  3. The club has now been able to release dates of their remaining home National League fixtures, which are as thus. Wednesday 19th September v Isle of Wight Wednesday 26th September v Stoke Wednesday 10th October v Rye House Wednesday 17th Octover v Buxton Hopefully with the fixtures being on what is a normal race day at King's Lynn, will encourage 'Stars' fans that don't normally come along to watch the youngsters to now do so. All four meetings have a 7.30pm start. Apart from the Four Team Finals to be held at Stoke on the 26th August (day after the British Grand Prix), the club just has two away fixtures to fullfil. We race at Mildenhall on Sunday 2nd September at 4.30pm, followed by a visit to the picturesque Buxton on a date to still be advised.

    Rye House 2012

If you look at the Premier League Team Declarations issued today 15/8/2012 on the BSPA website, you won't find Simon listed as a Rye House rider, so it doesn't look as though he's a 'Silver Ski Rocket' as we speak.
  5. Local derby time this Saturday at the Norfolk Arena, with the battered and bruised Young Stars taking on the very powerful Mildenhall team. Line-ups for the fixture are still to be confirmed, but one thing that is known that both clubs will be minus one of their usual septet. Adam Lowe through injury for the home side and skipper Lewis Blackbird for the visitors, who will be riding for Leicester that night. With the Fen Tigers having lost their first league meeting of the season at home to Stoke yesterday, they'll be in a mean and angry mood, and will be more difficult to deal with than normal maybe, but hey, that'll make it all the more fun. As for the severely race rusty Young Stars, they know that if they want to start moving up the table, they can afford to take no prisoners, so a battle royal can be expected. Let's hope for some decent weather, a large crowd, and a good and injury free meeting for the riders, no matter who wins. Tapes up at 7.30pm.
  6. No of course we won't, will hell ever freeze over, or will we ever have a worthy hosepipe ban?
  7. Primarily, I'm a King's Lynn supporter of both the 'Stars' and 'Young Stars', but enjoy going to watch most clubs ride, and do favour National League racing if I'm to be honest. I don't consider myself to be a biased supporter, and if my team gets beaten then so be it, although I'd obviously like them to win, but there are more important things in life than the result of a sports event.......well unless Spurs beat Chelsea . If my wife and I wake up one Sunday morning for instance, and it's a nice day, then it's quite normal for us to make the drive to Derbyshire to watch Buxton v IOW, or whoever they might be riding. Alternatively we might fancy say Scunthorpe v Stoke, or Rye House v Dudley, so go there. At the moment, Mildenhall v Dudley sounds quite appealing this weekend, but there again I could finish up at the Buxton v Stoke match, or maybe Leicester v Workington (PL). I've been a regular since (oh my god!!) 1958 (quickly, somebody tell me I don't look that old ) and started life as Bryn has hinted, supporting Wimbledon. When I moved to Norfolk in 1986, King's Lynn were my nearest club, so they became the obvious team to follow, and when I see what Buster and Family have achieved at the Norfolk Arena both in terms of entertaining teams and stadia upgrades, I couldn't be more proud to be linked with the club. I/We used to travel to the majority of the King's Lynn away fixtures, but midweek isn't easy for us due to health issues, and as there is nearly always National League meetings on offer at weekends, especially if they're in the afternoon, we can get back home at a sensible hour. I know I'm probably in the minority, but I much prefer the 3.00pm or in the case of