78 & 79 - Bees took the title & defended it. Olsen was Champ in 78 & a very young Tommy Knudsen appeared on the scene & what a rider, him at #7 beating Ivan Mauger. Bees v Hull for the title in 79 was awesome..............well at least through the eyes of a 12 year old lad It was all so simple then, I suppose as I new less about the politics etc then & just enjoyed the racing/smell/atmosphere/exotic names, (Alf Busk). Fantastic days

UK speedway, certainly at EL level is doing a fine job of destroying itself, it does not need the assistance of the big O or anyone else for that matter:blink: He always has championed riding in the wet & argued that it can & should be done. -

The Golem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How dare you insult the living deity that is our lord The big O May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your backside If Speedway had more people like Lord Olsen involved, it might just be a little bit more marketable. As for BP, he needs to get away from the blue groove & move to a decent track/promotion, say Brandon, he would thrive As for this GP, destroyed by the weather. End off -

I believe there are photos somewhere One of the scariest moments of my life tell you what, you on a push bike & me on a 125 speedway bike, what a match race that would be (You'd probably still win ) That'd put a few thousand on the gate - HG in leathers -

Blimey, Doug Wyer & Dave Perks in a match race............ -
Have you considered anger manaqement?
-
Andy Hackett Cracking little racer, who always appeared on the brink of stepping up from quality reserve to the team proper when some form injury would knock him back.

Don't know about Mrs O? I think Martin was more of a BRISCA man. Takes all sorts I suppose

You mean Our Lord, The CO, Gem, sadly departed........ No I was just thinking an interview with the family would be of interest, after all he was one of the pioneers & Speedway was his living as opposed to most who have other business interests outside.

Christ, you lot are allowed to govern yourselves Still thought you were a colony They'll be letting women vote next -
If I could do maths, I'd be an accountant I just want the issues featuring Shirra & Olsen. Can I do this? As an aside & without wishing tom offend Gem or Lt, how about an interview with the Ochiltree family?
-
I take it that's a no then
-
Can you buy individual copies of the mag anywhere, I would like to get hold of the Shirra & Olsen editions if possible? HG

Are we still talking about speedway then? Or does sandie know something about concrete we don't? Might be useful as an attraction at the testimonial -

Not a chance in Shovlar world Are you daring to suggest in a public forum that Wimborne Rd, is anything other than on a par with Wembley Stadium? How very dare you. I was under the impression it was Poole's very own Hanging Gardens of Babylon & very near the 8th Wonder of the world -

Are you serious I am a right minded Bees' fan, I used to dislike Leicester, Birmingham then Cradley, Wolves were but a minor insignificance, unfortunately Kennel Central is all that is left in local rivalry terms, so naturally I am biased against them, especially as I was brought up on a diet of those cheating wasterels "Sudden Sam" & Ronnie "take as many minutes as you want to get to the start old son" Correy. That said I find myself strangely drawn to Kennel Central when they race the Pirates, who have never done anything to upset me & are largely insignificant to me, its just the overwhelming arrogance & endless hype/over egging of all things Poole by some that causes this pathalogical desire to see them fall flat on their faces, although not literally obviously Irrational I know but isn't that what supporting any team is about? rivalries At this moment, Cov have the bragging rights, that will change at some point, just so long as its not your lot or the minnows from the south coast who take them on
