The referee was waiting for Lambert to obey marshal's instructions, and did not put green light on.  Riders don't have to spin motors until marshal walks away and referee put's on green light.   It may be Simon has sustained a fine, or a report, for causing the problem.

Never before in 40 years of watching speedway had I seen a start like that. Lambert had been warned that he was not coming to the tapes by the referee and the start marshall. The time was up and the green light was on. Four times Lambert rolled back and was pulled back by the start marshall. Yes FOUR TIMES! Kemp was hesitantly edging forward meanwhile Jack Smiths clutch was burning away. The smell and black s smoke billowing from the engine. The referee eventually let the tapes go and Lambert went on to win the race. The red lights should have come on and Lambert excluded for delaying the start. The referee did nothing to back up the starting marshall. Smith lost his temper with him but it was the referee who should have got his wrath. Mr Dishington showed that he was incapable of controlling a speedway match. He should be struck off the referees list. The whole spectacle was embarrassing! For the sport and especially the standard of refereeing!

  2. Well done the Berwick Promotion . I said You must sign Stevie Boxall. You delivered. Not only that we now  have a world class rider  in place of Thomas. Credit where it's due especially after  the criticism I gave to Jamie and Scott Courtney last week.

  4. The track staff at Glasgow are the best in the country.  They knew what their track needed despite pressure from riders, officials and spectators. It needed time to dry out and then graded. It was perfect come five pm. You have days like this in Scotland with the weather. To those that left you missed a good meeting. Speedways  biggest enemy is the weather. Hats off to the riders who in nearly all cases were patient and got on with it. The referee deserves credit for he was calm during the whole proceedings. Everyone I have mentioned deserves credit where it due. Well done!

  5. The last heat tonight was one of the best races I have seen all season. Twice Bomber gave Cookie a hard time in the first two heats. Chased hard in heat one . Made a start in heat 13 but Cookie got through the first two bends inside.  Heat 15 chased Cookie hard for 3 and half laps and never gave up. Dived into bend 3 moved Cookie over and won the race. Had a strategy and it worked Chris Harris is an unbelievable speedway rider and when the day comes when he retires speedway will be poorer for it. A absolute legend!

Although I think the fans consortium is a good idea, and I'm sorry to pour cold water on it, the crowdfunding effort was supported by approximately 130 people, many of whom are not Diamonds fans/supporters so the chances of getting enough Diamonds fans to come onboard is very remote. Shame, but that's the reality.

Fantastic news. Just about to go to bed and saw this unbelievable news. Really made up. Need now to get a supporters group like the Edinburgh Trust.
