Osbourne has not broken the law, the planning conditions mean diddly squat when you are experienced in getting round them of which Osbourne is, hence that’s why he has carried on with Swindon regardless completely ignoring and planning conditions, councillors say one thing and do another, I have seen this twice in the last 2 months where a councillor has said one thing in a meeting and in the presss and then done exactly the opposite behind the everyone’s back, Swindon’s problem is the council not Osbourne, they have the power, do they use that power ?

I will just mention "The Crooked House" much more on our patch Deanno, the Council have this week used there powers and ordered it to be rebuilt, I suspect the owners will be very reluctant to do that so it will be interesting to see where that goes, but yes Swindon Council do have the power to order GI to do various thing's what they don't have is the power to order GI to allow Speedway at the Stadium, which is what most of us want to see, and the same goes for Brandon Stadium.

Would of helped if he had been at number 6 ..They had the points to play with ..They should have signed the top 2 first ...

I suspect he will indeed be at No6 after the first set of averages, i suspect Birmingham prefer Cook to be at reserve to begin the season.

I suppose the stadium is "operational "because there is greyhound racing ,so it must be "substantialy" complete to do this, why there's no speedway is certainly bewildering

I suspect crafty Osborne is using the "unviable" pre text to get around the continuation of Speedway at Blunsdon, let's be honest it only takes a few brown envelopes to silence some people ahem! does the cap fit anyone we know ?.

  4. The new Swindon Greenhouse was temporarily blown of situ over the weekend, the new Greenhouse which is made of Canvas, Scaffold Poles and Metal Storage Containers was supposed to be used as pits for the none existent Speedway at Blunsdon Stadium, this shows what a joke Osborne & Co actually are..

Lets hope any other version, doesn't yield them any profit, after all the costs incurred so far.

This is the issue, so long as any other successful planning application yields BE significant profits I doubt they will want to sell the site, as a matter of curiosity has anyone been able to find out who are the people behind Brandon Estates ?.

  6. Guaranteed to be winners of the Wooden Spoon with the present 7 riders, the BSPL have even inflated the averages of 2 riders Milik and Lampart to make Birmingham look stronger than what they actually are, this team is simply not good enough and anyone that thinks it is needs to think again. It's admirable that the few Brummie supporters that come on here say that they at least have a team to watch, may I say Speedway is a Sport and as such it's competitive every rider want's to win, most supporters want to watch a winning Team, This team will not bring new fans through the gates, not many Wolves or Cradley fans will come over to watch a Team struggle to win a home meeting, and dare I say this team will also impact on other Teams when Birmingham are the visitors.

I fear for Birmingham Speedway because this Team needs leaders, Heat leaders and I can only see one of them, if they can get through the season that will be an achievement in itself.

A riders worth should be based solely on how much money is coming into a club. Doesn't really matter how much any rider wants to spend on equipment / mechanics / vans etc. Clubs should only pay out what comes in.

But Speedway has been living way above it's means for a good many years now, how do you compete with such as Glasgow , is it not a case of how much is a Promoter prepared to subsidise a Team?, some of the figures I see being mentioned being paid to riders are mouth watering when one looks at average attendances. I see that 1000 is mentioned as being a good attendance figure x that by say £20 gives an income of £20k per meeting out of that there is track rental, medical cover, riders pay for home and away meetings, insurances, refs fees, BSPL licence fees, track maintenance, if teams only paid out of what comes in then may i suggest some riders would be paying the clubs to ride..

They were the last 2 mentioned to me. But as of today. Nothing as been signed. Which is a massive worry really as a rider will need to sign soon to organise things

Mr Tolley keeps telling us they are in NO rush, I can only say if they don't sign 2 x out and out heat leaders, he would be better off keeping his money in his pocket..

3 days if you don't include posts by people bemoaning the fact that they can't pat each other on the back on here anymore.

It's otherwise known as the back slappers ball, but at least it has given you something else to comment on other than the One Stop Parking situ, now where is that darned emoji when i need it ? rofl.

Who is doing all this linking of riders ?

A lot of know buggeralls giving their ideas as to what they think should be happening. I'm sure if you all write it often enough,  somebody will believe you.

With buggerall actually happening in the Speedway close season, speculating about who may sign or who won't sign creates a bit of interest, as to what we think should be happening most people have ideas some more worthwhile than others, here is my tenpenny worth, Nigel Tolley is still being advised by LR with regards signing riders, Nigel has himself got limited experience with regards getting riders in, Nigel has appointed a new Team manager who has little or no experience in managing a Speedway team, he has appointed an assistant team manager with probably less experience than the team manager, we have supporters that have for the most part never managed a Speedway Team, but we usually do know a half decent Speedway rider when we see one.

Nigel badly needs experience in the management team I mean someone other than LR, and from what I can see the same mistakes with regards team building are being repeated again and again.