Mildenhall 4.30pm meetings as apposed to 7.30pm. So as you said fentigers79, I'm a true speedway fan. I've enjoyed watching some of the British Youth Champions these past few years, and can't praise highly enough the job that Neil Vatcher and Phil Morris are doing there. The meeting at Mildenhall back in May was of the highest quality, and your promotion did the series proud in the way everything was presented, and what a healthy sized crowd attended. Last month Scunthorpe put on a good show for the fifth round of the competition, and now I'm eagerly awaiting the final round at Sittingbourne next month. A great little club, and it's such a shame that they are no longer part of our regular racing scene, other than Amateur Meetings. Talking of Amateur Meetings, what fantastic racing some of the Dragons and Southern Track Riders meetings have produced these past few years, not forgetting also the Summer & Winter Series that Richard Hollingsworth organises at Scunthorpe. I like to get along to as many of those as possible too, although I am mainly restricted to the Norfolk Arena with those. Of course there are a fair number of poor races in those meetings, but that applies to racing at any level, just look at last weekends Grand Prix! Going back to the National League scene, when I see youngsters like (and apologies for the many that I won't think of) Chris Widman, Tim Webster, James White-Williams, Darryl Ritchings, Daniel Greenwood, Kyle Hughes, Ben Hopwood, Paul Starke, Mark Baseby, Danny Warwick, Aaron Baseby, Danny Stoneman, Gary Cottham, Marc Owen, Lewis Kerr, Adam Lowe, Brendan Johnson, Jake Knight, Scott Campos, Tom Stokes, Lewis Rose, Daniel Halsey, Stefan Nielsen, Joe Jacobs, Josh Bates, Joe Graver, Nathan Stoneman, Ryan Terry-Daley, Ben Morley, James Sarjeant, Shane Hazelden, Richard Franklin, Luke Chessell, Tom Braddock, Tom Young, Oliver Greenwood, Daniel Phillips, Tommy Fenwick, Max Clegg, Adam Wrathall, Liam Carr, Ben Reade, Liam Rumsey, Jaimie Pickard, Daniel Berwick & Jack Kingston, I worry for their future. Each and everyone of those I've named are I believe BRITISH but because of the amount of overseas riders that are allowed to compete in the Premier League, the majority of them will eventually be lost to the sport, because there is nowhere for them to go, yet given the chance to perform on that higher platform, a number of them would blossom rather than stagnate. I'm British, and that's why I particular care about the league that gives my fellow countrymen the chance to do what they were born to do. That probably sounds if I'm knocking the overseas riders, but I'm not, because many of them are a sheer joy to watch, and worthy of gracing our raceways, but some aren't. My personal opinion is that the Elite League should have both reserve berths filled by British riders that are also riding Premier League. The Premier League should then use two riders that are also competing in the National League in the No 6 and 7 jackets, and the reserves in the National League should be virtual newcomers such as Tyler Govier, Lewis Rose, Robert Lambert (when old enough) etc., etc. Of course many of you will disagree with those thoughts and have your own opinions, but that's what makes the world go around, and we're all entitled to those opinions. Sadly as I'm typing this out, the man in the house opposite is mowing his lawn, his wife is fannying around with a rose bush, and the King's Lynn v Belle Vue meeting, followed by an Anglia Junior League match against Ipswich in the 2nd Half has been rained-off just down the road. Oh well, I'll have to watch the England v Italy footie instead, whilst Jaybea will no doubt be engrossed in Celebrity Big Brother. I wonder what that saucy lady in the mask will be up to :P

