Isle of Wight v Leicester 29th August

No mention on the website yet! Was it announced last night?

Isle of Wight v Leicester 29th August

Well done Warriors, now to repeat that away from home and there could be more action at Smallbrook this season!
  3. Going round a roundabout would tax him!

Isle of Wight v Leicester 29th August

I regret that I cannot get to Smallbrook today so have to keep my fingers crossed that Warriors qualify for the Play-offs and make a third visit possible for me.

    Ipswich vs Poole 29/08/19

It is not getting past the tapes that is a problem for Sarjeant. It is going under them rather than over them that is his problem.

    REDCAR 2019

Looking at the Plymouth website you would think that they have closed down! The latest league table is from May and the latest news item is from the start of August. The news about the two new team members is on the BSPA website but no mention on the Plymouth website. Maybe changing the name of the team to something about an Essex Banger Team from Devils which everyone in Speedway had got to know proved too much for the webmaster.

    Odsal

Tony was a very good driver in a number of formulae and a very nice person who I was very happy to call a friend. There are still three of the Roots family in the Superstox , Chris, Nick and Dan. They are all star grade drivers with Nick currently holding the European, National and English Championship titles as well as being top of the points at the end of July.

Trouble with The Stow at that time was that it was Bangers with everything and very rare to see the Superstox which were always my favourite formula. Far too many Bangers and Hot Rods meetings for my liking.

    Belle Vue v King's Lynn 26/08/19

But one point can be the difference between Champions and first loser!
  10. Can he ask for a recount?

    TV new deal?

That would class as funny, if it were not so sad.

    Belle Vue v King's Lynn 26/08/19

Stars may be bad but they were the highest scoring away team today!
  13. Updates seemed to blame Josh for the crash but has now gone down!

    Leicester 2019

Most of the stadiums that also have Stock Car racing already have the loops under the track for the transponders with each formula having strick rules where the transponder must be mounted. As an example F2 Stock Car results from Mildenhall last night are on the Speedhive siteso you can see exactly who passed who and when in each race. Each driver has their own transponder and is responsible for ensuring it is working. I am sure Speedway riders could easily do exactly the same.
  15. Why do you think that having a second GP in Great Britain would have such a bad effect on the crowd at Cardiff? It would not be the British Final it would still be the British GP. Having a second GP would have an effect on the crowd but I don't think it would be by as much as you suggest.
  16. Absolutely correct. I have just checked the rules on the SCB website and I had got myself confused as one of the match officials said he could be replaced by a reserve OR a tactical substitute and I had replaced the OR with an AND. Thank you for correcting my wrong information.
  17. At IOW the reserves were only allowed to cover one of his four rides and we had three riders only in three races. If Belle Vue had wanted they could have used a Tac Sub in one of the races but the Tac Sub was used elsewhere.

Speedway Promotion or Lack of it.

The real point is that it should be the BSPA bringing Speedway to the attention of the general public and not Speedway Star losing money by selling through WH Smith's.
  19. My second visit to Smallbrook Stadium and looking forward to seeing the Belle Vue Colts in action. Last night they were at Kent and secured one league point so will be hoping to do the same or better tonight. The Warriors will be hoping to be back to full strength with both Georgie Wood an Danno Verge retuning to the action. As well as the National League clash the Wizards are in MSDL action against Birmingham Bulls making an evening of 21 competitive races. I set out from Clapham Junction on the 07:22 train and will spend the day on the IOW Steam Railway before heading for the stadium for what should be a good meeting. EDIT Since writing the above news has come through that Birmingham are unable to field a team for the MSDL fixture.

IOW Warriors v Belle Vue Colts 20/8/19

An unattached 2 pointer could have been drafted into the team but there were none already on the island and by the time it was known that Phillips would not make the meeting it was too late for any mainland rider to get to the track.

    Favourite Rider of All Time

Ronnie Moore for me. Peter Craven for my late mother.

    King's Lynn v Belle Vue 22/8/19

In the USA the fixture would be listed "Belle Vue at King's Lynn" . They don't understand the "v" we use. I have an American wife so know all about how they can't use English correctly!

IOW Warriors v Belle Vue Colts 20/8/19

Sadly the Wizards fixture in the MSDL against Birmingham Bulls has had to be postponed due to injuries and non availability in the Bulls team. As stated above Georgie Wood has been replaced in the Warriors side by Danyon Hume due to injury.

Probably a license to lose money!

IOW Warriors v Belle Vue Colts 20/8/19

I suspect that Georgie will be OK if he is 85% fit at National League level tonight but needs to be at 110% fitness in the Championship especially away from home. As I write this I can see the stadium lighting pillons from the train at Smallbrook Junction Station. I just wish there was a footpath from the station to the stadium as it would make life so much easier and save the promotion the cost of the taxis they supply for those coming from the mainland.
