  1. Is anybody actually going to this meeting tonight, or are you all staying at home to watch the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony? Can't believe how few postings there are about the meeting!! Oh! if anyone is going, the weather is good at the moment, and 'Lucy' on 'Daybreak' this morning that there would be a mixture of sun and cloud this evening.

    Str Meeting Iow 17/07/12

Does anybody by any chance have the scorers from all classes, plus the results of any finals staged please>
  3. Derek, Did Adam Kirby make any attempt to start Heat 2, or didn't he even get away from the pits? Cheers Mike
  4. Did you realise Parsloes, that both times Lakeside have ridden at Rye House this season in a challenge match, they have finished with an identical score of 16-19 to the Junior Hammers, with both meetings reaching their natural conclusion of six-heats? The one time when it really mattered as it was for league points, only four heats were achieved, although the Essex side still emerged victors.
  5. Correct first time, now have a look at your e-mails for a truly wonderful photo!!!
  6. Good Morning Parsloes, this is the non Edmondton resident calling. Heat 1 = 60.4 Heat 2 = 63.3 Heat 3 = 63.0 Heat 4 = 61.0 I'm certain Craig announced Heat 6 as 62.0 I think the middle of the three under 15's races was 59.2 but can't be certain as I was talking to an Westminster born ex-Crayford rider at the time!!
  7. You'll catch me one day, but you'll need to be out of bed before 11.17am
  8. As I moved away from Wimbledon in 1986, I wouldn't have a clue who was riding second halves at Plough Lane after that. Okay, my next stab at this intriguing poser that you've set me is CECIL FORBES. If it's not him, then you'll have to give me a further clue, cos I'm sure as hell not giving up on this one yet.
  9. Former 'Don' Bob Andrews was born in Edmonton. Give me a bit of a clue, is he still riding in any of the three leagues?
  10. That'll be your favourite rider of all time..................James Cockle.......well Mr James Cockle to you!!
  11. The Pearce brothers Dad told me that they were both born in Upper Edmonton, so maybe they were conceived in Waltham Forest
  12. Sorry, didn't realise he'd left, so that'll be my mistake.
  13. Wow, what a fantastic final race of the afternoon, simply impossible to better. Congratulations to all involved at Berwick, it would have been a travesty of justice had you not won, as you were by far the best team on show. Well done too to Christian Henry who was superb for Newcastle. Very good afternoon all round apart from the presenter who gabbled on so quickly, it was difficult to know what he was rabbiting on about, but at least Edwin was audible.
  14. What a great meeting, and congratulations to both Australia and Great Britain for their continuation in the competition. I thought the Czech Republic deserve a few plaudits too, as they did better than I thought they would. As for the 'Monster Girls'...........my eyesight has gone funny Age caught up with me tonight, as I got a tad confused with the jokers, tac subs, and everything else that was thrown at us, oh dear my programme's in a mess.

Buxton V Young Stars July 1st

Hi Martin, Forgetting about the disappointment of seeing no speedway, especially as King's Lynn were going to win , the broken tooth made it not such a good day out. Still, Jan enjoyed looking around the shops, at all the things us men just love to do....Mmmmm!! I couldn't even find an Ann Summers outlet to pass some time in!!!!!!!!!! All the Best Mike

Very many thanks Jayne for texting me with the news that the meeting had been rained-off, it was much appreciated. As I said in my reply, I was walking around Bakewell by then (we always leave early so as to make a day of it) and it was bone dry there. It must be very difficult for you promoters to know what decision to make, because an hour or so later, my wife and I were eating our picnic in the park at Buxton where it was dry. I know from experience down this end where we've had a meeting called off at the Norfolk Arena, yet less than half a mile up the road it was completely free of the wet stuff. It's very frustrating for all concerned. Unfortunately apart from the wasted money on fuel, I broke my bloomin' tooth whilst sitting eating my roll (okay, I know you want to know what was in it.....Cheese & Cucumber!!) so I'll have an expensive dental bill tomorrow too. Oh Happy Days!!

Maybe Jayne will know a bit more prior to me setting off on my trek from deepest Norfolk before most people are up!!!! Fingers crossed anyway.

I'd also be grateful if any Hitmen supporters that live in the close proximity of the circuit, could keep us updated on the weather situation. I'm leaving Norfolk at 7.00am tomorrow morning, so if anyone is up and about then, a quick posting on here would be much appreciated, so that a possible wasted journey can be avoided. Thank You Mike

    Lakeside Junior Hammers

Okay Derek, I'll go with Bryn's version of events then. Thanks very much for your help.

    Lakeside Junior Hammers

Cheers OLD mate! When Jack Kingston fell and was injured, was he disqualified from the re-run of the heat, or was he allowed back in, but withdrew himself? Derek, I've noticed a discrepancy and wondered if you could tell me which version of events is correct. You're report says that Rhys Naylor scored 4-points and Lewis Rose 3+2 points. However, Bryn has reported in the Speedway Star that Naylor had 3+1 and Rose 4+1. Cheers mate Mike

    Lakeside Junior Hammers

Hi Derek, Could you possibly let me have the results etc from this meeting please, as I have been on holiday, and search as I may, I just can't find them anywhere? Thanks Mike
  23. Spot on Main Man. 27th July 1985 (almost 27-years ago, frightening eh!). COVENTRY 43: Tommy Knudsen 11 Kelvin Tatum 9 John Jorgensen 8 Steve Bastable 6 Frank Andersen 4 Rick Miller 3 David Bargh 2 HALIFAX 35: Kenny Carter 14 Neil Evitts 6 Eric Monaghan 5 Rod Hunter 4 Kurt Hansen 3 Larry Ross 2 Doug Wyer 1 The worrying thing is that whilst a lot of the good people on this forum won't have heard of some of those riders, the stark reality is that you and I knew them all...oh dear!! The very final meeting I believe between the two clubs at Brandon was the British Junior League match that followed the main event, with the home side running out comfortable 30-12 winners. Hope the weather doesn't spoil things on Friday, not that I'll be there, as I'm sunnng myself in Majorca, well will be by tonight. The forecasters got things horribly wrong in Norfolk yesterday, where I'm told the rain had all cleared away by 2.30pm. In my home village 13-miles away, we saw nothing after 10.00am, and I was able to mow my lawns prior to jetting off today. Not that this is the place to go into personal matters, but just to let you know that my wife received news on Thursday that all remains stable, and you know what I'm talking about. All the Best Main Mimmo

Dragons At Kings Lynn - Sunday June 10th

Huh, so much for a bad weather forecast, as the meeting went ahead on what was almost certainly the warmest day of the year at the Norfolk Arena, complete with unbroken sunshine. Although conditions became a tad dusty in the later stages, the quality of racing was good, and at times very good, and kept the fairly large sprinkling of King's Lynn supporters in attendance, more than happy. The meeting had to be aborted before the various finals could be stage, as the medical team time had expired, so results were declared on the four rides each format. CLUB CLASS 1. This is usually one of the best attended meetings, one that amateur racing fans seem to love, and is well worth the journey to the pretty little Kent venue. Cheers Mike
