Thanks to all the people involved in organising and running these very enjoyable events, and to the riders for competing in them. Thanks also to my friends in the box, namely Chris Golding, John Strong and Bryn Williams, who have been a great help to me for many reasons this year, along with Les Drury & Dick Jarvis. Hope you all have a safe winter, and look forward to being in your company again next March.....ish!
  2. I don't know what format it is taking this year. Last year the meeting was made up of three different team events, one each for Open, Intermediate & Novice Class. Meetings usually last between two and three hours and riders are generally a mixture of amateurs with some National League riders thrown in for good measure. The meeting starts at 4.00pm and admission is FREE, with just £1 to pay for a pukka programme. With rain once again looking threatening, one would hope that the referee and organisers will strive to get proceedings completed as quickly as possible. Don't know if you've ever been to an amateur meeting before, but as one race finishes, the riders are leaving the pits in readiness for the next race. Quite impressive really.
  3. The rain has FINALLY stopped, and there are early signs that the sun is going to peep through. In the space of 15-minutes the pavements are beginning to dry already, so hopefully the meeting will go ahead as planned.
  4. Bryn Did you receive the information that you requested and I e-mailed on to you? Mike
  5. Oh dear, it's absolutely pouring with rain here and has been for most of the night, do hope it clears before 4.00pm, but fear the damage may well have already been done. If amybody connected with running the meeting gets any news, would they please post it on here. Thank You.
  6. I'm also looking forward to this Bryn, and just hope that the 'STRONG' man will be splitting you and your chaffeur up whilst you're working. Seriously though, the Dragons end of season bash is always a hoot, and more than worth attending. Weather forecast is not that brilliant (40% chance of rain), but as long as that referee geezer keeps his finger on the buzzer, it'll hopefully reach its natural conclusion, then the chauffeur can have a meal at the Red Lodge on both in the inward and outward journey Look forward to seeing you all.
  7. Kevin & Laurence, You are both very welcome. Apart from a couple of results that I had trouble finding, you guys did a great job in posting the results with heat details on a regular basis on the BSPA website, which made my task so much easier. I know this and the Anglia Junior League is all about giving young riders the experience that they both want and need, and averages are unimportant. However, it's surprising how many riders do actually like to know those facts 'n figures. Hope you continue to promote this level of racing again in 2013. Best Wishes Mike

