  1. Sorry if my posting implied that I was blaming Rye House for Glasgow's poor showing, because that wasn't my intention, but it takes two teams to make a good meeting, and sadly only one turned up. I agree the meeting did move on at a better pace than the first couple of heats, but I get so p****d off when referees allow riders to return to the pits after a false start etc., then wait a few minutes before putiing them on a fresh 2-minutes. Henning Bager was a villan for that on Saturday, and it just slows proceedings down so much. Also couldn't really see why the track needed regrading after heat 10, in the announced 5-minutes interval that went on for over 10-minutes. because there was no dirt on there to regrade. A fair number of Rye House fans in the Long Bar Stand got up and left at that point, ranting that enough was enought, but I did sit it out. Glad to see the Rockets finished the job off in Scotland yesterday, and wish them luck in the next round against Sheffield. Anyway, can you provide poor old Bryn with the 2nd Half Results? Have a good evening.
  2. I can only assume I'd had a drink or five prior to saying I was looking forward to this meeting, and why did it take 30-minutes to get through the first two races? Things could only get better I thought, but I must still have been under the influence, as this was total c**p at its highest level. I hope Bryn managed to obtain the results from the 2nd half, because 999 times out of a 1000, I'd have provided them to him. But like almost everybody else, I couldn't get away quick enough at the conclusion of Heat 15 (at least I did stay that long, many had left much earlier), and to be honest, the best only decent race, was the stampeed to see who could reach the exit gates the quickest. I'd be surprised if anybody had remained for the juniors, sad as that is, because they do deserve our support, but you can only be left hanging around for so long......well it seemed a life time, even if it wasn't. With a fuel and entrance cost in excess of £80, this has pushed my speedway loyalty to the limit this time.
  3. Who is this Chris you're all speaking so highly of?
  4. That's something I've been trying to establish too Buxton Tiger, but drawn a blank. Either people don't know, or don't care. I really do hope the organiser(s) give this competition the publicity that it deserves, and that results are published on this forum. The Midland Development League do a grand job keeping their public informed, so lets hope the same happens here, but so far it's not looking at all promising.
  5. Does anybody have the heat details and race times for this meeting please, which I understand Belle Vue won 15-21? Thank You.
  6. Looking at the BSPA website, this meeting is OFF
  7. Okay kevcfc thanks for that. Surely if these junior leagues are to be taken seriously, which they should be, then somebody within the organisation of the tournament should be posting results after each meeting. The Midland Development League is very professional in the way it is run and reported, which is something the real hardcore speedway fan loves to see. Not only that, it must give the young riders some pride and feeling of importance, seeing their names and results in print for all to see. So fingers crossed that the NJL takes a leaf out of the MDL book.
  8. Thanks for those details Boz. Did the 1st leg take place at Workington on the 6th April as originally advertised, and if so, do you or any other readers have the results please?
  9. That's good news as it was a nasty looking prang.
  10. Meeting abandoned due to a heat 4 pile-up involving three riders. Further details are unknown by myself other than to say that at least one of the riders was taken to hospital KING'S LYNN 12 1. Andy Mountain (3-2*) = 5+1 2. Connor Mountain (2*) = 2+1 3. Lewis Rose (F-3) = 3 4. Josh Bailey (2) = 2 MILTON KEYNES 6 1. Adam Portwood ® = 0 2. Arron Mogridge (1-1) = 2 3. Sam Woods (1-F) = 1 4. Danno Verge (3) = 3 1. A.Mountain, C.Mountain, Mogridge (F.Rm), Portwood (Ret) 65.67 5-1, 5-1 2. Verge, Bailey, Woods (F.Rm), Rose (Fell) 68.12 2-4, 7-5 3. Rose, A.Mountain, Mogridge (F.Rm), Woods (Fell) 65.69 5-1, 12-6 4. Mountain (Fell), Verge (Fell), Woods (FD) - MEETING ABANDONED.
  11. Agree with most of what you said Rocket. The track wasn't great, and as you said Len had apologised for that, but all things considered, this wasn't a bad meeting, and I say that as a 100% neutral. Like you, I thought both disqualifications were bad calls, in fact I wouldn't have even blamed Tungate in Heat 12. However, as the rules don't allow it to be classed as a racing incident without penalty, then somebody has to foot the blame. Quite how the referee managed to aportion the blame on any one rider more than the other, is hard to understand. With regards to Adam Ellis, I'll agree that today he only looked NL class, but having seen him ride a few times now, I'm pretty sure he'll easily be PL sooner rather tham later. With the track being what it was to day, it wasn't a good time to judge him. But anything and everything is totally irrelevant at this moment in time, our thoughts must be with the three stricken riders.
  12. I suppose we should be used to it by now, lets hope we don't have another summer like last year, and of course lose this particular meeting for the second time in as many years. The line-up that's been put together should produce a superb evening of racing for the punters, and as often as I look at the riders on show, I just come up with a probable winner, how about you?
  13. Yes you're quite correct Bagpuss, and Lewis Kerr has taken his place. Lewis Rose will now replace Kerr at reserve.
  14. A very good line-up has been put together in memory of our much missed Ash, and if this doesn't appeal to local fans, then I'll be amazed. 1. Kozza Smith, 2. Kevin Doolan 3. Ricky Ashworth 4. David Bellego 5. Adam Roynon 6. Hohan Tungate 7. Cameron Heeps 8. Ashley Birks 9. Rusty Harrison 10. Simon Stead 11. Seb Alden 12. Olly Allen 13. Josh Auty 14. David Howe 15. Simon Lambert 16. Nicolai Klindt Reserves Lewis Kerr Jake Knight Usual start time of 7.30pm.
  15. Phil. Do you know the start time for any of the meetings yet please? Thanks Mike
  16. There's another meeting for us all to enjoy before Good Friday GRW123, as the Ashley Jones Memorial takes place on the 22nd March.
  17. Ditto Parsnips, I'm hoping to do the same!!

