Australian championships 2023 final round North Brisbane Wednesday January 11th

No, he's still a New Zealander -
The line ups for today's (November 19) triple header of NSW junior solo speedway championships (500cc U21, 250cc U16, 125cc U16) at Loxford Park, Kurri Kurri. Apparently at Kurri Kurri there are no issues with the current floods, which have caused Mildura to postponed tonight's Jason Lyons Trophy meeting, and the up-coming Victorian sidecar title event.

Jaimon Lidsey has won the Victorian State title last night at Mildura.

Polish Ekstraliga 2 ( old Div 1) Tuesday 30th April Live on TV
Bavarian replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
He is one of the All-Time Greats and it is such a shame that he was never given a full run in the SGP series. All he had was a couple of wild card appearances in the Latvian GPs at Daugavpils. -
Polish Ekstraliga 2 ( old Div 1) Tuesday 30th April Live on TV
Bavarian replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
yes, always been that way, because the majority of the population in the Daugavpils region have Russian roots. No less than a quarter of the Latvian population speek Russian as their first language. Grigory Laguta has his wife and child in Latvia, and I read that by now he even has a Latvian passport himself, along with his Russian passport. He has apparently been offered a job with Lokomotiv Daugavpils to work as a coach for the club's junior riders, but he has declined the offer. Anyway, he will not be able to ride for them in the Polish League, because PZM simply won't allow it. Grigory was quite succesfull in the Russian League this year. He was the team captain of his original home town club Vostok Vladivostok and guided them to the league championship. Further he also became the Russian Individual champion of 2022. -

Highly unlikely that he will be allowed to ride in Polish League again. I doubt it. -

I wonder if DISCOVERY/EUROSPORT consider Spain as one of their future new markets for the Speedway Grand Prix? By the way, the last speedway rider representing Spain in International events (he rode in a European Championship qualifiying round about five years ago) was Facundo Albin, an Argentinean with Spanish ancestors and dual nationality, who was based in Spain for a couple of years. He is now back in Argentina though.

Well, there were another two New Zealanders, who rode in Paris. That's Stewie St.George (though he rode at another Paris track at St.Ouen back in 1928) and Charlie Blacklock (1932/34).

In 1935 a New Zealander by the name of "Thomas" rode in a couple of meetings at the Stade VĂ©lodrome Buffalo in Paris, France. He was in the line-up of nine riders on Sunday, September 1, 1935, for the "Championnat du Monde de Dirt Track", the unofficiall world championship, which was contested in Paris annualy from 1931 to 1935. He was referred to as Gene Thomas and as Clem Thomas in a couple of French newspaper reports, but the French press was never that accurate when it came to the correct names or the nationalities of the dirt track riders. It could very well be Wally. The only other New Zealanders that ever rode in Paris were Spencer Stratton and 'Mac' Sillick.

Bit shaky camerawork, but the ten minutes of this 8mm silent home movie of a USA v WORLD Speedway test match in 1974 at Costa Mesa, California, is nevertheless worth watching.

They promised a lot, but delivered very little. My interest in the SGP series has never been less than this year. -
2023 GP line up/wildcards
Bavarian replied to eric i's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well, I'd rather give it to Kai Huckenbeck, who is probably the better option right now. Smoli will be 38 in December, a bit late to make a comeback in the SGP series. But there is also talk that Nicki Pedersen might get a wildcard in 2023 to stir up the GP series again. -

Bavarian replied to eric i's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
yes, indeed, if there are two SGP in Germany next year, it is rumored that either Huckenbeck or Smolinski would be given a permanent wildcard. -
This artificial points system is really a mess. I don't like it at all. No one has a clue now durign the meeting re. the overall world championship points standings.

SEC finals Final round Pardubice Friday September 23rd live on Polish TV and PPV
Bavarian replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
I read that the East German authorities have acutally used the blueprint of the Pardubice track when they built the Wittstock track.
