  1. I went to Grindsted prior to Vojens this year and have to say I was very impressed with the place. Don't know what the black stuff is that they use for the track but it certainly did its job soaking up loads of rain. One thing though the five man teams was poor. Too much of the same riders and a heat two crash saw a cople of riders being ruled out which meant four man teams and races with only three riders which is never good. That would have been a very long walk

Yeah five man teams does mean too much repetition, i'd rather see 7 man teams even if they use 2 more juniors each. At least i didn't see any riders ruled out, no accidents at all in fact. Will go back as a nice place and very easy trip, but probably for an individual event unless they change the format.

  2. Just back from lovely blue skies in Billund to a grim washout here in London, still it could have been the otherway round so i dont mind!

Well Grindsted face relegation now unless Holstebro cant keep their superliga place for financial reasons, which is a pity, but they lost the lead about half way through, once Jedrezak got going, Kylmakorpi didnt have one of his better meetings, shame Jonsson couldn't make it due to his engine problems. No one really stood out just that Madsen, Pytel+ Jedi slightly outpointed Bager, Sundstrom and Kylmo.

Not a big fan of the five man team format, feel a bit short changed with the amount of riders on view(Anyone know why they use that format?)

However some decent racing in lovely weather with a nice beer, cant be faulted.

Big thanks to the announcer whose name i didn't catch for giving me a lift back to Grindsted after the meeting or i would have been stuck walking miles back to my airport hotel, and best of luck to Grindsted for next year. :approve::approve:

  3. Next up for me is the flight to Billund Denmark on Monday morning and the short journey then to see this fixture on Monday evening.

Have just seen the prospective line up's on their website but listed to ride are Leon Madsen(Poole, riding that night), Ulrich Ostergaard(Belle Vue, riding that night and injured?) Linus Sundstrom(Rye House-Injured?) and Hening Bager(Is he still riding in Uk lost track with his changes in clubs?). So something not quite right especially with Madsen's listing?

  4. Just back from my trip. Without Pawlicki, Janowski dominated from start to finish on his home track much to the crowds delight(Not many there though).

The best part of the meeting for me was the performance of 15 year old Lukasz Sowka to finish third! Never heard of the lad before but he showed real craft and bravery and finiished ahead of the likes of Musielak, Sperz and Lampart, so Ipswich get your chequebook out, i will accept 10% commission!!

Bit of a gap between the top 8 or so and some of the others who looked very raw and kept falling off(In heat 11 no one finnished the race after 4 attempts!).

Some good passing and well worth the £3.50 for entrance and prog!

Will go to some league meetings next season once the fixtures come out and already cant wait. :approve::approve:

  5. I hope i dont curse myself by posting this as this is the fourth time i will attempt to go to Wroclaw(One time postponed due to German gp fiasco, one rain off which thankfully i predicted in advance and one family crisis). I know the track aint so hot but i've always wanted to see the city itself and get to see most of the best young Poles(Minus Pawlicki boo hoo!) and it's only 10 zlotys to get in!

Weather is set fine, ive got the currency, a central dive booked and the obligatory early flight from Stansted, will report back at the weekend, before i jet off agan to Denmark on Monday! Then it's watch out Glasgow on the 20th(It's what redundancy payments are made for!!) :approve::approve:

  6. Just got back from the Vargarna meeting, can confirm that Shields was mighty impressive for one just returning from injury.Crump of course was flying but had little support, they really missed Richardson, Pavlic carried on his poor uk form, Ljung looked past his best, Jonasson had engine troubles and Hampel was inconsistent.

As for Vargarna only Screen didn't do much(And the fans i was with were angry that he was riding at all!). Kim Nilsson very impressive, could be a good buy for a Uk club. Scott rode hard on a track hard to pass on, Miedzinski, Kasprzak, Skornicki all chipped in too.

Not as good as the meeting i saw there against Vastervik but i was maybe too tired to enjoy properly(Those pesky early flights!)

  7. And i will be there i think, as i've decided at the last moment to not go to Motala for Pirartana v Rospiggarna but back to Norrkoping instead for this one(Partly because still knackered from Workington and easier to go to track you know how to get to, and partly because both Jagus and Balinski not riding now at Motala so will go see the Brits v Crump and co instead and go to Motala next year).