    Mk 20 Stoke 14 (13/8/12)

Sean Mason rode in the Southern Track Riders meeting at King's Lynn on Sunday, scoring 3-points. If it should read Jamie Moohan, which is what I thought when I read your original posting, then like Sean Mason, he also rode in the STR meeting on Sunday and like Mason, scored 3-points.
  9. It was printed in house MrMungo, and as the necessary people were on site throughout the day, we were able to make those last minute changes.
  10. Phew, two additional riders included in the Open Class made chaos of trying to adjust the programme, but we got there in the end. What we witnessed was a meeting with lots of passing and at times neck to neck racing, and these Southern Track Riders certainly know how to put on a show. With it being such a hot afternoon, dust started to rise quite early on, but trackman Mick Daw did a great job in keeping the situation under control, which was a blessing for both the riders and the supporters. The results were as follows: - YOUTH 125cc CLASS Macauley Leek (3-3-3-3-3) = 15 YOUTH 250cc CLASS Lewis Whitmore (3-3-3-3-3) = 15 Mitchell Beckett (2-2-2-2-2) = 10 NOVICE CLASS Neal Richmond (2-F-2-3-2) = 9 Shaun Smith (R-2-3-F-3) = 8 Dave Smith (3-3-1-1-FN) = 8 Rich Pearce (F-R-0-2-FD) = 2 INTERMEDIATE CLASS Ricky Davison (3-3-3-3) = 12 John Markham (1-3-2-3) = 9 Mick Skinner (3-2-3-F) = 8 Rod Woodhouse (2-2-3-1) = 8 Andrew Leech (3-0-2-2) = 7 Tom Rowlett (2-1-2-2) = 7 Paul Robinson (0-3-F-2) = 5 Sean Greenfield (0-1-0-3) = 4 Nathan Clare (2-0-1-F) = 3 Dave Patten (0-2-1-F) = 3 Sid Higgins (1-1-1-R) = 3 Ian Leverington (1-0-N-N) = 1 C Final: 1st Sid Higgins 2nd Dave Patten B Final: 1st Tom Rowlett 2nd Sean Greenfield 3rd Paul Robinson 4th Nathan Clare - Fell A Final: 1st Ricky Davison 2nd Andrew Leech 3rd Rod Woodhouse 4th Mick Skinner - EF OPEN CLASS Brendan Johnson (3-3-3-3) = 12 Rob Hollingworth (1-3-2-3) = 9 Andy Mountain (1-R-3-2) = 6 Nick Laurence (0-2-2-2) = 6 James Cockle (3-1-N-N) = 4 Sean Mason (2-R-1-N) = 3 Jamie Moohan (0-2-1-N) = 3 Adam Kirby (2-F-0-1) = 3 B Final: 1st Adam Kirby A Final: 1st Andy Mountain 2nd Brendan Johnson 3rd Rob Hollingworth 4th Nick Laurence If you happen to be on holiday at the Isle of Sheppy over the August Bank Holiday, then there is a meeting at Sittingbourne on the 26th with a midday start. Next STR meeting at the Norfolk Arena is on Sunday 2nd September at midday, which leaves enough time to get to Mildenhall afterwards to see their league match against the Young Stars.
  11. Just a reminder to local speedway fans that their is a FREE meeting at the Norfolk Arena this lunch time (12.00pm) as the Southern Track Riders hold another of their meetings. These meetings often contain riders such as Brendan Johnson, Andy Mountain, Robert Hollingworth, Lewis Rose and so on and so forth, and on top of that, are producing riders that have now progressed to the Anglia Junior and Midland Development leagues, so it's a more than worthy cause of competition. If you have a couple of hours or so to spare, do pop along, because as I say, it's not going to cost you a penny. The usual food outlets will be open, so you won't go hungry or thirsty either. Hope to see you at lunch time, and bring your sun cream.
  12. Well done to both teams for another good nights racing, with Mildenhall being the deserved winners....Oh Dear!! Very impressed with Joe Jacobs and Josh Bates, and as for Stefan Nielsen (SHEER CLASS). After spending 6-years as our mascot, it's disappointing that he's slipped through our net. I also thought Ryan Terry-Daley looked very good despite his failure to score. As for my beloved 'Young Stars', they didn't shine quite so well this time round, but I'm sure they'll be back to their best on Wednesday week when Rye House come to town. Lewis Kerr, Lewis Rose and Tom Stokes I thought were very competitive. Scott Campos & James Cockle seem to be going backwards a bit, but for all I know, they maybe carrying and injury, not feeling well, or have machinery problems, so as I don't know the facts, I can't be to critical. Brendan Johnson is still new to the club with us having so few home meetings, and he's doing okay. Jake Knight can at times be brilliant, but then there are times when he appears to be nervous and shuts off his throttle. But like so many riders he's taken some bad knocks in the past 12-months, and it maybe a confidence problem. He wants to succeed, as can be seen by the miles to places like Sheffield and Berwick he travels, just for after meeting rides. So as I said at the start, we didn't deserve to win this particular meeting, but I'm still happy with our little lot, and long may that continue. Roll on Wednesday week.
  13. Boooootiful day here in Noorfoolk. Due to the unfortunate injury to Cameron Heeps, this has probably made the prospect of the meeting being even more exciting than it would have been, because it brings both sides more onto a slightly more level playing field. Tom Young is an excellent replacement however, and I hope the absence of two of the Fen Tigers top riders doesn't deter their fans from still making the short journey. You've still got enough power there, especially in Stefan Nielsen, to show us the way home. On the flip side of the coin, Lewis Kerr is riding way above his limited experience, and if Jake Knight gets out of the gate......and keeps his throttle open......he's a tough cookie to crack. It all makes for a great night out at the speedway, no matter which team you support, where rival fans can stand/sit and enjoy each others company. Meeting starts at 7.30pm.
  14. I'll pop up and give you a pat on the head Bryn, but won't be wearing my hearing aid, so I'll be able to save your lungs some work....how's your sign language?? Is Goldberg going to be there, or is he still competing in the athletics at the Olympic Games? Seriously though, it's always a fun few hours out for real speedway fans and something that as you say, is free. Yep a good weekend what with the Young Stars v Mildenhall tonight followed by the STR Meeting tomorrow lunch-time, and we'll stil be home in time to see Goldberg bopping away to the Spice Girls at the Closing Ceremony.
  15. Record the GP and watch it when you get home.....ah another problem solved
  16. He's still got some metal work in his leg, and won't consider riding again until such time it's removed, whenever that turns out to be.

