All of this cancelling meetings shenanigans needs setting down in the rules in some way, there's far too much of it going on by many clubs in all leagues

Do you honestly think that all of these cancelled meetings do the promoters any favours in today's climate. They are called off for a reason and nothing will ever change....oh,by the way,I don't need a map,I've got satnav..:-)

By the way before you think it's bulls##t I've done an IOSH health and safety exam covering heavy engineering,  but to keep people interested the guy touched on football / stadium rules to show how complex things are

It's ok neila he's probably still suffering the after effects of the defeat last Thursday and someone has to take the brunt.

Depends how thick someone's skin is I suppose . You dish it out , you take it back , it's all good fun . It's why Scottish derbies are so special . We can poke fun at each other and have a drink together in the bar afterwards .

That's good to know...all friends on here.

So the reigning Champions from the 2023 season are set to take on the Champions from 9 seasons ago, the last time they won a team trophy, and it looks like they are bottling it already playing the "track is too wet card"

There really is no answer to some of the lunatic comments on here.

That's a perfect description of Oxford v Birmingham, after heavier than forecast rain the match went ahead and the first (of many) passes wasn't until heat 6, a match well received by almost everybody who attended.

But you still pretty much lose six out of fifteen heats of racing.....that's my point...( Value for money, regardless of whether or not it was well received)

The meeting should have been called off following the initial downpour,at least then the worky supporters could have been on their way instead of waiting seventy minutes for the inevitable. On a further point,is the food ever going to go back to the standards it used to be.The steak pie which used to be awesome when it was the old catering facilities,is now tantamount to being horrible.£7.00 for dried steak pie, dried chips and peas?lesson learnt from yesterday. Also, what happens with the 50/50 draw? Why couldn't that have gone ahead and what happens with the money? Is it rolled over?also, the choice of music over the tannoy, was more akin to a damn nightclub banging in your head four and hour and a half.prob worse experience I've ever had at scunny.

Apologies for ranting on but also, even if the meeting goes ahead, correct me if I'm wrong but don't we pay our money to be entertained for 15 heats, not watching follow my leader for five heats until the track dries out and then hope for ten heats of racing?

    Good post.

I did feel for Rob and the team because it was such an unfortunate time to pour with rain on the season opener.  He was indeed very proactive with track work and gave it his best shot. If that track had been at a more prestige event then it is my view the meeting would have taken place. You sum up well were things need to be improved from the point of view of the paying public. I feel that the crowd have the expectation of a call off decision in the circumstances experienced nowadays so either the referee has to be stronger in getting the meeting going or the decision not to race taken quicker. It was a hard call but  with everyone already there I think the riders should have given it a go, the track would have only improved.

Soon as I put the stream on at 525 it was evident it wasn't going ahead. Track was soaked, rideable? Maybe. Raceable? Definitely not.

Don't think you should be pointing fingers at cook or batch. It should of been called off long before it was.

Correct, and why could this meeting not gone ahead at either 1 or 3 pm,,would have been done and dusted by then.i know hindsight is a good thing but just saying.Or call the meeting off after the initial downpour.

  9. Regardless of whether or not sheff are one of the favourites they were away from home and to come back like they did deserves praise, two meetings into the season and they get dissed at every opportunity.speedways a tough sport as it is,tigers will start to show the form they are capable of make no mistake..i personally don't think there are any so called "weak teams" at all this season and think it's going to be a lot closer than people think, which I hope it is as it makes it much more exciting.

Wouldn’t we all when we are in a similar position

Well.....for a track in the middle of a field with a clubhouse it generated a great atmosphere, the track was usually great with some fabulous racing and the amenities were pretty good also.i sure miss the pairs meeting prior to the g.p a hell of a lot, have some great memories of those.sadly missed.
