P.l.p.final Sheffield V Somerset
auntie doris replied to Charlieboy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Good to see Somerset on Bbc West local news. -
New Cross - Ackney 1963 first meeting, then they folded that year. Swindon 1968-2016 but with a 30 year break in between, with short spells following Wimbledon and Workington.

I hope they have plans for new back straight bogs, with perhaps retro fittings taken from current building

21000 plus ain't a bad crowd when you think 45000 were at Cardiff. The UK has 40 million more peeps than Aussie. There is no league speedway in the country so would say considering Doyley wasn't riding they can be pleased with that. More there than the Sydney GP. And Melbourne is Aussie Rules mad, far outnumbers any other sport. What were the crowds for the 2016 series?

Most Swindon fans thought there would be no new stadium, but In Rosco We Trust, fantastic for Swindon Speed way and the town. Will it be called the Tomlinson Rosco or Russell Arena. Will enable the Robins to stay among the top clubs such as Poole and Belle Vue.

Top 20 Riders In The World 2016
auntie doris replied to waiheke1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Great to see the Swindon skip at number 1, 4 years ago he was a Robins reserve...fantastic achievement by Jase, who should have been in Melbs being crowned world champ. -
Perhaps they have lost half their fans because people are just bored, finishing mid-table winning nearly every home match and losing away. Would say Saturday is a good night for home meetings. Should never have got rid of Gromet the Comet, that's when the rot set in.
-
Kennett should be around the top? Tunny very inconsistent but has wacked in some big scores in the Elite for Swindon as has Josh G.
-
Would be sad to see Worky go, was a regular up there. in the days of stoney and steady 2004/5, good crowds averaging around 1200. What size crowds now? Good luck Comets.
-
I know they are trying to save money but one bloke with a shovel. Perhaps he gave up and went home. Hopefully some Roman Celtic and Saxon remains/artefacts will be discovered. I am thinking of going up there with me pickaxe and metal detector.
-
I saw a wheelbarrow the other day, now gone.
-
Had planned to go as we are off to Aussie in 3 weeks but glad we changed our travel plans. Bruv from Adelaide is flying in but says will be anti-climax with Swindon skipper Doyley unable to compete in own country and being crowned world champ.

Rode with Briggo first heat I ever saw at Blunsdon 1968 v. Belle Vue. Great trier and crowd fav, with his spectacular style. Like Robins stalwarts such as Keener Munday Bouchard etc great clubmen. Was at the so-called Abbey Farewell last year.

Belle Vue Vs Wolves, Grand Final 2nd Leg, 5/10/16...
auntie doris replied to Col's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A container of Hai-Karate talc would be worse -
Hopefully full recovery for our skip. Was going to Melbourne Gp but glad we changed our travel plans. Tough dude Doyley remember him breaking his neck when reserve in that superb 2012 champions team.

Wolves Vs Belle Vue, Grand Final 1st Leg, 3/10/16...
auntie doris replied to Ace no.5's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well done to the Yams, probable 3 play-off wins not finishing top, but thems the rules. Poor if a few Mancs or Wolves fans caused trouble, they weren't wearing sombreros? Down with this sort of thing at speedway, stick to football. Remember there were a few problems with the Yam Army at Swindon in 2009 Final. Its not Poland ya meatheads! -
Drove into the car park earlier no sign of anything at the mo. Swindon speedway aren't known for their p.r. we are only fans ya know.

Torun 2016
auntie doris replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Cruel luck for the Swindon skipper, just hope he's ok, well done Greg will surely be crowned world champ again in Melbourne. If Doyley can't win it then glad Greg will. Bit of an ante-climax though. -
Wolverhampton V Poole: El Play-off Semi-final 2nd Leg
auntie doris replied to Poole Quay 7's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well done to Wolves...Poole were poor, let down by the Aussies, same as Swindon were. Apart from the excellent Doyley they are unlikely to be a force next year.
