Also like a football manager and player has to speak to the media after a match I think ( unless you have 2 on the trot ) a rider who wins a race should be made to take a victory lap so the fans can show their appreciation

I don’t know what goes on in the pits but I couldn’t understand why they gave James Wright a tac sub ride in heat 11 therefore depriving Max Clegg of his R/R ride when they easily could of put Wright out in heat 14 as a T/S … Wouldn’t of made any difference unless Max refused a R/R !!!

No home meeting next Sunday…
The hoppings ( big fair , (to those who don’t know) and burger van sales suddenly spring to mind ( only joking I think ) -

Caused a few chuckles in the Redcar pits last night

3 minutes ago, kevin bass said:The sadly ain't enough riders who want to ride over here and the ones that do will ride where they want to ride and no doubt chase the best money available, in an ideal world the top riders would be spread evenly cross the clubs and each club have 2 big hitter/heat leaders but that's never going to happen so you get the situation like we have now, Poole a Leicester have 3 big hitters and teams like Newcastle and Birmingham can't even get one let alone a couple.
Don’t know how the guest payment works but if say the Kyle Howarth’s, Ricky Wells, Richie and Stevie Worralls and Lewis Kerr’s etc are willing to guest for Newcastle and are expected to score double figures everytime is it not the same as giving big money to 1 rider who you would expect to score double figures everytime ?

I agree, it might just make the difference to the opposition hitting 59 or getting into the 60’s on there home track

I can see the headline in the chronicle now ( that’s if they still print about speedway)
Diamonds sign son of 3 x British Champion

To compare it to the other issues we have seen this year is ridiculous.
You aren’t going to attend because it’s on a different date?
And 5 days is more than 4,3,2 and 1 day ….. What would others of said about Redcar speedway if they had said nothing, had riders travel from all over the country and let everyone in on Sunday and then called the meeting off 10 minutes before the start due to a lack of volunteers ( yes people who give up time with their own families to help out and don’t get paid) I can imagine this thread would of been red hot with stinging criticism come 5:30 on Sunday night

However, in a broader context..
It does render the competitions somewhat "Mickey Mouse", which must be extremely hard to sell to a wider fan base, sponsors, and media...
Since Rory retired, and Scott seems to have reduced his activity to focus on his media career (within which he is doing a great job for me), it has left only Bomber from the regular go to "Three Guestketeers" of the past few seasons..
Meaning that out of the three, only "Harramis" is left...
Steve Worrall used to be another member of the guest merry go round

2 hours ago, Dinosaur said:Quite apart from the poor team there’s one glaring issue that never gets mentioned and that’s the time it takes Newcastle speedway to run a meeting. Starting at 4pm and finishing at 6:30pm just isn’t acceptable. There were no major incidents just small delay after small delay mainly due to a lack of organisation. Why not water the track for example while the medical officer was with Wethers ! Instead we had a delay for both ! No skirting on the air fence, green light not working, tapes getting broken by the photographer. All silly little things that are down to a lack of professionalism. During the delays the entertainment is dire. Roy’s drivel bores anyone to death and he interviews a random bloke off a radio station, a fan who happened to be on the center green plus a basketball player! If you’re gonna have endless delays while people feed their faces on expensive burgers at least let’s hear from the riders or team managers. Overall it’s just a poor night out now !
Some people just like to moan. If it was over in an hour someone would say what was the point in stepping out the house. Jeff King has done brilliantly to push speedway on Nova radio and deserved some recognision. Young lad was 21 yesterday and is autistic, he'll remember that for the rest of his life and Lewi the Basketball player had his photo taken by his partner and it'll be on social media so we may get a few of the many fans who go and watch the Eagles come to see what HE likes. He paid in and said it was brilliant and he would tell all his mates ..With thoughts like yours , no wonder the dinosaur is extinct..

Next home meeting could be the benchmark for crowd figures ( unless we have a major new signing) as yes Leicester are a good side but they won’t bring as many fans as Redcar, Berwick, Glasgow, Edinburgh etc.. Richie Worrall been here umpteen times as has Kyle Howarth + the meeting is being streamed by BSN so cheaper to stay in the house
We will see

Don’t know why they didn’t call it off after the heavy shower as most people around me ( and myself) said it was going to be abandoned. Unless it was to give the juniors a chance after waiting patiently I and others couldn’t understand why they wanted to run heat 15 as Redcar had the 3 points and it was only Edinburgh who should lose out if they conceded a 4-2 or a 5-1.. How would Redcar fans of felt if Lewis Kerr or Erik Riss been injured in the re run?

I was at the meeting and they played that song as a birthday request for a Redcar fan who had just became a Grandad

Got to admit thinking about the state of the track wasn’t my biggest issue on the night … I was more concerned if the referee ever found the Clerk of the Course and what was the final cost of his phone bill

In Glasgows match report their promotor says he is going for x-rays on his hand and if it’s broken he could be out 6-8 weeks

Would love to see the reaction at Premier League headquarters when Manchester City and Sky request that the kick off needs to be put back to 7:45 as a few Newcastle Diamonds fans need to go and watch their team at 4:00
