We all know that speedway riders whilst riding on all kind of tracks are exposed to danger. To minimise it some years ago air filled fences were introduced to protect them. It seems that not everywhere. When you look here: https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/t1.0-9/p180x540/10417659_4234433356754_2752396118744457455_n.jpg one wonders who gave permission to stage a speedway meeting on such a venue. My sincere condolences to Grzegorz's family (wife and small daughter) R.I.P.
  2. ...and Andy "Whoosh" Huszcza, both used to ride for Hackney Hawks. Those were the days...
  3. Nice to see in the comentator,s box two ex-hawks, Super Zenon and andy "whoosh" Huszcza
  4. Gapinski instead of Linus sundstroem
  5. I don't know how old you are, but it seems that you've never seen Zenon Plech in action at the Wick, or elsewhere.
  6. The soap opera called „Speedway Grand Prix in Russia” is likely to have a new episode. Speedway venue in Togliati has been ready to organize the GP tournament, for years, but the BSI was not. It looks as though they have finally arrived at their senses. Talks about the SGP event in Russia have been going on for years. Russian promotors want to organize speedway with the best riders in the world. Russian fans want to see them in action on their home soil. How great is the demand for this type of event, was in evidence during last year SEC event in Togliati. Head of speedway in Togliatti, a longtime vice president of the local speedway club Mega-Lada, Alexei Stepanov is a man who over the years was engaged in talks with BSI. They (the BSI) were very categorical. They agreed to see us because we asked them to do so. Unfortunately, they did not accept our proposals. The situation mentioned by Stepanov took place in July 2011, during the SWC final in Gorzow .The talks lasted for some time afterwards and finally were broken. They said that if we wanted the Grand Prix in Russia, we had to put at their disposal two planes, pay unimaginable amounts of money and things like that- said the Russian promoter. After last year SEC event organized by us in Togliatti the attitude towards us from the BSI people has noticeably changed - he added. After the European Championship tournament they have probably realized that no planes are needed, that after all we can be reached by road. The most famous speedway riders came to compete on our track and I did not hear any complaints- said the Russian. The broken talks are to be resumed in late May, at the Grand Prix in Prague. We have received an invitation from the BSI to continue our talks about the organization of one of their tournaments. On the 31st of May we're flying to Prague. How it will end? I'm not really able to predict - said Alexei Stepanov. source: sportowefakty.pl

    Togliati Sgp Talks

I just can't believe what I'm reading. "A DECENT wage in Poland would be 600/900 zlotys." Mr. Rising you've chosen wrong people to talk to. People who know a little bit more than Polish speedway mechanic would tell you that THE MINIMUM wage in Poland stands at 1'600 PLN. It's not much, I know, but nowhere near 600/900 zl. I read elsewhere that there is a certain "propaganda" beamed from Polish sources allegedly close to OneSport. What would you call your posts? Was the Eurosport TV truck in Togliati hijacked and stripped bare? or is it another piece of propaganda? Mr. Rising, I am not interested in "floating stories". From the person of your status I would expect confirmed facts.
  8. Well said New Science ! The thing is that BSI overestimated Polish fans cash-flow. Tickets for over 100 PLN are not for ordinary Polish fan.
  9. I would argue that the SGP is no longer the crowd puller it once was. BTW where did you hear about Bydgoszcz basketball team as a crowd puller Sayfutdinov's is disappointed you say? First time I hear that. Daria on Polish TV asked him straight whether he is disppointed, or not. And he answered that he is not. So your story is just not true.
  10. Easter Monday ExtraLiga fixture at Torun has been completely sold out. Over 15 thousand fans will be supporting the local Angels against Wroclaw. The entry tickets were sold in a few minutes. The price - 1.00 PLN roughly £0.20 each (!) If you wonder why so cheap? the answer is - part of the Torun's punishment for walking out of the last year play off final return match at Zielona Gora
  11. Can you back it up by giving us the source of this 'revelation'...or is it just old woman gossip.
  12. Whatever it mean...it does NOT matter... because WE knew about it without Castagna translation. In a nutshell... it's nothing new !
  13. Zmarzlik should get a red card. His leg antics reminded me Tomasz Gollob, his tutor and idol when Tomasz rode for Gorzow
  14. LOVE Hougaard's leg trailing What's wrong with Bomber ?

  21. Polish speedway media are saying that Zielona Gora, Polish EkstraLiga Champions will be flying to the UK for a three-day practice session combined with two friendly test matches. The practice session and two friendlies are to be held at the King's Lynn track . The idea for co-promoting such an event was born at Zielona Gora a year ago and it’s mainly due to their involvement that these two friendlies will be staged this year. - We know what conditions were prevailing last March in Poland. We looked then enviously at the perfectly prepared English track and already have made first steps to stage such an event - said the Zielona Gora chairman, Marek Jankowski. The event at King’s Lynn will be known as the Pre-season International Speedway Cup,. The first day is scheduled just for practice rides. Weather in March in England is more or less assured and each rider will have the opportunity to ride on a well prepared track. To make sure that it is, Zielona Gora are taking with them their own trackmaster, because the point of this trip is that their riders will practice on a track comparable to that they will have in their own EkstraLiga - said Jankowski. On Saturday, March 19th, there will be a four team test match in which teams from King's Lynn, Zielona Gora, Berlin and the team composed of invited riders. Polish promoters are to invite world champion, Tai Woffinden to lead the team of invited riders. Each team will consist of four riders plus one reserve. The next day, there will be a final between the two best teams. English SKY TV and Polish POLSAT TV are to cover this event Details are most likely to be announced next Tuesday.
  22. I certainly do ... but I would not compare Stadion Slaski with the brand new National Stadium in Warsaw. It would be like comparing old Bradford and Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
  23. According to the news circulating today in Poland, Warsaw National Stadium, will be the venue for the April 2015 round of SGP. PZM and BSI talks have been finalised and what is only needed is the signatures at the bottom of the agreement document. The news met with disapproval of Polish fans, who believes that the PZM and its chairman, Mr Andrzej Witkowski, is acting like the ousted president Janukovych of Ukraine, totally living in unreal world, and out of touch with Polish speedway followers. There are even voices calling for the organized boycott of the Warsaw round.
  24. Russian Motocycle Federation: http://mfr.ru/news/vnimanie-rukovoditelyam-spidveynykh-klubov/ has just introduced the rules , which says that every Russian speedway rider who obtained home Federation consent to race outside the country, has a duty to represent the country under the threat of immediate loss of license to compete in foreign leagues ! Financing riders in the world cup, their fees for an international license , insurance outside Russia , is from now on the responsibility of the riders home clubs. The fifth point of the said rules obliges all riders with permission to race outside of Russia, to represent the country in the World and European championships . In case of refusal , the riders will be immediately deprived of permission to ride for foreign clubs and will not receive such a permit for the following year. So it comes out that the Russian speedway authorities suddenly introduced slavery . In orders that the presidents of the clubs and the riders did not have much time to think, the rules are entered with the date of March 15 , as the final date to apply for permission to race abroad. This applies to all Russians riders , even those who have previously been issued with such approval . source: sportowefakty.pl
