    Memories Of White City

I used to travel on the A40 to work in Central London in the early 90's & always used to sit in the traffic trying to work out the layout of the stadium & feeling sad that it was covered in BBC Portakabins. My only other memory is as a small child driving past on a coach when it was all lit up one night, must have been open, seemed massive

Good grief. Don't tell me you're a bloody train spotter as well as a Hoverfly supporter. That would be just tooo good. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My ex father in law was the head honcho at the long gone but lamented Waterman Railways, I even turned down a hotplate ride on the Flying Scotsman, which he owned at the time!!. What worries me is that you new he was into trains, not a well publicised fact Lt, which must make you a closet spotter........................... Tell me, is it just trains or buses/planes/ferries etc? that you like to spot? And can you get the anorak over the dengarees?

I'll give you bloody Ganglion!! A ganglion cyst is a bump or mass that forms under the skin. Most commonly, ganglions are seen on the wrist (usually the back side) and fingers, but they can also develop on the shoulder, elbow, and knee. These form when tissues surrounding certain joints become inflamed and swell up with lubricating fluid. They can increase in size when the tissue is irritated and often can "disappear" spontaneously. These masses or cysts appear to grow sometimes but they are not tumours or cancerous. Pah!! Bring it on Lionsha"^er I'm sure Rick understands, He probably has been to/through the county of the Damned!! Ps, I did mention Waterman, I even new him, friend of my ex father in law & at least 10 years older than he claims

If we are going for memories......... Well when Rick first arrived, he was billed as then next big thing & although he struggled, he won the hearts of the Bees fans from the start. The struggle to get the 6.5 average to enable him to come back, thanks to Kelly or shawn Moran? I joined the army in 83 so missed a few years, but manage to get back to it in 87 & remember seeing the same rider with JJ as an awesome pairing at 4 & 5, both true team men & an awesome combination throughout 87 & 88. then dropping to reserve after a bad start & a 21 point maxium at Kings Lynn from No 7................ awesome to watch............... From then on in he got better, world final appearance, the testomonial, I can still see Per Jonsson's face on the bungee, pure terror, but respect he jumped.. I understand why Rick packed in, due to a pay cut I think, but hey, he packed in too soon............ Great memories of him though & of a purple period form the Bees' I suppose as supporters we all have golden periods, this was mine....Tk, KT, Rick, JJ, Andy Hackett, Dave Bargh Gary Gugliemi, until he blew it, literally

    Rick Miller

Nice to see you back Rick, as I have said great memories of your days at Brandon, especially you & JJ at 4 & 5. Fantastic. Just a couple of questions. Do you keep in touch with any former riders & what are they up to now if you do? I have looked at the link you provided above & why after 12 years since you finished speedway do you still look so depressingly healthy? You don't seemed to have aged one bit, whats the secret
  22. Dave67

    Tommy Knudsen

I think it depends on your age tigerblade, some will say Nigel Boocock, some Olsen, some TK. Although Olsen dragged Cov forwards, I think TK has the edges as a Bees legend, however, I only saw Booey towards the end of his career, so cannot comment on him.
  23. Dave67

    Tommy Knudsen

So many fantastic memories of watching him race, Cov through & through, the one that sticks though is 1979, he was at #7 in the old heat where 2 & 7 raced together, Ivan Mauger was bought in as a tactical & Tommy wiped the floor with him from the tapes. Pure class even in his first year. I think his back injury happened in Renmark Australia either 89 or 90, he still came back though. I remember his comeback meeting, never heard a bigger cheer for a rider passing a 3rd placed rider breaking down Would be nice to know what he is doing now, he seems to have disappeared from the speedway world.
