I'm sure I remember him doing better than Cook. -
Fixed race nights... early indications!!!
SPEEDY69 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I've only been able to get to one meeting so far this year - for me the fixed nights are sending me away from the sport. -
Peterborough v Workington Championship - Friday 11th May

I fancy Workington to win this one. -

I don't think Cook should be in the team. It's a real shame Worrall is injured - when does he expect to return? I'd go with Woffinden, Worrall and Lambert if possible, if not then Bewley instead of Worrall -

Spot on. -
So why was that not on the BSPA announcement?
-
Why? Has he broken a nail or doesn't want the embarrassment of finishing down the field. Saying he's withdrawn without a reason leads to speculation. No shows are also one reason i cannot warm to him.

Polish Speedway compared to British Speedway
SPEEDY69 replied to mike1944's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It seems to me that British fans of many sports like nothing better than to moan about how bad things are or have a pessimistic outlook. Davis Cup tennis fans are an exception to that. As for Poland, I'm sure it's nothing to do with the level of alcohol consumed -
Kings Lynn V Poole 25/04/18
SPEEDY69 replied to therefused's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He didn't have a passport, he now has and should also now have a visa. Can't see why it's still being referred to as 'personal issues'. Meetings are being called off this year if there appears to be anything other than a dry week, certainly at some tracks. With the weather being so changeable I think this could spell the end for Professional speedway in this country as we gradually lose any sort of continuity and the fans disappear. I've watched loads of rain affected meetings before and those run of very wet surfaces - many of which have been really entertaining. -
No idea where in the USA I'm afraid. Maybe Cody racing/products could help.

Wolverhampton v Rye House 16/4/18

Blimey, it's no wonder we are where we are in Britain, talk about glass half empty. No matter the results etc. I always will my team to improve and look and the optimistic side, it's a real chore being miserable about it. Some matches are like that and results will topsy turvy throughout the season. To me, UK speedway is a lot less predictable than Poland, as is Sweden. The meetings I've seen in PL this season have been fastest bike wins, once they've done the first bend but many seem to like it. Rye will have some good results this year, you can't win em all -
Peterborough v Redcar C Sunday 15th April

Hooray for that. -
If they really did go at full speed into bend 3 then they obviously didn't think the track too bad. Experience helps sometimes.

Poole v Belle Vue SGB Premiership A. 11th April 2018
SPEEDY69 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think Worrall is the best British rider riding in the UK. Fast starter and quick around all track sizes/shapes, should be British Champion this year. -

Full text from The Mirror says "CHRIS ON HOLD NO LONGER: Poole star Chris Holder, 30, has been given the green light to start racing again. The Aussie hasn't had a work visa while waiting for a new passport, which has finally arrived. He said "It's been a rocky start." -

In the paper today it says Holder now has his Visa so can return to racing. -

Wonder if Nicholls we be aboard his 'sometimes make a decent start' GM or his 'oh dear I'm last to the first bend' Godden tonight Leicester could do some damage here. -
Worrall was a cert for British Champion this year in my view, our best World Cup rider last year and started in great form. Maybe he won't be out as long as some fear.

Lakeside v Peterborough frid 6th april 8 pm CS
SPEEDY69 replied to waco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As a fellow Godden tester, is Ellis using his tonight or is it just Nicholls? It looked slow last night at Foxhall, @ryehousefans had better hope he's aboard the GM for their matches. -
Ipswich v Peterborough CS 5-4-18@7-30pm
SPEEDY69 replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Even though this finished early the lack of a PA system for half of the meeting I felt it went on longer. Nicholls looked painfully slow on the new Godden in his first two rides and couldn't seem to get off the start but upped the pace at the end. Ostergaard impressed for me, along with Schlein. Reserves were the weak point for Ipswich but I expected that anyway. New track shape is meant to help the inside coming out and it looked like it did. -
I see nothing wrong with Grid Girls or whatever you want to call them. This is part of the whole industry called modelling/marketing. When Beckham wore tight pants to advertise the brand it was seen to be ok, when TV shows feature titillation such as Love Island or BB they get viewers. How many 'celebrities' promote themselves/their industry with revealing outfits/wardrobe 'malfunctions' etc. There were two shows on British TV just last week where men and women got their kit off to 'raise awareness' of cancer - was it strictly necessary? The fact is that image and sex sells - this applies to both men and women so does there need to be a ban in speedway? I find that offensive to my intelligence in that I can't be expected to make the decision for myself of whether to watch or not.

I see Nicholls was testing the new Godden engine. Anyone who was there, can you say how it looked compared to the others in terms of speed/ traction? -
What if they're all ready in advance of the 2 minutes, hang around?