    Newcastle 2013

Ditto those sentiments. It's great to see some of these British riders being given their deserved chance in the Premier League. Paul Starke appeared to do a good job when called upon last season, and got himself in the shop window for everyone to judge. Sad for him that nobody has taken him up this year, but now it's time for another outstanding talent to be afforded the same chance that Paul was given in 2012. Although there aren't many guarantees in life, there's most definetly one, and that is that Lewis Kerr will give 100% effort in every ride he undertakes. He set his stall out in that way for King's Lynn 'Young Stars' last year, and its paid dividends for him, I wish the Heacham based rider all the luck in the world.

    All Time Wimbledon 1- 7

Jeez, to pick an all-time greatest Wimbledon side is almost impossible. I started supporting the Dons in 1958, so can only judge from then, but accept that there were many great riders prior to that, who would warrant a place. My 1-7 in order (I THINK!!!!!!) is. 1) Ron How 2) Ronnie Moore 3) Peter Moore 4) Barry Briggs 5) Tommy Jansson 6) Edward Jancarz 7) Gote Nordin Oh dear, Sverre Harrfeldt, Roger Johns, Trevor Hedge, Gerald Jackson, Cyril Brine, Dave Jessup, Malcolm Simmons, Bobby Ott, Brad Oxley, Rudy Muts etc., etc all warrant a place.

  21. Does anybody have the results from the amateur meeting staged at Northside last Saturday (24/11/12) please? Thank You.

    Rye House 2013

To be honest, I think this an excellent line-up, and although I have reservations about Olly Allen purely because of his injury record, which of course can't be helped, it's watered my mouth enough to make the 4-hour round trip as often as finances and decent weather permit. Mellgrem IMO will be a very solid and reliable heat-leader. So will Allen if he can keep out of trouble!! Bunyan should be good for a minimum of 8-points a meeting. Garrity is getting better all the time, and providing he keeps a level head, could and should go far in the sport. Lambert & Lykke at reserve have got to be a promoters dream in the Premier League, especially at home where towards the end of the current season, they both looked so full of points. Nelson I'll give the benefit of doubt to, but am not convinced, think I would rather have investigated the possibility of Stefan Nielsen, assuming they hadn't already done so. I've always been a bit of a Rye House 'Knocker' on this forum, but I'll put my hands up and admit that some of the meetings that I saw there towards the end of the season were far more entertaining than they've been in past few years, and certainly better than anything I can remember seeing whilst travelling around to some Elite League meetings. It's a team worthy of local support, and providing admission costs are set at an affordable level (they're a tad to high at the moment), then there's no reason why many of those missing fans of recent years shouldn't return. They will surely be in the running for honours come next Autumn.

    Help Please.

Very many thanks indeed for that.
  24. Is there anybody that was at Ipswich on the 2nd August that could provide me with the heat details for the Ipswich v King's Lynn (AJL) match please? I've tried people involved at both clubs along with the league co-ordinator and referee, and nobody has come up with the answer. I find this so hard to understand when it was an official match raced for league points, and somebody from one of those sources must have the answers, but just don't want to help. So as a last resort, I'll put out a plea to either and Ipswich or King's Lynn fan that were in attendance and filled their programme in. Thanking you in anticipation!! Mike
