that there is little between them. If one is better than the other any difference is marginal.
Personally I'd be happy to see either of them in a team I supported, although at 22 vs 26 I think Howarth has more potential for improvement.