    Mildenhall 2013

Good job you added the because he needs to stay where he is thank you very much, and you know who I'm talking about
  9. A very enjoyable evening of racing despite the meeting being of little or no importance. Stoke gave a far better account of themselves than the score suggests, and I was particularly impressed with Liam Rumsey. Also good to see Mildenhall give their No 8 (Niall Strudwick) three rides, rather than try and nail Stoke further into the ground with some of their big hitters. Shame that Ben Morley suffered that awkward looking tumble in Heat 1 which resulted in him withdrawing from the meeting, and hope the injury is only of a minor nature. Ten out of Ten for the referee who kept his finger on the button all evening. Parade at 7.30pm, back in the car at 9.00pm......BRILLIANT STUFF. So well done Stoke for giving it your best shot, and well done Mildenhall on all your deserved success this year. An extremely belated thanks Phil, I'd already left before I'd picked up your message. Everything about Mildenhall was good tonight.
  10. Does anybody know what the weather is currently like in the Mildenhall area, because where I live in Norfolk, it's looking increasing more like rain, in fact it's pouring now. Like Super Blue, my journey entails over a 100-mile trip, and one has to wonder if it's worth the gamble of yet more wasted petrol money.
  11. Where abouts in the stadium is the office please, and is there public access to it prior to the meeting?
  12. Can the rain-off tickets from the original and aborted staging of this meeting, be presented and used at the turnstiles tonight please?
  13. Really looking forward to this, the final meeting of 2012. Pity Ashley Birks isn't riding, as it's always the preferred option to see a teams own 1-7, but I'm sure Ben Morley will prove an adequate replacement. In this day and age, children aren't frightened of the Halloween monsters etc., but Mum's & Dad's, just prepare your little monsters for the fact that both Jaybea and Old Ponytail will be in town tonight, and that's enough to scare the pants off the strongest of folk No matter who wins tonight, have a good safe meeting to all the riders, and seasonal greetings to everyone involved with both clubs, including the fans of course.
  14. A very enjoyable meeting this, which as many of you have said, some excellent performances from the Rye House riders. Berwick played a big part in the early stages keeping the match close, and well done to them too, but a total of 3-points from the two guest riders was their downfall. Like the Mildenhall v Dudley meeting at King's Lynn a few days earlier, had it still have been August or September, this meeting would have been postponed due to the weather, yet it proved what can be achieved by a little bit of work on the track combined with the full understanding and positivity of the riders......well done to you all. Pat on the back for the referee too, who had his finger on the 2-minute button as soon as the previous race had finished, which saw proceedings completed in around an hour and a half. There is simply no need to drag meetings on, because the public still find the time to use the various catering outlets, so it's not as if the promoters need the interval so they can make a few quid from that facility. Keeping my fingers crossed for a dry day in Suffolk now, so that I can take in the Mildenhall v Stoke meeting. If you're going folks, don't forget it's Halloween, and 'Old Ponytail' will be in town....nuff said!
  15. Thanks Blazeaway. The sun is out here in Norfolk........and Scunthorpe, but think I will gamble on Rye House as Len Silver ensures everybody that the meeting will definetly take place, even if it rains. Having witnessed what Mildenhall rode in against Dudley on Wednesday, would make it difficult for any club justifying a call-off for rain. Here's hoping anyway.
  16. Can anybody give a weather update please, as I don't know whether to make the journey to this meeting or go to Scunthorpe........or maybe even stoip at home. Thanks
  17. Fair enough, maybe that was by the pit gate, but as I said, I was in front of Adam Roynon where is was very quiet.
  18. I was stood right in front of Adam, and didn't hear any abuse, in fact if anything it was the opposite, and very quiet in fear of what might of happened to him. So Mr S1, please don't make statements like that which you well know aren't true, we're all batting for the same side here in the love of our sport, and no real supporter wants to see any rider get hurt, no matter who he is.
  19. As a neutral, it really didn't matter to me one way or the other who won, as I have friends in both camps, and it's such a terrible shame that some people have posted inaccurate and bitter statements on Facebook. Adam Roynon is one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet in speedway, and a terrific talent. However, with regards to Heat 15, I would urge those people that are slagging Stefan Nielsen off to obtain a copy of the DVD, then you'll change your minds about who was to blame for the accident. Thankfully both riders escaped without crippling or life threatening injuries, which is the main thing all supporters should be grateful for, whether you be from Dudley or Mildenhall, although I understand Adam has a possible broken ankle or leg. Quite why the group of Dudley fans that left the stadium prior to the re-run of Heat 15, felt the need to throw abuse (two fingers and swearing) at the man that was running the track shop, beggars belief, as he was only sitting doing his job, and this doesn't paint a good picture of a certain section of the clubs fans, and I can only assume that they may have been the same people that caused problems that I read about at Mildenhall a few weeks ago. On the other side of the coin, a big pat on the back to those Dudley fans that I witnessed who went up to some of the female Mildenhall officials and congraulated them by means of a hug and kiss. So, in conclusion, congratulations to both Dudley and Mildenhall for providing such entertainment throughout 2012, culminating in them both reaching the finals of the National League Play-Off's and KOC Cup. Congratulations also to Keith 'Buster' Chapman, who worked absolute miracles to provide a track for both teams to ply their trade on, I can't think of many that could have achieved that feat.
  20. National League racing is brilliant, well a large percentage of it is. Try and make the journey, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
  21. It did say on the Mildenhall website that the rain-off tickets could NOT be used even prior to the fixture being switched to King's Lynn. Whether that is a legally binding action I'm not sure, because it's not a BSPA shared event, and this meeting falls into the category of the written rain-off rules in the programme. I guess they'll have to be used next Wednesday for the rearranged meeting against Stoke......or will they? The Mildenhall site also said that no further dates were available at West Row, so did that mean that as there's a fixture next week, the meeting against Dudley couldn't be held there too? Anyway forgetting all that, lets hope for a good Fen Tigers fight back tonight, and as they are more local to me than Dudley, I hope they pull off what looks to be the near impossible. The clashes between Adam Roynon and the Stefan Nielsen/Jason Garrity duo should be something a little bit special. The weather 13-miles from the track is just holding in there. It's quite foggy at times with the occasional light drizzle thrown in, but it doesn't look that threatening, just make sure you wear some very warm clothes. For the benefit of any KIng's Lynn fans that are coming, I'm told that there will be a fully stocked shop of both 'Fen Tigers' and 'Stars' merchandise on sale, along with all the general speedway stuff such as books and 2013 Calendars, ready for your Christmas stocking fillers.
  22. The Mildenhall website says that they have no more dates available to them at West Row, so does this mean the fixture against Stoke on the 31st October, will also take place at the Norfolk Arena?
  23. I see the Mildenhall website says that we can't use our rain-off tickets from last Sunday for the meeting against Dudley this coming Wednesday. Can anybody in an official capacity from the club explain why please, when your website says "Normal Admission Prices Apply". Also your programme says that the ticket can be used at any of the next 3 home meetings (of which this is one) excluding BSPA shared events. Surely this fixture doesn't fall into that category does it? If it doesn't, then why are you not abiding by the rules?

    Kings Lynn V Buxton

You're quite right TMW, it was forecast and it did happen, so why don't officials take heed of this sort of thing at all meetings when there is the probability of rain. Last Sunday at Mildenhall just to quote one case, rain was forecast, and one could see by looking at the sky that it wasn't far away, yet still a parade was held instead of getting straight into racing? In this particular case, they probably wouldn't have got through to complete 12-heats, so it would still have been abandoned, but there again they might. Why do we really need rider parades, because a lot of the time, the riders have their helmets on away, surely a quick circuit on the parade truck would suffice. Just my opinion, and as normal, I'm probably in the minority....oh dear!!

No where enough sadly, which is such a shame, because the standard of racing is generally very entertaining, and worthy of public support.
