At least Brian Rix would feel right at home helping to run BSPL style speedway.
-
Because they might be better supported than the BSPL mafia teams and that is not allowed.

Brafield is actually a long way from the middle of nowhere!

National Development League Riders’ Championship @ Workington 24/09/23 2:00PM

So the rules are ignored by Mr Godfrey to the benefit of Poole and Scunthorpe and the detriment of Workington and the NDL. Interesting that neither Poole or Scunthorpe have NDL teams and the memory of how the NDL were treated when IOW were forced out of BSPL sanctioned racing and went under the NORA banner. This is starting to look like a situation where the NDL could be dropped which means IOW could be joined by a number of other clubs. If that happens it will the exact opposite to what BSPL would want which just shows how good they are at guiding the sport in the right direction and also proves why the sport is in such a mess. So how does NORA league with IOW, Kent, Plymouth, Mildenhall and Workington sound for a starting point? -

So the next question that needs an answer is who owns the company and what connection do they have with Brandon Estates, Gaming International and Stadia UK.

Ipswich v Sheffield play off final 1st leg

At Arena during the 80s and 90s the car racing was every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from late March to early November with around 120 Bangers at every meeting plus Stock Cars and Hot Rods. For many years I was at every meeting for both the bikes and the cars. The crowds used to be slightly larger for the cars most of the time but around eight big meetings would get a crowd for the cars over three times the normal size. It all went downhill after Chick Woodroffe died. -

How do you make a small fortune from speedway? Start with a massive fortune! Also applies to owning a football club and a steam locomotive. -
I would expect the £1 million includes all Eurosport production costs and the value of all adverts for the speedway programmes. It could well be that the teams share £100,000 and the rest of the £1m are the cost of production.

Oxford and Glasgow can toss a coin for who goes up. Loser is the one who has to join the Premiership. -
I am looking forward to pictures of Ronnie Moore and Peter Craven.

Belle Vue vs Ipswich play off semi 1st leg

It depends on which day of the week it is and who is asking! -
BSPL appear to be sweeping this under the carpet along with many other things that encourage and help young riders, like doing their best to ruin the NDL which resulted in IOW leaving and racing under NORA.

You should have a drugs test because whatever you are on is a lot stronger than anything any of the riders who have failed tests may have had in their systems. -
I hope the local fire service is very close as I can foresee a series of unexplained fires in the future!

They had covers down and once they were lifted they needed time to do some track work. First four heats now completed. -
under 19 FINAL --Birmingham June 28th -sponsorship opportunities
Chris116 replied to Speedway fan's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
So a showcase meeting was rightly abandoned in June due to rain and no date for a rerun has been announced! If a meeting is important enough to call a "British Championship" then it should be important enough to make a genuine effort to actually run the event. BSPL keep telling us how they want to support the younger riders and then fail them big time. -
There have been a number of comments about racing on tarmac. When Wimbledon stadium was in its last months Spedeworth, the stock car promotion, had a number of speedway riders have a last ride around the track during a stock car meeting. Gordon Kennett showed everyone just how to slide around the bends on a tarmac track and looked as if he was on a slick track. The video is on YouTube https://youtu.be/72e5JMM3abI

Doubling up is a curse of British Speedway but the riders need to race for two teams because of the very limited number of fixtures each team races. The only way to solve the problem is to form one big league with teams running a home meeting every week meaning the rider races in the same number of meetings as at present but they are all for the same team. If we have to run with five man teams it will mean the riders get more races in each meeting which is a good thing from the riders point of view as they can make more from each meeting they race.

I hate to say this but postponing a meeting brings back memories of Rye House. I hope things turn out differently for the sake of the regulars at Kings Lynn.

Finale of UK Speedway ?
Chris116 replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It would be very good news if could start racing again at Rye House for me as I was a regular there before closure. The two tracks I visited after Rye closing were Poole and IOW. Sadly in both cases it is no longer possible to get back to the Wimbledon area after their meetings due to changes in the train (and ferry in the case of IOW) timetables after Covid.
