  1. Whys that then, because i don't dance to your tunes and tell you what you want to hear...

I don't have a tune my friend just an opionion! I feel your posts are often in the negative and based mainly on team bias. Sadly that seems to be norm on the forum these days. That is why I rarely post any more and tend not to look in that much lately. I also note most of the original forum members appear to have lost patience and are not seen of late.

  2. I changed my viewing last night from back straight to the bar. I normally move to the back straight after the first pint but rather than get wet externally I chose to stay put and wet my insides instead!

The crowd was down from Friday. I think there are a number of reasons for this. Having already raced on Friday another on Monday and a further home meeting on Friday can get a little expensive even with a discount for the middle match. these schedules make no sense to me? The weather would not have helped and I think the England Ladies were playing in the World Cup. A lot would save a tenner and watch from the comfort of there arm chair. Another factor could be our recent home record. The crowd I would say was 1/2 to 2/3rds down from Friday. I personally went because I cannot make next Friday and always prefer to watch at the track (you can see so much more).

I thought the meeting itself had some good racing despite the conditions and Lingrens poor showing.

I hope the person removed from the main stand by the medical team is ok.

  3.

. It was the same last year when he kept putting PK in heat 15 whe PK wasn't scoring.

Is this the same PK who scored paid 13 last week and helped win us the match in heats 14 and 15 last week :D:D

    Wolfie.

Wolfie, PK last season was not the same rider and I feel he would have been a better guest than fast Freddie!

I'm not getting this luck thing. Lakeside had one but if bad luck, the heat 14 EF but had that race been awarded the first time it would have been a 4-2 to coventry meaning 43-41 going into heat 15 and the Bees 5-1 would have made it 46-44 to the Bees.

What other bad luck did they have?

Coventry deserved to win and did so.

Anyone else find it odd that the Danes are struggling this year? Hans, Bech, Bjerre, Porsing and Bjarne. Even Iversen is not his usual self other than at Lynn. Co-incidence or some reason for it?

As you say a case of if my Aunty.

However I do think Richard may have had an outing in 15 and I think it took a bit of the wind out of our sails. (I refer you to my Aunty).

Most enjoyable meeting by the way. Apart from an Idiot shouting about Bech not getting off the track in 14 (If that was the case he must have some confidence in his skipper).

  4. Actually there is a really good excuse for the 10 min interval on a cold night and that is to allow the track staff to go to the loo and have a hot drink after standing out in the cold for over an hour!

Perhaps they can also check on the condition of the showers whilst there at it!

  5. Very good round Peterborough for rye a couple of weeks back, dropped 1pt from 3 rides then a 2M exclusion in his other.

Swindon different kettle of fish to Peterborough 29yds longer and longer straights, different shape I believe? Still should give a good idea of his progress/flexibility!

Interesting Statistic Arena 275yds, (Small), Peterborough 367yds (medium ?), Swindon 396yds (large) Custom house 415yds (Big) 450yds (original pre Jack Young) The change in shape at custom House helped the racing so, as I say to the missis it's not all about size!

  6. I can understand why people who made the journey to Swindon for the match yesterday will have felt angry and frustrated that it was called off apparently quite late in the day. As a member of the track staff who had been there since 8.30am (two members of the staff had been there for most of Thursday as well getting as much done as possible), I can tell you that we tried out utmost to get the meeting on. The track was in good condition, one puddle on the main staright apart, throughout the morning. By the time that the greyhounds had finished the sky was brightening and it was warming up (slightly). The weather forecasts that we consulted were very contradictory - rain thoughout the afternoon - no rain until 5pm - no rain until 10pm. We watched the clouds and the wind direction and, by mid afternoon, as the riders began to arrive, I was sure we would be OK.

Most of the riders seemed surprised by the state of the track and vans were unpacked. And then the drizzle started, a drizzle that steadily grew heavier and heavier. The track surface started to shine and after an hour's worth of rain it was clear that the meeting could not go ahead - it would have been a mudbath.

I can tell you, that going around, unpinning the air fence, at 6pm in the pouring rain, just about finished it for me and the rest of the lads who'd battled all day to get the match on. Soaked to the skin, aching from a full day's work and frustrated by not a single wheel turning, it was a day that will not linger long in my memory.

We could have called it off at 9am. It was raining then and the weather forecasters were saying that it would rain on until 4pm. If we had given in we could all have spent a day with our families, or even in work. You can't win!

All I can say is that we tried - that's everyone involved with Swindon speedway. We tried to get a meeting on but were beaten by the weather - sorry!

