I am surprised at the comments..I was there and I thought it a great meeting with more passing than I’ve seen for a long time ..there was as much passing as in the Premiership play off for me and I was there as well for that…..people must have incredibly high expectations of speedway these days because I’ve been going since the 70’s and that was as good a world level meeting I have seen

Just back in from the meeting so not seen the TV yet…from what I saw Jason Doyle was incredibly lacking speed all day and actually caused the Swedes and Woffinden to crash but obviously couldn’t be excluded but if he had had the pace then the crashes wouldn’t have happened…but when I re watch on TV I will see better not sure why Lambert was excluded as that was a bit out of the blue …my first live look at Zmarzlik and what a talent..he was going half speed at times to watch his team mate…worth the admission alone for any meeting…

Just seen the IPL cricket final and the winners Chennai Super Kings were constantly referred to as Dads Army by the commentators….what a coincidence but somehow I don’t think they had just watched Peterborough win the day before. !

I’ve always liked Pearson and Tatum but I think they are commentating in Peterborough jackets tonight Bewley is some talent and Brennan has done himself proud….too many passengers for Belle Vue and a fit Kurtz badly missed…Peterborough have built a really good solid team though so well deserved champions really.

Game over with that Steve Worrall loss..big one that..his bike looks so slow tonight

I’m glad others noticed how far from the tapes Pedersen was to give himself a roller..no way can you move that much and still be a mile from touching the tapes…the start marshal is a cheat

Poor choice of rider replacement from Mark Lemon there…at this stage it had to be a Worrall…

Strange meeting..brilliant racing..weirdly I think Andersen crashing out actually strengthened Peterborough as the other riders were probably going better than him or he has been going at number 3….Aces should have really kicked on from 8 ahead but fair play to Peterborough …Palin has now had 2 excellent meetings at Belle Vue and Nicholls got about 10 more than I expected which was the big difference ..I am also not sure about the order Aces rode their riders in the rider replacement rides as I might have re jigged that a bit …but whatever, as a spectacle it was a great advert for speedway.

Best out there by a mile but usually tied up elsewhere I think on TV nights

Would that matter in this case if he’s the best option ? ….I cannot think of another nation which isn’t represented who has a rider worthy of a GP spot so all countries covered so another Pole wouldn’t really be an issue for me as it really makes no difference to another Brit, Dane, Swede, Aussie if those countries already have riders…..you may be right though.

Have they definitely said Discovery Plus is the broadcast channel ?…..I know they have signed the deal with Eurosport Events which has rebranded Discovery Sports Events but have they said that puts it exclusively on Discovery plus

I think people are right when it comes down to crowds and atmosphere... Racing wise matches up well in a lot of meetings but it was the atmosphere back in the day that really helped.. Turned a dull meeting into a pretty exciting one..... My favourite race was Rob Maxfield being team rode to a 5-1 by Peter Collins over Ole Olsen who was by far the best visitor around Belle Vue at the time.. there was no passing and probably if you saw it on tape it would look ordinary but at the time the roof nearly came off the stadium and the atmosphere was incredible.

Sheffield have been badly let down by Batchelor…Holder and Ellis have done their jobs and so have Howarth and Pickering but you cannot win when the rider you signed as number 1 scores like Batchelor has and you have no real reserve strength.

I quite agree..I’ve watched speedway for nearly 50 years and I think people must think that all matches were always filled with overtaking and breathtaking finishes..well they weren’t and often quite dull racing wise ..I was lucky to grow up watching racing every week at Hyde Road so was lucky to see Colins and Morton every week but I also saw quite a few processional meetings there as well and that track was as good as it gets….speedway can be breathtaking and can also be dull, always has been…this meeting wasn’t bad at all.

That got a lot better..

Not great so far but Vojens is not a great track for me.

and one thing about the Eurosport coverage..in one way it’s good they have invested in multi cameras but I do wish they wouldn’t keep cutting away to a different camera during the race as they miss some good action ..sometimes I wish they just used the one camera and just watched the whole race from that camera as you can get a much better view of the race

I couldn’t go tonight but just watched it back on TV..crowd did look a bit sparse and certainly a lot fewer than the meetings I have been to…some good racing though and the slicker track creates more racing lines rather than one fast line….the big difference tonight is that Sheffield didn’t have a Hans Andersen or Ryan Douglas at reserve and when your reserves aren’t scoring then you are on the back foot ..I still think reserve strength will win the league in the play offs

Do people really think Ivan Mauger had the same engine parts as everybody else on the market….it’s been going on for years …

Bewley and Kurtz excellent for Belle Vue apart from the dreaded gate 3 ride….You couldn’t really ask more from Charles Wright and Brennan tried hard but you cannot have 2 of the top 5 perform like Worrall and Etheridge when you haven’t got a race winning reserve and expect to win matches

The picture looks very dark…Belle Vue’s lack of a really strong reserve is really hampering them ..a reserve wins matches and always has done

It’s that long ago that I can’t remember but this is 3 riders with one of them being under 21 but does the under 21 rider have to take any rides at all. ?
