  1. It's really very simple and a good Team Manager would stress it. Every 3 - 3 is a step to victory. If you can't win a race don't finish last If you get a lead just ride to win the race no messing about. If you're tailed off keep going you never know what will haoown If one of the opposition is miles in front don't chase him, hold back and ride tactically to get your team mate in to a 3 3 position Use any gate advantage to your advantage e. g Ace may not get a point but if he can be a mobile chicane for a few laps he can help the team. Cliche I know but one race at a time
  2. My hunch as others have alluded to. PL possibly rebranded Elite. Aim to gave a GP level rider t number 1 and a couple of strong domestic level heat leaders at 2 and 3. A couple of 5 to 6 point second strings and a reserve and rising star CL One heat leader from PL from 2nd or 3rd HL slot Second string and reserve PL allowed in heat leader CL roles. Second string in CL must be no higher than PL reserve or rising star Reserves in CL to be NDL current second strings or reserves This would involve a thorough list of all riders listed by category for HL SS RS respectively for both leagues. PL standard higher CL standard a mid point between CL and upper NDL Lower NDL level to ride in 6 heat junior teams for any PL or CL clubs who wanted as second half No B Teams in 2 leagues. Aim to get Workington, Mildenhall possibly Kent financially able to compete in CL by fixed pay rates no guarantees.

    New Club for 2024?

You might have got that reaction 25 years ago but not now. With a dwindling supporter fan base and tracks in Redcar, Scunthorpe, Sheffield and Manchester is there enough slack in a cost of living crisis to entice the 2000 per meeting it would take to cover investment and make it pay from the fan base that supports those existing tracks.

    New Club for 2024?

There used to be a dirt Banger Oval near Worcester at Grimley but very basic. Hednesford from memory is part surrounded by high banks that the armco is attached to. There is an old abandoned dog track Norton Canes not far away. Of course there is an empty very modern unused Rugby ground at Sixways M5 J6 that could be used with a drop in track.Doesn't look like Worcester will reform anytime soon and Wasps refused permission to use. No housing near and there is a well established MX track opposite on the Southbound side so logically no noise issues. Would be accessible to huge catchment area especially if running CL on a weekend. Got a lower league soccer team in there but few hundred go.

    New Club for 2024?

Aldershot, not a million miles away from Slough used to have a Speedway Track I believe but still has a Stock Car Track (different venue) I believe and is effectively home of the Spedeworth Organisation. Spedeworth run Stocks/Bangers at Ipswich, Mildenhall, Yarmouth, and Braefield plus also run at Hednesford and are tenants at Eastbourne. Yarmouth and Braefield (now known as Northampton) would not be new tracks but you could argue Northampton would be new name (it has also been shaled) Hednesford is not suitable for Speedway as tarmac, not sure if Aldershot is tarmac or shale. Spedeworth will have close working links with Louis family at Ipswich and active at other speedway venues so may be that's an avenue BSPL have fostered. Northampton / Aldershot could be deemed "new" loosely in modern era.

    New Club for 2024?

Spot on. Braefield and Odsal already have shale tracks laid down Neither new. The Welsh venue us existing would need a track laying. Weston as far as I know is currently a field. Is there a disused or little used Footy, Banger or Athletics venue anywhere with infrastructure you could slot a track into.

    New Club for 2024?

Phil Morris suggested there would be a new team for 2024 at a completely new venue. Thats why previous comments have pointed out that neither Osdal nor Braefield Northampton are new venues in the literal sense. Weston Super Mare would be literally a new track. To coin a currently popular phrase, you surely have to have spades in the ground by now to be ready for April 2024 if it was a new greenfield site. Probable you could slot a track in to an existing venue if it was just the track to put in.

    New Club for 2024?

Have heard very different rumours about Weston either definitely happening or dead as a do do. I guess the other aspect if it opened, is it may hasten the loss of Plymouth who attract a fair few from South of Somerset and North of Exeter. Re "Northampton" the track at Braefield has been used for speedway before so not strictly speaking a new new track. Any new team or returning team would be very welcome.

Any clues like North / South / East / West
  10. Of course the management committee can sort this all out can't they... Oh hang on. Can Mr C Louis and Mr D Bates please leave the Room whilst Mr Godfrey and Mr Ford lift the carpet up and get the broom out.
  11. Not much (if any) mention of it but credit to Jason Edwards. He's not someone I'd associate with being suited to a track like Sheffiled but since coming in to the Rising Star slot has scored some crucial points and some nexpected points for Sheffield and his heat 2 win last night was crucial in terms of momentum. It seems by far the most level headed and gracious of the younger riders and deserves a medal.
  12. Best check the Tide times
  13. In terms of entertainment, the integrity of the sport and fair play I'd be far more worried about 6 days of sunny dry weather in Poole. A slick motorway dust bowl for gating tarts certainly isn't goint to help Bomber, Basso, Tereshenko, Brennan or Complin

    Dream Team

Brennan mom lived with Martin Dugard as partners for many years before she sadly passed due to cancer I don't believe they ever married so strictly speaking not step son. He mentored Tom though and some I know think Tom has suffered since he moved away from the Dugards to base himself in the Midlands.