  8. I sent a portrait foto of both Max and Kevin....so if you are talking about his style i guess they didn't use my pix

Pity about the rain-offs.Hope Kevin has a few chances to ride over there this year.Pretty sure he wants to

Surely Kevin has been offered a ride/place by someone, he's such an obvious talent. With Dilger and Facher now in the UK do you think others will follow, Speiser, Pudel etc. Would Stange want another crack at it in Uk if given the chance?

Hope wherever Kevin ends up riding there's decent notice of his whereabouts so i can get an affordable train ticket to the meeting!

  9. Must admit i'm generally impressed, she seems to be making a big effort to learn the in's and outs and is very enthusiastic, though i wish Sky woldn't insist on quite so many post race interviews, there's only so much that can be said about even the best of races!

When i got to Ipswich very early before the sky match, she was working very hard studying the programme, speedway star and some other papers, though what impressed me the most was the beaming smile she gave me when i walked past!!

BTW my wife is convinced there is sexual chemistry going on between her and a certain Danish rider??

I obviously can't tell me wife that Charlie's actually smitten with me!!!

  10. nice to hear that you enjoyed the visit to Norrköping. :)

If i where you. If possible i would make a trip one week later then your originally planned and

visit Piraterna at Motala on the 25th of August for the meeting between Piraterna and Rospiggarna and then travel

north to Eskilstuna on following wednesday (26th) for the Division 1 meeting between Team Bikab (Smederna's Division 1 team) and Stjärnorna.

How ever you will need a car to be able to get from Eskilstuna to Smedstadion for the Division 1 meeting since there are no

bus connection for the Div1. meetings at Smedstadion.

Motala is some 150 km west of Nyköping/skavsta and some 170km southwest of Eskilstuna.

    Hi Johan,

I'm weighing up your idea of going to Motala on 25th, seems to take about 2.5 hours on train from Nykoping, so could get to motala by about 1.30pm, though would have to get up about 5am to get back in time, as i cant stay for a second night as i dont want to be divorced!!Any idea where it is in relation to the centre of town?

Is the transfer window closing today? any last minute deals, especially interested in if Vaculik will get a new team as he's high on my wish list of riders i want to see!

  11. Just back from my trip to see Vargarna v Vastervik. Really enjoyed it, weather stayed good, racing was good and the match evenly poised until the end. Sat with lots of pissed Vastervik and cheered on Bomb Ber(As they called him) and Gollob with them, though Laguta was better than Tomasz. However Vargarna's strength in depth won it in the end and Tai and Scotty did their bits though Eddie K though never far behind didn't score many points. Mind you Miedzinski didn't do him any favours, team riding obviously not his strong point!

It rained heavily as i left Norkkoping this morning so was extra lucky with the conditions. Now just have to decide where i go in August instead of Smedarna!

Thanks again for all your help everybody.

  12. Granted some of the comments do sound like veiled racism.......but there are some truths being expressed. It should be appreciated that speedway in Poland equates with football in this country, and has a lot of the same problems.

Segregation at big matches, 'Ultras' that collect in their own section of the stadium, and a large following of ''young men'' who like a drink or twelve.

Move some of these fans to a foreign environment en masse and you get the same sort of issues that many England football followers have created across Europe for years.

I attend league football regularly in England and rarely see trouble these days, but there is always that underlying threat, (and it would be more than that without the segregation of opposing fans.) Equally, I have been fortunate at Cardiff to avoid any problems of the kind recorded by others in this thread, but people don't make this kind of thing up for fun........and perhaps thoughts should be given by the organisers as to how these things could be avoided in future.

Cutting down on the provision of 'six pints at a time' sales at the bars would probably help, but I cannot see the stadium wanting to lose that revenue.

I've no doubt there were some out of order Polish fans, and some British ones too by the sounds of it, but what kind of idiot posts comments advocating violence against Poles per se, i'm sure the Polish people who post on here feel disturbed by these comments. I always hoped the many comments on here along the lines of 'No more Poles' was purely out of frustration at some Polish riders not being able/willing to appear full time for their British clubs, but this incident has let all kinds of bigotry out onto the forum!

Sure i've been disturbed by people drinking too much at Cardiff, sort it out by all means but don't let some turn it into an excuse to create divisions.
