    King's Lynn V Stoke Nl (16/5)

Hope you're soon feeling much better Dale. I'm still struggling with my cracked ribs, but am feeling much better in myself now that most of the internal bruising has gone. Thanks very much for the MDL line-ups they are much appreciated. I have to smile though, because I could almost pick the visiting side myself, as Adam Sheppard (not Shepherd) often pops up, although not so much this year and Sam Woods has ridden for every club against us so far this year, with the exception of Buxton!! I expected Lee Geary to be in there too. As you say, Martin's charges aren't here tonight, but two of them have represented his side in the KO Cup, against...........US. I'm not trying to pick holes here mate, but to do the rider justice, his name is Layne Cupitt. Now then, is Scooter Webster his real name? If he'd been Lambretta Webster, that would have sounded quite feasible, but come on, lets get real over this Seriously though, lets home for a good one tonight in front of a sizeable crowd, and hey here's a thought, if Rory Schlein is going to grow his beard for a charity, I wonder if a certain gentleman (note MV, I called you a gentleman) would let you cut his ponytail off for the same worthwhile cause????? Well he lives a little bit in land from Great Yarmouth itself, but I know what you mean. What's the local weather forecast for your area tomorrow, as I intend coming up to the British Youth Championship if it's favourable (another junior meeting that doesn't seem to have been given much publicity). I might be wrong as I've only briefly flicked through the pages, but apart from the fixtures section, I don't recollect seeing it mentioned in the Speedway Star this week, although I'd stand to be corrected on that one. Still never mind if it hasn't, there's loads of foreign and grasstrack news, which is more important!!!!!!

    King's Lynn V Stoke Nl (16/5)

Yes, news does seem to be slow these days filtering through about NL meetings, but on this occasion it might be because Dale has been a bit under the weather. There may of course be some information on Facebook, but the like of you and I forget to look on there!!!! As you suggested it might be, it's a nice sunny and warm morning here in West Norfolk, and is forecast to remain like that for most of the day, although there might be a short shower at some stage (probably between 7.30-10.00pm ). Gates open at the usual time of 6.30pm, and not 6.00pm as shown on the clubs official press release, and the line-ups are as follows: - KING'S LYNN: 1) Max Clegg 2) Darren Mallett 3) James Cockle 4) Marc Owen 5) Kyle Hughes 6) Josh Bailey 7) Scott Campos STOKE: 1) Ben Wilson 2) Chris Widman 3) Ben Hopwood 4) R/R 5) Jon Armstrong 6) Rob Shuttleworth 7) James McBain There is also a Midland Development League fixture in the 2nd half, but your guess is as good as mine as to who will actually be riding for the the two teams. Publicity for that is no where to be found, which is sad really. We should be giving these meetings maximum publicity, but very few clubs seem to. As for the main event, it looks to be a cracker, with every rider looking to be more or less the equivilant of his opposing number, and has all the makings of being one of the best National League meetings the Norfolk Arena will see this season (I shall say that for the next meeting of course ). I'm not sure off hand whether Ben Wilson is still the Bronze Helmet holder or not, but if he is, then there's the prospect that that could be the property of a King's Lynn rider by bedtime too. Tonight will be the fourth time the clubs have met each other on league business over the years at the Norfolk Arena, with the 'Potters' having won two out of the previous three clashes, so the home side will be anxious to level the spoils. With large amounts of normal King's Lynn fans staying at home on Wednesday because the Elite League side were on TV, it's to be hoped that they will come along tonight to receive their weekly fix of LIVE speedway. It's gonna be good, miss it at your peril.
  3. Could you let me have the heat details at some point please mate, as I need to know how many firsts, seconds, thirds and last places each rider had. I realise it was late when you got home, and you just wanted to get to bed. Thanks Mike
  4. Like you Martin, I had no idea that STR had a Facebook page, and it didn't even cross my mind to look on there, nor will I. I also agree that using Facebook is a retrograde step, and once again like you, I find it difficult to interpret. As for Twitter, well we won't even go with that one!! I'm like Bryn, I haven't got an all-singing, all dancing mobile phone, because quite honestly I wouldn't know how to use one, nor would I have the time to spend playing around with it all the time even if I did. I'm afraid Facebook has/is taking over peoples lives. You've only got to walk around town and observe how many people are glued to their mobile phone, rather than watching where they are walking, its become an absolute obsession. Last Christmas we had a lot of people round to dinner, and ALL the younger generation, plus a couple of older, actually sat at the dinner table playing with the damn things whilst eating their meal. When a question was asked of them all you got back was "Sorry I didn't hear what was said". It was so ridiculous, that two of them were texting each other sitting almost opposite each other, so they've obviously lost the art of conversation. One rider said to me last year, along with a promoter, that they now only use Facebook as they got fed up with being slagged off on a forum. That to me is total nonsense, because it's just as easy to slag someone off on Facebook as it is on a Forum, and is a lot easier for the world and his friend to read about too. I understand messages can be sent privately on Facebook, but once again, I don't know how to do that, although in this instance I think you do, as I think you contacted me once to enquire how my wife was progressing. I'm stuck with the old-fashioned e-mails I'm afraid (at least I've advanced from Snail Mail), but even with that system, I'm beginning to find it more and more difficult to get people to respond to me, and I can only assume it's because their noses have been super-glued to the all-singing, all-dancing mobile phones. Anyway, enough moaning from me. It's time to put speedway to bed for the day, as I've got a bowls report to write for a local village club followed by some work for the Tommy Steele Fan Club (yep, I'm involved with that). All the Best Mike
  5. Is it still planned for this meeting to go ahead, or has the heavy rain in the past 24-hours deemed it impossible? Thank You.
  6. Search as I might, I just can't locate the riders points and more importantly heat details from this meeting. I understand that Coventry won 24-12, but that's the only information I can find, can anybody help PLEASE????
  7. Well that was certainly a full in depth reply!!! As I was under pressure to take her who should be obeyed to the shops if the speedway was off, I didn't have time to go searching round places like Facebook, which I don't get on with anyway very well. Why should I anyway, when the facility is on the the BSF and always has been. It's now 12.30pm and I guess it's time for us both to take our midday pills. See you sometime. Mike
  8. Any news please anybody, as it's tipping it down here, and I don't want a wasted journey? Okay, I've just found out that the meeting has been cancelled. What on earth has happened with the BSF? It used to be full of information about amateur meetings, but these days gives minimal coverage.
  9. I hope both sides enjoy an entertaining and safe meeting this evening. As you know Malcolm, it was a meeting I was very much looking forward to travelling up to, in the hope of seeing a 'Young Stars' win, but unfortunately for me, I've broken some ribs, and am in to much pain to drive. No, I hadn't been on the amber nectar, I just fell in the garden......huh, who said speedway was dangerous!!!! Regards Mike
  10. Hi jimbobswales, could you possibly clear up a query for me please? The NJL website says that the Berwick 'B' v Northside (19/4) resulted in a 17-13 win for the home side, with Heat 5 being a declared result due to an accident. However, referee Willie Dishington has forwarded the result through as Berwick 'B' 14 Northside 10 to the SCB, with the scored being declared at the conclusion of Heat 4. Do you have any idea why there should be a difference in the two understandings of what happened, and importantly which version of events is the correct one. Thank you in anticipation for your time and help. Best Wishes Mike Me again jimbobswales. With regards to the Workington v Berwick meeting on the 3rd May, referee Dave Dowling says the result was Workington 14 Berwick 'B' 20. The report in the Speedway Star this week shows the result as being Workington 15 Berwick 'B' 20. The difference in opinion centres around George Rothery (Workington), because the Speedway Star says the rider scored 2+2 from 3-rides, but the referee claims his total was 1+1 from 3-rides. According to the programme, George retired in Heat 2, finished third behind his team mate in Heat 4 before suffering another retirement in Heat 6. If, and I only say if, the referee is correct on both this particular query, and the one mentioned in my previous post, then I'd make the Group 2 table looking like this: - TEAM M W D L F A PTS +/- Berwick B 2 2 0 0 34 24 4 10 Workington 2 1 0 1 32 37 2 -5 Northside 2 0 0 2 27 32 0 - 5 Speedway Star has published. Berwick B 2 2 0 0 37 28 4 9 Workington 2 1 0 1 33 37 2 -4 Northside 2 0 0 2 30 35 0 - 5 Please don't think I'm trying to pick holes with anyone because I'm not. But there are clearly two versions of what actually happened, and I'm interested to know for my own records which is correct, as will Peter Oakes for next years Speedway Yearbook of course. Thanks once again for your anticipated help and understanding. All the Best Mike
  11. As NOBODY seems the slightest bit interested in posting their clubs results on the BSF, I do wonder if maybe I'm wasting my time researching all round the web trying to put these results together. In case anyone is interested, here's a result that I came across from three days ago. Please Please Please clubs that are participating in the Northern Junior League, get your acts together and start providing something for those who care to read how your youngsters are progressing. Last year the results service was very poor, this year, it's dire. Simply disgraceful in fact. STOCKTON 17 1. Dale Lamb - DID NOT RIDE 2. Ben Basford (2-3-3) = 8 3. Kyle Bickley (3-3-3) = 9 4. 15. Jim. In the report that 'Main Man' has posted, it clearly says David Holt scored 6+1 from 4-rides, which was my query, as I wanted clarification that he'd actually only had three rides. So yes that would suggest that our old pal has differing maths qualifications to you and I. However, I suspect he just reported what he was given by whomever that might have been, without checking it. So the original source of information is the one lacking in maths qualifications........I trust it wasn't you All the Best Mike

