    Moto Gp, 2 And 3

That turned out to be a very special day. Just wish I could have been at the party. A real shame that Foggia turned villain for the day when he took the new moto3 world champion Acosta out on the final lap in another crackling moto3 race. In moto2 it seemed like Gardner was playing with fire sitting in the pack where he could easily have been involved in somebody's problems, but he got the title in the end although I think Fernandez is a slightly better rider, and it'll be interesting to see how they both get on in motogp next season. And finally a good race win from Bagnia who is beginning already to look like a champion for next season. It ended the season well to finish without a runaway race winner and full marks to Miller who nearly got there in the end and Martin who looks good for the future . And to cap it all, what a day for Rossi ! Finished tenth only 13 seconds behind the winner at the age of forty two. I first saw him at Brno in 96 (if my memory serves me well) and it was obvious from the start that the gangly kid was different and very talented. Little did anybody realise quite what he would do for the sport over the next twenty six years. One big thing he brought to motogp was the fact that he had humour in his bones and he could make people and other riders smile and also learn how to endear themselves to the masses. The end of the race gathering of all the riders on their bikes to pay tribute really showed the human side of the sport and respect. His protege Bagnia certainly seems to have the talent, but could he fill Rossi's boots for twenty six years. Let's hope that the sport continues to grow. Thanks Vale for making Sundays so good, think you made a few shed a year yesterday. And a well deserved special award at the FIM season awards ceremony last night.

    Moto Gp, 2 And 3

Well it's the final weekend of the season, Rossi made me laugh when he echoed my thoughts that it would be nice if the rest of the field let him take a podium in his last ever GP he even added that he'll pay for the party afterwards ! It'll be a sad day on Sunday and I hope they give him the farewell that he deserves . Touch wood the rain doesn't reappear for tomorrow. Congratulations to Pedro Acosta on clinching the moto 3 world championship last weekend. It was the usual cracking harum scarum race, and Binder robbed us of a deciding race this weekend by wiping out Foggia. For a rookie it's a great feat for seventeen year old Acosta, it'll be interesting to see what he can do in moto2 next year. And barring disasters it looks like Gardner will take the moto2 title tomorrow. The surprise of the year for me is that young Lecuona is leaving motogp for WSB next season, after having improved considerably over the second half of the season. Hope it's good weather and a good crowd for a special day.

    CHRIS HARRISON RIP

Very sad news, I knew Chris during his time at Coventry in the mid/late sixties, a steady rider and more importantly a very nice guy. RIP Chris, and my thoughts are with your family and friends.
  4. Think I'd rather listen to the Polish commentary.

    Dean Vinales RIP

Sad news to read that Dean Vinales died at Jerez in the WSB super sport 300 series race yesterday. I've managed to catch a couple of these races this year and they've been very hectic and entertaining. Any serious injury or death is tragic in racing but at fifteen it's going to hit the family and his friends so hard. RIP Dean, thoughts are with the Vinales family .
  6. Think your being a bit hard on the beeb, they carried a longish report of the premiership final on the motor sport section of the BBC sports website last week. The media have increasingly and sadly ignored the support while we are in the doldrums. Can we magic a nomination for team of the year ?t Sad to hear that no senior officials of our sport in the UK were in attendance at Belle Vue yesterday. That's one of the reasons why we don't get much media coverage.
  7. I was surprised that BBC Sport site carried a report of the premiership final in the motor sport section, so hopefully the World Champions should get a big mention tomorrow on the Beeb somewhere.
  8. I found it very enjoyable last night. If you missed the gate you still had a good chance of making up ground. Difficult to prepare a track for two consecutive days of racing at this time of year with moisture in the ground and rain around. Hard slick tracks still provide good racing as we see in Poland regularly. Gutted forTai and the Swedes and yes, I do believe that Doyle caused both incidents, especially the first one as you see him look behind twice at the approaching Swedes on his outside and he cleverly drifted out to leave no racing room. As someone said earlier he is replacing Freddie and Pedersen as the rider you don't want to be on the outside of. Apart from those incidents, thoroughly enjoyed the close racing and full marks to Tom Brennan and Hellestom-Bangs , they were both superb especially the latter having to take on the whole world of speedway by himself, he should get a medal for his efforts.
  9. Tom Brennan comes of age, well done lad

    RIP Colin Pratt

Very saddened and shocked, thoughts are with the family RIP Colin
  11. It's a real shame as we used to get Crescent Girl's(sic) emails every week, even though we sometimes moaned about them (good naturedly of course) they were very informative. They must still have the data base that they used, so why not use it again to keep everyone up to date
  12. Full marks to Lublin, it's very rare that you see the team that comes second smiling and enjoying themselves at the presentation. Superb TV presentation in all the meetings today , it makes our TV companies speedway presentation look quite amateurish, although BT aren't too bad with the GPs, would much rather have Polish commentators though on BT and Eurosport
  13. Birkenose is the danger man in this one IMO, hope I'm wrong

    R.I.P BobC

RIP Bob, very saddened and shocked at the news. A big loss to the forum. Thoughts are with Bob's family and friends.

    Harry Bastable

Very sad news indeed, remember well from the fifties and sixties how Harry always got stuck in, just the sort of opponent you didn't need riding against your team. Rest well Harry you kept us on our toes. Thoughts are with Harrys family and friends.

    Redcar v Berwick

You weren't far wrong there, shame that Leon dropped it on the last bend. Maybe you should stay sober more often

    Moto Gp, 2 And 3

Big surprise with Pol taking the number one spot in qualifying, and Vale comes up with a solid eighth place to surprise those who believe he shouldn't still be riding. Just hope he can maintain that sort of pace in the race. I hope Dixon is learning from the experience and can move himself a bit further up the field. Are we going to have an unexpected winner today, and in moto3 will Acosta have another smash and grab raid from twenty first on the grid. Not long to wait now !
  18. You should complain to President Putin, he'll get it sorted for you !
  19. And Leon scored 8 last night for Wolves at Kings Lynn including two heat wins. He really is developing and progressing impressively on all types of tracks.
  20. You're lucky it wasn't Bronco loo roll

    Brandon Update

Superb work by SCS, this whole profiteering planning charade from Brandon Estates quite frankly makes me effing angry. The stadium was my second home from the age of eleven right to my mid twenties when I eventually moved back to Northumberland for work. Fifteen years gone if BE win and destroy my step on the back straight. Loads of pocket money and wages went into that stadium. The whole stadium is still in a prime position to be a real motor sport centre again . Would be good to see a few more glory years for the Bees. We can only hope. Good luck guys and thank you for your hard work. It really is appreciated.
  22. Most of the discussion will be about mother nature and how climate change is affecting speedway. The usual Saturday chatter. I think it must be Col's fault.
  23. Adam has made valuable steady progress over the last two or three years and whilst the GPs would be a baptism of fire, all GP riders have to start somewhere. Maybe next year might be a year too soon , but I believe he has the talent to expand his already considerable European experience and develop further. Obviously sponsorship and making the correct calls mechanically are vital.