    Brummies

Does anyone have any news or ideas about who is actually going to be running Leicester next season Bates are selling. Assume Helmsley won't want to take it back. Would any with Peterborough connections be interested, what about CVS and Adams, Tolley, Matt Ford,Terry Russell? It's gone quiet or has it?

    Brummies

He's allegedly if you put together all of his articles and comments on Speedway Star spent in the region of 200k. No stadium or land to show for it, no trophies, lost money almost every meeting he's staged and totally in the lap of landlords in terms of future. Not his fault sums up the sport. If he goes PL even with TV money probably need another 100k. Thought the gate, sponsorship or investment. He said he needed 1000 to break even in CL what would PL be.. 1500? Thats 1000 more than most weeks now.

    Brummies

You have to live in the West Midlands I guess to appreciate just how long, tedious and often impossible it would be for the majority of Wolves fans to get to Perry Barr on a mOnday night after work for 7.30pm. I'd guess that the majority of the Wolves support would come from parts of the Black Country that would require a tortuous drive down The Black Country Route or the old Birmingham New Road to get to the Great Barr Area and meaning that the slightest issue on the M5/M6 interchange there would create enough traffic chaos to put them completely off. I'd argu that if Brummies do want to pull in Wolves fans the best option would be on a weekend (which doesn't seem to tie in with PB being available). Its one thing for an Away fan to have a day or afternoon off and try to get to PB, completely different to face that torture week after week. I'd assess Wolves average is 2.5 - 3x that of Brummies so can't see how Brummies can be financually viable in the PL as a few have pointed out.

    Brummies

Monday night is logical If it suits the Dogs people on a few other counts. It was traditionally a Home night at the old PB before Wolves took it. It would possibly attract Wolves fans on a night they are used to going to Speedway and some Cradley fans too. Edited to reflect news re PL
  19. At 10am they definitely said something about Wimborne Road (hence my ears pricked) Literally just they have mentioned Parkstone Road and a Roundabout and said its blocking major routes in and around Poole (obv I don't have local knowledge). It didn't clarify what had caused it either just said major incident.
  20. According to Radio 2 Travel Wimborne Road specifically in Poole is closed due to a serious Police incident. Hopefully it's sorted by tonight for all involved

Clubs that own their own tracks

Fairly common knowledge around both Villa and Blues. Villa were awaiting planning approval and some funding to extend 2 Stands for when UK bids for World Cup Soccer. We're now worried on 2 counts (1) Ciry Council now under Government Commissioners (2) Blues new Owners plans would make that new Stadium the prime West Midlands site. The news also from Piotr about the RL Club moving from Athletics Training Track to main Alexander and Athletics second track possibly being used for Speedway also ties in with 2 things (1) The New City of Birmingham Stadium would have an Athletics Training Track (as I mentioned) and (2) it ties in with a comment from Phil Morris that "a completely new venue for Speedway could be opening" - although 2024 seems optimistic.

    New Club for 2024?

Hope they find somewhere but in over 25 years hard to think of anywhere that's not already been spotted and turned down Unless Councils keener to asset strip and sell than they were.

Thats the one I was referring to. Didn't realise it was so close to Newport and presumably within an hour of Cardiff

    New Club for 2024?

Wasn't there plans for Weston Super-Mare? - although seems that got ditched in the winter and again discussed last week? Some noise re Cradley but can't think of many current venues not explored in Dudley / Sandwell Boroughs...a few athletics stadia but all surrounded by houses Some noise from Brummies re Alexander Stadium site Some active afforts in Eastbourne Area with Arlington apparently no longer available Braefield as mentioned has been shaled and would cover Coventry / Peterborough corridor albeit not exactly accessible Dog Track has opened in South Wales (only one in Wales now but seems a bit remote and not sure about crowd pulling potential) Could he mean a possible SGP venue somewhere in a current Footy stadium? - a few have staged Super X type Events??...
  25. Sad to read news that Peter has passed away. Highly respected around the West Midlands Tracks over many years. A pioneer and long time Co Ordinator of the 3td Tier NDL which grew and produced many fine Riders under his period in Office. A lovely gentleman to talk to as well. Thoughts with his family and friends.
