    Punch Up's

Hee hee, sounds like him, I used to love watching him at Eastville, Bristol. He was forever being excluded, cutting people up, knocking them off etc. What a charachter! Made me wonder how he made a living from it ..... Sandman - it sounds like you knew him personally?

    Punch Up's

Gresh had a go at alot of riders, very very short tempered, he had Briggo by the throat on the floor. Also punched John Davis off his bike in full flight - lethal ! Almost put Nigel Boocock in hospital one night because he `got in the way` and that was his riding partner. (at Bristol) ...... Also the rider with the surname Tockz or something like that, he nearly killed him !

    Ted Laessing

Ted`s shop (Maximum Racing) is now called `BURNOUT BIKES` the present owner bought the premises from Ted. He`s got Teds old 2 valve JAWA and `monkey mask` which he displays in the shop window. Ted supplied the fuel and oil at Bristol speedway . Shop is situated on the main road thru Downton on the A36 Salisbury road. Ted is of German origin.(according to the present owner)

Did Bruce Penhall Ever Ride @ Bristol ?

Remember the night well, Bruce did ride at Eastville that night, incidentlly it was the night Bruce Cribb had talks with the Bristol promotion- and then joined the `Bulldogs` shortly afterwards (following week)

    Eastville, Bristol

Not forgetting Plymouth too! They also rode as the `Bulldogs` > 1961 when Eric Salmon moved the team there after Bristol closed. Maybe they could drop the `Devils` and make it 4 teams ! (ha ha)

Hello Gresham, glad the website and its contents are making you happy! Its good to hear from old Bulldogs fans. Got loads of pictures here of your hero `Gresh` also emails from him from last year. - The land you mentioned is South Glos council - you got no chance.....

    Eric Salmon

Hi `Knowle` good to hear from you again - hope all is well. Thats terrible news about Eric - another great Bristol rider gone, Cliff Cox , Mike Beddoe and Eric all in the space of one year - traggic.

    Derek Hole

Thanks `Chopper` Its a shame hes gone. On the subject of riders `marrying into the Hole family` its deffinately Eric Salmon who married their sister. ref:- "Bristol Bulldogs" - by Dave Wods & Geoff Rose

    Derek Hole

Does anyone know the where- abouts or remember former 1970s Bristol rider Derek Hole ?

    Bristol Bulldogs 1977 / 1978

I thought they were brilliant team riders - if they got in front NO ONE got past - if anyone did they - got hit off ! Langli always looked too big for his bike and Gresh was an `animal` Someone once called them the `testosterone twins`

    Bristol Bulldogs 1977 / 1978

You can see Bob Coles on http://motospeedway-espana.com - Tormod broke his arm badly in a hang gliding accident effectively ending his speedway career (even though his career in England ended when he asked for a transfer from Halifax Dukes and no one wanted him!) - a shame as he was a good rider.

    Bristol Bulldogs 1977 / 1978

Bob Coles was actually on telly last week - riding a speedway bike at the new Almeria track in southern Spain where he now lives, Tormod is involved with Renault Alpine car driving, he also has his own Renault dealership in Posgrunn in Norway