    Kings Lynn V Buxton. 07/05

Not only do we have the National League meeting to enjoy, but there is a Midland Development League in the 2nd half too. Good to see you posting on the BSF again, your contributions have been missed, as not everybody looks at Facebook. All the best for tonight, and for goodness sake man, put a coat on, you'll catch a death of cold
  17. Although the points scorers have been published for this meeting on the BSPA website, I'm eager to find out the heat details from the meeting. I've made requests on Facebook, but quite honestly find that particular media outlet and complete and utter waste of time, other than for very basic reporting or idle chit chat. PLEASE can anybody help me?
  18. There's a minor reporting error concerning that match yesterday (i.e. the details on the BSPA website don't quite tally), so I've asked Laurence if he can get an answer on that one for me. As for Stoke v Rye House on Saturday night, I just don't seem to be able to find any heat details at all for that. The referee's result sheet hasn't been put onto the SCB website for that nights NL & MDL meeting either, so I'm at a loss to know why I often have this problem with Stoke (MDL) results, and of course I'm referring to last season in that regard. Hopefully things will improve this year, but thus far not so.

  20. Favour please Laurence. It says that David Holt scored 6+1 from 4-rides. Do you think you could enquire as to which heat he finished last in please, as the heat details shown, only show him as having taken three rides. Thanks Mike

    Mdl Sat 3rd May

Do you have any heat details from those meetings please Laurence, as I can't build up the stats from what you've been given?
  25. Hi Malcolm, Well done on getting a good result last night, and pleased to hear that folk were happy with the standard of racing. You mentioned that there would be two matches, and I've found by research that the second was an MDL match against Rye House. Can you, or anybody that was in attendance, please post the result/scorers and heat details please? The results never seem to appear on the clubs website, and it's always so difficult to follow the 'Spitfires' progress. Thanks, and looking forward to my visit next Saturday.
