Aye you would hope but ave been to some real drawn out double ups but saying that after our previous brief foray into Championship & NDL fixtures against Edinburgh that was rattled through quite quickly to be fair... obviously depends on any injuries and the referee...

Don’t know about you but even though I know it has to be done the worst part of a double header is the standing around waiting for the track to be regraded after the first meeting…. That seems to go on for ages and I have seen fans leave because of it

  2. Due to being at work I have not heard any radio or seen any T.V News today( so could of been announced)  but are they going to be notified to make announcements regarding the plea put out for fans to turn up on Sunday .. One of the reasons put forward for fans not turning up was because older fans didn’t use internet so they couldn’t book online and so far the only places I have seen the announcement is on FB, BSF, Twitter and Speedway GB site.. All on the internet so a lot of the older fans might still not see the trouble Newcastle are in

What you have to remember is the first hundred through the door every meeting don’t count as the season ticket money was seized. So if there are 500 through the turnstiles then there’s only 400 paying customers. Maybe he’s thinking if he keeps the cost down( which he has) he’ll attract fans from other teams( Glasgow,Edinburgh Berwick Redcar etc) as well entice old fans back. A lot of people are telling him what he should be doing when basically it’s him who’s losing money every week. Maybe this is his last through of the dice. The press release before was very ominous

Hope some fans from other clubs do turn up but for an away fan I would say Poole are a bigger attraction than Plymouth but they are at Edinburgh on Friday and Berwick on Saturday so would their fans want to see the same team again in less than 24/48 hours ?

Just read that Jason Crump is back for Plymouth tomorrow so that could be good news for Sunday

Maybe just a bit of karma, a said straight away but no-one agreed. ;)

I also said that’s what was going to happen as the referee asked the clerk of the course to ring him immediately…. Yes I agree the staying down looked “ Iffy” but even the innocuous looking falls can be the worst.. I think a warning would of been the correct punishment as even multi millionaire footballers try and cheat but they don’t get fined .. If Pijper was fined £100 he probably went home with less than what he came with !!

why do you have to book tickets by 1pm, surely you should be able to book right up to the start time? also can you stand near the pits are is that area closed for now?

I know different areas have different rules but you could also pay at the gate for the Scunthorpe v Glasgow meeting yesterday .. Also there is a circus currently being held less than 5 miles from Brough Park where I seen first hand on Saturday people queuing up and paying at the entrance!!

So were there any of the hangers on there today or they all still loyal to the in we trust regime.?

What’s with this big thing about the hangers on ?? If I was management I would be more worried and want to know why there was 600 at the first meeting and only a reported 300/350 at yesterday’s.... Meetings that attracted quite a few away fans and both meetings that the hangers on did not attend so that  made no difference

if some have gone to Redcar & Berwick to watch it ( Newcastle boycotting previous promotion fans ) but surely it is costing them more in fuel prices alone

If you had been sacked from a job you had done well( some for years and years)  and some if not all of them  doing it for nothing because of their love of Newcastle speedway, would you give £20 of your hard earned money to the person who has sacked you ?

No not one of the previous promotion turned up; even Danny Philips who would normally have his dad Martin as his mechanic brought Ged Rathbone to spanner for him instead and from the old "merry band" inner circle; Steve Brock was there still taking the photographs and Roy Clarke was in attendance standing behind me on the terracing but that was it...

    Unless anyone knows any different...

    Regards
    THJ

Ray Dean (former  turnstile operator ) was also on the terracing

What happens if the evnt is on a day you can't attend.     There is always a catch with BSI.

That’s happened for years .. How many speedway meetings have been in the fixture list that you have made plans to attend and then they have been either rained off, abandoned or moved from their original date and then been replaced with a later staging date.. Tough luck if it’s rearranged on a date you can’t attend

Have to have my twopenneth here Keith!

Had it not been for Dalbers, the Diamonds wouldn't be still running, it would have closed down years ago, thanks to his financial input.

As far as away meeting attendance goes, as you know he works at both Newcastle and Sunderland Dogs, so making it to away meetings is virtually impossible, but he was a frequent visitor to away tracks, especially between the mid-late 90's to mid 2010's, and I should know because I travelled with him most of the time.  He and I (and sometimes Dave Fraser) were the only Gems fans at the away meetings with them quite often.

I agree others also deserve a mention, but to say "he's done his bit" is, in my opinion, a massive understatement and no I'm "not just saying that, because he's a very good friend."

Not disagreeing with you Steve and yes I agree that Andrew’s cash has probably helped keep the speedway going at certain times, I just thought to single one person out for praise was in my opinion not correct as how many others  over the years have went out looking for sponsorship, worked in all weathers at the track over many  winters , held supporters functions etc.. Did that not help keep the speedway open aswell ?

I agree he has done his bit for Newcastle Speedway over the years but why single him out? In over 40 years of attending why not mention others who have done a lot ( if not more ) to keep Newcastle Speedway going ..

Yes maybe his money input has helped but he did disappear off the scene and away from the speedway for a number of years(though he was still having an input) .. How often do you see him at an away meeting ?

So yes maybe he deserves a mention but I can think of a lot more who do so also .

Funny then how football and rugby are able to run right through the winter if it's the cold and damp that matters.

Of course their playing surfaces aren't so affected by the weather but I am hearing here is several people complaining that November will be too cold which doesn't seem to affect the followers of other sports. Maybe speedway fans are more delicate? It's not as if it's proposed as a regular thing, just one way to compromise in a difficult situation.

Because in football and rugby you have 80 - 90 minutes of action to watch, in speedway you have about 15 minutes and around 90 minutes standing around doing nothing
