  1. Interesting to read the comments re the track. Attended as a neutral. Thoroughly enjoyed the meeting. I have definitely seen better racing at Peterborough but still thought it was very watchable. A number of the races without passing were still very close. In addition, for there to be no dust on such a hot day was something that the track staff should be proud of. A few digs at Buster Chapman on here but I have also been to Kings Lynn this season and the racing was excellent.
  2. Are advance tickets required or is it now possible to pay on the gate? It’s not clear on Panthers website unless I have missed something.

    2020 NL Season

A solution to the problem might be a return to the format used in 1996(?) when the 3rd division was decided on a percentage basis. Teams could run as many meetings as they wished subject to a minimum number. That would allow the likes of IoW and Plymouth to run every week and the likes of Belle Vue to stage a lower number of meetings if they prefer. Far from ideal but it’s imperative to keep the third tier running. British Speedway will die if there is no third division.
  4. Is it the pedestrian entrance that is affected?
  5. £2 off a future meeting is an insult. We paid to see 15 races but even based upon the fact that we saw 8 races out of the 10 required for a result, we should be getting £3.60 back. On Good Friday the non league football fixture list was hit by bad weather including matches at Maidenhead and Dulwich being abandoned. In both cases, the restaging of the fixtures sees FREE admission to ALL supporters, not just those who attended the original date. And Speedway promoters wonder why the crowds are dwindling each season.
  6. Both tracks were very easy to find using the directions - thanks again.
  7. I am hopefully visiting Vastervik & Filbyterna next week but can't find any directions to the tracks on their websites. Is anyone able to help with directions? Many Thanks
  8. Thankyou Ghostwalker and Anders for your help. Its much appreciated.

    New Zealand 2009

Thanks very much to everyone who answered for their help re this.
  10. A friend of mine is planning a visit to New Zealand in January/February 2009. Can anyone help with any info re Speedway being held anywhere in NZ during this period? Thanks.
  11. Totally agree. Was absolutely livid myself when this happened. If Sky only deem it necessary to show 21 heats, why not the last 21 heats? And we have to pay money for this. If it was football, would they not bother showing a penalty shoot out?

Poland And Back In A Day

It obviously will depend on flight times. A lot of the ryanair flights back to stansted are fairly late on a Sunday which gives you half a chance. From personal experience last year, the Polish tracks don't tend to confirm start times until about 2 weeks before a match so you'll have to wait until the TV companies have had their say! The day after the Leszno World Cup final last year, we were thinking about Bydgozscz but that was moved to a late start for tv so we went to Gniezno instead on the basis that any delays in the Bydgozscz match could prove costly. We easily made the flight from Bydgozscz but when we got to the airport, Andreas Jonsson was there so maybe we were being too cautious!

    Visiting Rospiggarna

    Thanks Liverstam for your help.
  14. Can any of our Swedish friends help with information re Rospiggarna? Their website suggests that a bus runs from Uppsala to the track. Does anyone know if its necessary to book a place on the bus in advance? If so, any idea how I can do this? Thanks.

    Visiting Rospiggarna

Thanks Ghostwalker. Have emailed them about a a week ago but no reply yet.
  16. Be careful if you do go by taxi. Went there in 2003 (I think) for the GP qualifying semi final. Great meeting, good viewing from grandstand. Got taxi from Udine, no problem. After the meeting was a different story altogether. We tried calling the number we had been given by the driver who took us to the track - just went throught to an answerphone. We then asked at the Speedway office who kindly tried to call us a cab but no answer from any of the cab companies. In the end, we got chatting to a British fella, turned out to be Graham Reeve who was GB u21 boss at the time who when hearing of our predicament offered to give us a lift into Udine. Lift gratefully accepted and saved me from what was probably a 6 mile walk which would not gave gone down well with my girlfriend!!

    Final Gp, From Germany

Is there a scorecard for Saturday online yet?
  19. No one has mentioned Laguta yet - what an oustanding wildcard performance, really added something to the meeting.

    Austrian Speedway(wiener Neustadt)

Went there for the world u21 final 2 years ago, worth staying in Vienna and getting train to Wiener Neustadt, about half hour or so by train as I recall and a regular service. Track is about 20 mins walk from station. Very nice stadium, good viewing. Just very wet when I was there!!
  21. Monday night @ Coventry may (fingers crossed) also result in a comfortable win for the home side. However, if the track is properly prepared and GB riders display their legendary inability to make a start then it could still be a very entertaining spectacle. Obviously a close scoreline does help to retain interest in a meeting but if the racing is good enough then the score is largely irrelevant. Sadly, Vojens had neither a close score or any racing.
  22. Why can't you use the Sky commentary which is so more effective as it is live. Are their legal reasons?
  23. I see no reason why the new Promotion should run more than once a week and on any night other than a Monday. With some careful juggling of the existing fixture list, the teams out of play-off contention could visit Smallmead after the cut off date for the play-offs. This, of course, will be largely dependent upon the co-operation of the other EL tracks so I won't hold my breath.

Thankyou Ghostwalker and Tarabanka. Looks like an expensive cab ride!!

Thankyou, Mikael. Do you know how far the tracks are from the town centres?