I'm sure all speedway fans across the country appreciate the time an effort put in by track staff and promotions trying to get a meeting on so you will hear no criticism from me. If you are a speedway fan a rain off is part of the sport sadly it is dictated by weather conditions. I understand it is annoying but no one is at fault.

  7. As far as I was aware there was or used to be showers? Not sure I would use them though, probable cold water, but hey these are big hard speedway riders :icon_smile_clown:

As the promotion do not own the facility I think it is difficult. I agree what I have seen of the facility it leaves a lot to be desired. In this day and age a grant from sport England could help or think out of the box and share some other local facility for a small charge!

I'm think (not 100%) sure he's guesting at Swindon for you on Thursday in place of Birks.

Should be interesting to see how the the lad goes on a big track!

  8. I think that hits the nail on the head. Lakeside is an aquired taste. I didn't like the place for years and wouldn't go there but soon after the present promotion took over I decided to give it another try on the off chance, someting clicked with me and I have enjoyed it ever since.

I think a lot of speedwáy is about perception.

P.S. West Ham was the best track in the history of the universe, but being young and seeing the sport through youthful eyes was good as well.

When I watched regularly at Custom House and visiting places like Wimbledon, Hackney and Ipswich they always seemed kind of small and quirky, as you say it is all about perception.?

Funnily enough I never had that with Romford my Thursday night track, perhaps because I spent half the night ducking.

I do not know what I would have made of New Cross and Walthamstow but I bet it would have been a shock to the system.

  9. I must admit I missed the first 2 races, whether there were overtakes in that I don't know. But for the remaining 13 races I can remember I think 3-4 mainly due to mistakes the 2 overtakes in the 2nd reserves race was first a mistake from Boxall and then from Kerr to let him back through.Couldn't see how Lambert passed Boxall.Like somebody said Bjerre had a good race with Jonsson but he wasn't going to move off the blue groove so Bjerre was never going to go by in a month of Sundays.

I do believe Lakeside actually comes over better on the TV than it does actually being there.

Tellboy what was your vantage point? Having watched a lot of my speedway at a big track (West Ham) it did take a while to get used to racing at Arena but it is no way as bad as people make out.

  10.

Todays result, in itself, wasn't that important, but thinking more in the way of how the team rode and who performed well could be a bigger concern. Was it down to the early season form, the rustiness of the riders, state of the track, or that lakeside were just too good. Whatever the conclusions it's too early to make rash judgements.

I seen enough of KB over the years to know he blows hot and cold. You talk about bringing Mads back in his place, but you can only compare Mads with Kenneth when he's cold. When Kenneth is riding well, Mads wouldn't live with him.

'Well Done' to Richard Lawson, for doing a big full house. Anyone who beats Niels twice has to be a bit special........... Don't seem that long ago I saw him at EESG riding at reserve for the Panthers, whilst KB was their No.1. Amazing how things change round in such a short time........

How about someone who beats him three times out of three rides! a bit special or home track advantage?

    Great post by the way.

  11. Ah, I was going by last weeks SS and won't have this weeks till tomorrow or Friday. That means SS were wrong last week when they said there were 5.93 left. If there is actually 6.59 left it makes interesting and strengthens the case for Swiderski on 6.22 over Nilsson on 5.63 but there might be leeway for someone else.

Vaclav Milik, Joonas or being a bit naughty MJJ?

  12. Kennett is a better rider than his current Elite league average in my opinion so would be worth a punt. He rides our track well an should improve his average.

What I have a problem with is a couple of misdemeanours in the past. Siting on the track not clearing his bike and injuring one of our riders! and the incident with the silencer against us!

  13. I think the team will be

    1. Andreas jonsson 9.03
    2. Richard Lawson 6.50
    3.Other ?
    4. Kim nilsson 5.63
    5. Mikkel bech 6.85

    6 Ashleigh Burks

    7 Adam Ellis

Ben Barker5.85 Not sure he would fit in well with AJ and Mikkel!

Mads Korneliussen 5.95 ok away needs to get dialled in around Arena

Timo Lahti 5.45 rides Arena well worth a punt (swap riding order)

    Club assests I believe

Peter Ljung 5.54 all depends on what Peter turns up! bit inconsistent

Jonas Davidsson not sure of average on right equipment and fully committed worth a punt at third heat leader IMHO

  14. As someone who was at the meeting I felt it was a very raceable track and none of the riders in heat 10 seemed to have a problem riding it and I felt short changed by the whole fiasco

I did not go to the meeting but watched it back and was glad I made the right decision. I did not feel short changed as I was watching England Ladies beat South Africa at a dryer bit of the county ;)

The gate was slightly larger as well!!!!!