    Lakeside Junior Hammers

Congratulations to 'Young Hammers' youngster Adam Ellis, who has now been handed the No 8 position with the Isle of Wight in the National League. What remarkable progress this young man from France is making in such short a space of time.
  18. You could well be right, and the best way for folk to find out is to come along and support their respective teams. We may surprise you, who knows!!!

    Carmarthen

And what a terrible shame that was too. I made the extremely long journey twice (there and back in the same day), and it was worth every hour of the tiring journeys. The whole set-up looked tailor made for speedway, and I'd have thought an attractive tourism magnet for the many people that holiday in that area. In fact I go back on what I said about it being a terrible shame, it would be better described as a bl**dy tragedy, as is the loss of Newport.
  20. Yes, fair point Richard. Yes, that is the final round of what has been an excellent series.
  21. Excellent afternoon's racing, and as Albert said, what a shame more people didn't turn up to watch it. What else can you do for just £5? Many of the riders took the eye and ought to have very bright futures in the sport, if the system allows for them to progress naturally. Some of these lads are on a par with some in the National League already, and there are lads in the that league that are ready for the Premier League, but it doesn't contain room for them, apart from the odd few, which is extremely worrying. Zach Wajtknect stood out for me, and it'll be interesting to see how he copes when he moves up to the 500cc Class. Forty races in 2 hours 15 minutes, now that's how speedway should be run, instead of spending around 3-hours getting through 15-heats as so many tracks do. That sort of sharpness, might just invite a few more people through the turnstiles around the country, expecially on the darker and colder evenings. When round two was staged at Mildenhall, it drew an extremely healthy crowd, so why this didn't, especially with it being staged on one of the best circuits in England, is a mystery to say the least. There were a handful of people in attendance wearing (Sorpions/Saints) clothing, three people from the Canterbury area of Kent, two from Cleethorpes, plus myself and my wife from near Hunstanton in Norfolk. So a bad show all round really. Luckily the entire afternoon stayed dry and sunny for the most part, but phew did we hit some horrendous thunderstorms driving home, real scary mary stuff!!!!
  22. Next Friday evening sees Great Britain celebrate the Opening Ceremony for the Olympic Games, a prestigious occasion indeed, but forget that because that's where DVD recorders and the like come into their own. Put your running shoes on, and get yourself down to the Norfolk Arena, as that's where the 'Young Stars' will be holding their Opening Ceremony to the 2012 home season. Not quite I know, but with it being just a few days to August, we stage just our third meeting of the season here in Norfolk. Scunthorpe 'Saints' and deadly local derby rivals are in town, and there could be no finer way to relaunch our 2012 home campaign. With the likes of former Ipswich rider Jerran Hart at Premier League level in their ranks, along with current PL performers in the shape of Gary Irving and Steven Worrall, this could be one of the toughtest meetings we encounter this season. Dudley, Mildenhall and Stoke will also provide stern opposition when they visit, as will all clubs come to that, but by then, the boys will have shaken off some of their race dustiness, so will probably be sharper, As you know, we've got a good 1-7 here at King's Lynn, and although both Dudley & Mildenhall are yet to lose a league match, what's to say we can't put a winning run together, and join them at the top of the league. With your support, I'm sure we've got an outstanding chance of doing that, so why not come down and join in and enjoy our second Opening Cermony. Start time is 7.30pm.
  23. I know it's early, but an early departure from home is required. Any news on the weather in Scunny please, as the forecast doesn't seem good? Thanks

    King's Lynn Young Stars

I have asked Dale for one, but there doesn't seen to be a confirmed one as yet, but I'm sure as and when there is, it'll be posted on here. All the uncertainty doesn't make life easy does it, because you can't plan ahead with other things you want to do in life, unless of course the speedway takes second best, then that's a shame. I always try to make the speedway my No 1 priority, but must admit that it's becoming more and more difficult to do so.
  25. Mr Mungo, will you be one of the several, or are you going to Eastbourne to see the big boys? Both fixtures look as though they'll be good.
