I'd quite agree. One of the biggest draws of Somerset moving into the Premiership is that we now get to see the likes of Chris Holder, Jason Doyle etc etc on a regular basis - Imagine explaining to some newbie that Kings Lynn are at Somerset on Friday with one of the top riders in the world..... Except he isn't actually riding as he's otherwise engaged so can't make it! That will have a knock on effect on the crowd for sure.

Time For Brits First. No More Aussies To Uk Speedway.
Najjer replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
To be fair to him, I don't think that's a reasonable arguement as Poole do have Brady Kurtz and Jack Holder in their side - who are in the exact mold of rider SS has spoken about in his opening post. For what it's worth, I have no problem with riders 'using' the British Leagues as a period of development for want of a better term. At Somerset we have had our fair share and it's been great to have Kurtz, Jake Allen, Sam Masters etc in our side when we've bought them over. The problem for me comes when Poland comes a calling and Britain goes onto the back burner. As soon as Poland starts taking priority is the time when I would stop using these riders - regardless of which country they are from. -
Certain I read on the GP site that Swindon and Kings Lynn have signed theirs for Doyle and Holder too.

Some time ago now but I recall him coming over one year at press and practice.
-
I wonder if his biggest downfall now could be how many meetings he will miss due to his Ipswich commitments.
-
Have you been listening to Middlo again? Reminds me of a comment he made about Darcy Ward and other teenagers.
-
Kasprzak has ridden at the OTA before anyway, so it's not new to him.
-
You still don't get it, do you?
-
Are you this thick on purpose or is it part of an act? If it's not an act, then words literally fail me....

He was sensational at home and away on the big tracks in the league. Didn't he finish with a home average well over 10?? Interesting.
-
How did he?? He said he's looking forward to everything! I would assume the same thing - and would start as favourites I would presume.

Just because they are an asset, doesn't mean anything when it comes to team building. Other than getting paid a loan fee (which isn't alot I'm told) then their isn't much of an advantage of having a long list of assets. Somerset have been shrewd in that we have priority for all of our riders this season when I believe only Jake Allen and Paul Starke are actually club assets.
-
I believe he was still ours - Although happy to stand corrected on that.

Even the team that wins the league, their total team average will drop I'd imagine. Somerset won the league last year and whilst I can't remember the exact figure our team ended on about 47.50 or so. The points limit previously has been 42.50 because that's the average figure every team should be on after 15 heats of speedway. All this about teams won't be able to make changes is nothing short of rubbish. It'll be no different to how it's always been as everyone will then achieve their correct figure and not an inflated one.

Maybe after a few meetings if we haven't got on very well, but not before.
-
Great news - That explains one of the blank dates at the start of the season!

Interesting article on Peter Kildemand: http://www.speedwaygp.com/news/article/5519/pk-rules-stopped-somerset-move

100% agree. Somerset's prices have gone up again this year, which is understandable in the sense that we've gone up a league - but probably underlines how overpriced the original Premier League has been for quite some years across the whole league.
-
I'd fancy us to turn them over to be fair. Come to think of it, I think both us and Leicester could turn Swindon over too!
-
... and rule 3 too, meaning we have priority.
-
Apologies, 3 weeks even!
-
2 weeks before our first meeting - one would assume there is going to be a challenge match inserted in the gap?
-
Steve I think more often than not you usually post some quite good stuff on here, but these two posts look way off the mark.
-
I was assuming the two that are listed in a row, will actually be one or the other.
-
Anyone else noticed that we have Kings Lynn down for two weeks on the trot potentially at home? I'm assuming the home fixtures against Coventry is also a mistake as two of the later dates should say provisional, based on the outcome of today's doings at Coventry. Looks like we've managed to do quite a few home/away ties against the same club within a few days. It's a shame they don't bring back the bonus point over 2 legs aswell as the new points scoring so there is an aggregate score to race for aswell.