You would need huge, deep pockets to run speedway at Bradford...

Might have been better if NT had run Championship Speedway at Bradford than Premiership at Perry Barr.

I think this is a real concern for Birmingham and it’s very clear the team has been together with signings confirmed and announced before a full line up is complete - meaning it’s very likely they will come in well under the points limit.

The final signings simply need to be Artem Laguta and Piotr Pawlicki if they are to stand any chance of being competitive and winning home matches. Laguta will be just fine at home after a match or two and there is every chance Pawlicki could bring his usual Swedish form with him. Anybody else and they are likely to be getting beat all over the place and the already dwindling crowds will already be dropping off by the time we head into May.

    100% agree.

So,  B'ham promotion are supposedly speaking to  6/8 available (whatever criteria that means?) riders in order to finalise the last 2 (GP standard (not my words) riders)

Please, please, please don't leave this decision in the hands of previous team selectors!

Hopefully, the promotion have been taking note of forum posters and should by now, know, what's needed, for a reasonable chance of progress!

NT said it was Laurence, Chris with himself busy making sure that they pick the best 2 from 6 possible riders, does that give you any confidence that they will get it right ?.

  14. 5 hours ago, GiveusaB said:

Yes, I agree, no problem at all with these signings, I'm just merely pointing out that (I think...) other teams second string riders are 'stronger'... (which makes the last 2 signings 'vital'...)

Flint should be able to hold his own at reserve....Brennan/Cook will be exciting to see progress....Worrall is steady .....and cant really say much about Lampart ?

    Laguta/Lingdren would be perfect!!

L&L would be expensive, but Birmingham is the 2nd city in the UK, surely there must be a couple of Sponsors in the Birmingham area that would sponsor at least one of them ?, There are major employers within the city that should be approached with Sponsorship in mind, if NT is putting in what he says he is then signing L&L and moving heaven and earth to find Sponsors is the way to go, sitting back and dilly dallying over which rider to sign is not helpful when trying to attract Sponsors.

  15. If Laguta is available NT simply has to sign him, okay he may cost a few bob but without a Top class No1 it will cost Nigel a lot more than what he may think, being without a true No1 will impact on his gates a lot more than paying what Artem will cost, Laguta riding for the Brummies against Sayfutdinov, Doyle, Bewley, Holder and the like should certainly create interest and bring people through the gates.

Nigel says he is in no rush to complete the Team well in my opinion he ought to be, this will then give them time to get other things sorted out such as sponsorship deals and having a former World/GP Champion on board will be a good starting point, being the second city team may well have some drawbacks with potential supporters having other plenty of choices for there leisure pound, but it also gives the Brummies more opportunity to get some big name sponsors on board that wish to be associated with World Champions, his landlord and his businesses would be someone as an example that they could possibly target, another area could be house builders who are generally awash with cash etc etc.

Incidentally I noticed in Nigel's new year message that while he mentioned Laurence, Chris (assistant manager) and himself being involved in deciding the No1 and No5 he did NOT mention Sam Ermolenko (Team manager) which I thought was rather strange, my advice for what it's worth (probably nowt) is to pull your respective fingers out get the team signed up then you can concentrate on getting potential sponsors on board, Good luck in 2024.

I have it from the horse's mouth (different horse) that the new signings will be announced "In the fullness of time". Make of that what you will. The other horse also commented that "People seem to think that you can just pick up a phone and sign riders. It isn't that simple".

Whilst I agree it is not simple as picking up a phone  and signing riders it seems to be an issue that Birmingham have had in recent seasons (I seem to recall a horse saying riders are phoning up wanting to ride for Brum then the same horse said something along the lines of if Bartosz became available money wouldn't be an issue)  maybe it's the other horse (for whatever reason) that has a problem persuading top class riders to sign for Birmingham, after all Oxford who joined the Premiership at the same time as the Brummies did not seem to have a problem signing riders and announced there Team weeks ago.

  17. It seems to have gone quiet with regards signings that have been made but not yet announced and rumoured signings, I cannot for the life of me see what advantage the holding back of announcements has, it certainly won't help them sell more season tickets in fact it probably has the opposite effect. I will assume therefore that they have NOT actually signed the top two riders that they badly need, they have 17.59 points available for these two riders and if they don.t use most of that up then it won't matter how many season tickets they sell. I see many comments about Birmingham having the strongest bottom four in the PL, well I'm sorry but that won't get them off the bottom of the League and won't put bums on seats.

Laguta simply has to be persuaded to sign as No1 along with another decent rider at No5 that would mean they should be strong at Home and more competitive away from home, yes I have read the comments about Laguta picking and choosing his meetings but basically beggars cannot be choosers and Brum need someone of Laguta's ability.
