  1. I cann recall him from when I was a very small kid and he came to Foxhall...immaculate machine and leathers...just wondered if there is anyone out there who knew him ??

He retired at any early age, and I met him briefly at Briggo Golden Greats..seemed a shy fella.

    I googled it.   https://uk.news.yahoo.com/poland-may-reimpose-quarantine-travel-115445379.html

Most cases were in the Silesia region which has Wroclaw as the capital.   But the people who caught it were mainly coal miners.    Polish government thinking about beefing up the laws or imposing quarantine on some visitors.   This is not good news and not going away.

That is the advice and information we had...That area is sadly now having far more cases..Thus we cancelled Wroclaw some weeks ago..also Gorzow and Prague...we are now considering Torun..we will ONLY travel if the FCO and local experts consider the area not under threat....life is too short to take stupid risks whatever the past enjoyments.

Berlin have provisional dates but are not releasing them just yet, whilst Heerenveen have not decided yet. I know April 2-4 was mentioned on last years thread for Heerenveen, but that is Easter weekend, and I cant see them running then. Only Inzell appear to have confirmed dates. As for Russia - well they release them at the last minute anyway.

very many thanks...have you any idea on the Berlin dates please ???

  4. One of the major problems which supporters seem not to understand is INSURANCE. Currently no UK Insurance company will cover any individual or company with anything even loosely connected or caused by Covid 19. That means if a hotel suddenly closed..infections ...stadium crowds...buses...Lets say something happens and you have bought tickets/rooms/plane seats..etc...you will not be covered...and nor will any hospitalisation...or treatment.....Everyone with a European medical card will get BASIC cover....and ONLY basic cover. All cancellations we have instigated have been covered by ourselves so no client misses out financially...But All this has cost us a large sum...but it could have been worse....we have full  ATOL/ABTA cover and everything financial is Government guaranteed....worth thinking about.  But above all GOOD HEALTH is not something you can gamble with

DOUBT whether that is true. Without Terry Russell's initial efforts there would have been no Sky deal in the first place. He was entitled to commission then, as would anyone who brought in millions. It was Terry who kept the deal going and the promoters were happy to continuing paying commission. It was only when certain parties thought they could do better without Terry that the Sky deal started to falll out of bed.

That is absolutely correct. I seem to recall that an origination of a sponsorship is possibly around 20%...but any subsequent re-negotiation the commission goes down to 10%...again this is pretty much standard in all sports/commercial deals. Also 80% of a wedge is a bloody sight better than 100% of **** all.

Again from experience the effort that Terrence put into ALL aspects of Speedway has far,far outweighed any rewards he has received. At times the BSPA was full of people who did nothing but grizzle and moan about their share, whilst doing absolutely nothing to improve their business or the overall good of the sport.

Just wonder if Wroclaw are being slightly clever here. Keeping the majority of the  money paid for a year. It would not surprise me if Wroclaw in fact is one of the venues for the revised GP series at the back end of this season. 2 meetings on consecutive days with 50% stadium capacity.

that would be fraud..misleading etc.....if they have cancelled the 2021 they cannot in law suddenly re-invent it..mind you it is speedway..

Well said James. We've crossed swords occasionally but I sympathise with you totally in this situation. Clearly you are doing your best.

Your business and Sharings are rather different. You don't have a large fleet of coaches and a chain of hotels to run. I do hope that this will carry out through, as I do with all businesses involved with speedway at this awful time. Real people are getting hurt, apart from the tragic loss of life.

many thanks Rob...Truly appreciate your kindness...I hope that people support the Speedway Star...as like me Phil has spent his whole life involved (always with entirely good intenions) in Speedway. ..to be honest these days nobody makes even a decent living from their efforts..but positivity and trust  is everything at the moment...thanks again..

Apologies but no malice was intended except that obviously the travel industry has suffered badly together with tourism and the lesiure industry generallly during the pandemic and was only making a sincere observation that hopefully things will be okay within TPT as it's a service I have personally used in the past and found it to be a superb organisation in all aspects and well respected within the speedway fraternity.

Many thanks   and gratefully accepted...as you may appreciate

indeed many nights of late have been sleepless...but if this business was that easy every bugger would be doing It....wish yo well and thanks again. james

I certainly hope so...just hope TPT can remain solvent during these troubled times without obviously knowing their business infrastructure.

I can assure you that I run this company in a totally professional  way. ALL..repeat ALL clients money is held in a separate account...and we were lucky..not clever... in that the monies paid to airlines in advance are in the process of refund...same with 2 meeting stadium tickets....same with 2 hotels. Had this dreadful shutdown happened a month later, it doesn't bear thinking about. We have contacted all affected clients, and once extra meetings are OFFICIALLY cancelled, they too will be looked after. We have offered financial structured refund policy, and 80% of our superb clients money is deposit only...and we are grateful that everyone has been supporting us whilst we re-structure and plan.  Nobody will suffer financially..except (sadly) yours truly. However I do take exception to your remarks about (a fine company) Shearings, and I am advised that your statement is libellous...We are NOT taking bookings on anything..and in fact have already cancelled everything up to September.and should this quarantine continue, then I will cancel any affected tour..I will nOt risk my clients money, well being or health..Should you wish to speak with me then I would be happy to put you correct. As for Speedway Star the management, staff and product is an organisation Speedway should be proud of. The product of late has been amazing given these troubled times...and i am both proud and grateful to be associated with them.

  10. To be honest this is (approx) how I see the situation. I cannot think that early august will be a runner with WARSAW/WROCLAW...I think VOJENS may well run...and possibly with WARSAW as the final...could easily be in November....still waiting on what Boris says about stadiums on Sunday. for Cardiff....

I really cannot see RUSSIA happening...from my colleagues in MOSCOW the situation there and in the more outlaying regions is desperate....

  11. I cannot begin to describe my loathing of these cretins who question and moan and complain about a Government which is trying its ar*e off to get us out of "the plague"

Just imagine the horror of a Government headed by CORBYN/McDONALL/ABBOTT.

These cretins have probably never had to run a company, never had any REAL responsibility, answerable to literally thousands of people.

I bear no love for the Governing party, but my loathing of the gripes, moans and questioning of these self important idiots literally knows no bounds.

    • Thanks 3

  12. We (as Aussie) rode at Diedenbergen...fabulous place...and the whole afternoon was pure entertainment...you could stand on teh back straight and see Frankfurt airport.

The problem was once described by my old mate Dave Lanning....he said "The problem with speedway is that it considers itself "Daily telegraph"..when in truth its "The sun" and you can eat

chips out of it as well.

    says everything.

I would just like to say speedy recovery to I.O.W promotor Martin Widman who is currently in hospital after falling ill.

Martin is a fantastic & genuine man who has done wonders along side Barry & the loyal staff on the Island.

I would add m,y very best wishes to this. Both Martin and Barry are excellent people as well as fine examples of how to promote sport.
