Some of the reactions on here are quite hysterical. A person committed a crime, was caught and served their time - happens all the time, get over it
As for other speedway riders, we've had alleged and convicted corruption, multiple drug abusers, alcohol abusers, violent criminals, including murder and many of these are/were warmly thought of e.g. Lee, Morans, Ward. Very few have no victims, the drugs trade sees many deaths and abuses of people across the world. If he wants to ride speedway then I have no problem with that.

I fancy an away win here 42-48

7 hours ago, Col said:Well Ipswich were fairly toothless, only 1 heat win prior to heat 14. Disappointing all round except for Dan Thompson who looks a far more accomplished rider than he did when I saw him last year. Racing wasn't great, especially to begin with. Lidsey v Sayfutidnov behind Cook being the highlight. Is that the first time Sayfutidnov hasn't won a heat in Witches colours? No-one will know how the EF affected him really, but Mountain was clear and Bewley had just sneaked past him.
He only scored four at Foxhall earlier this year and has not been at his best so far. Doyle is their inspirational rider so was a big miss but it's early in the season so no real damage to their playoff chances.

As some of the returnees to the league are finding out, riding in the UK is not as easy as they may have thought. Plymouth would actually give them a test and I'd love to see a top meeting there.

Probably rider availability?

1 hour ago, Barrow Boy 2 said:The poor crowd was certainly due to peoples doubts that it would be on and because it was available to view for £12.99 instead of £22. I expect there will now be many future meetings poorly attended due to the cheaper stay at home option. If a family watches it at home for £12.99 they will save say £37ish per family in admission fees. The very productive 50/'50 riders raffle will also be affected. Not good.
This is exactly why there must be more for people to do/attract them to the meeting in person. At Foxhall the prospect of standing out in the rain for 2.5 hours on a freezing cold night would have definitely reduced the crowd when it was available to watch on TV

I won't be attending in person, not for those prices and the prospect of a weather cancellation.

Need Bewley to be much better than that though, not good enough for a rider of his ability.
Weren't people saying that all of last season as well?

I think in his last ride he was onboard a lawnmower, sounded awful. That new boy Nicholls looks a good prospect though.

Janowski and Harris were both toilet tonight at Foxhall. As predicted before the season started their team is not that great but they can turn it around - will the management give them time? Boughen did really well to win a race ahead of Doyle.

Taxi for Palm Toft

Short changed with heat 15, Scott didn't look in difficulty in heat 14. Harris and Janowski poor for Oxford.

So, no Tungate tonight, now there's a surprise!

And also R Lambert for the last two years if there's to be equity.

Surely the justice system is there to punish those who deserve it. Once they've served this aren't they then given the chance to resume their place in society or should they continue to be punished for the rest of their lives? (And please don't think I'm condoning his past actions)

No, he isn't

Worrall had been pretty poor when I've seen him so far this season, he needs to improve.

Thompson will never make it above Div 3/2 level.

I thought he'd said recently that his enthusiasm was renewed?

Clubs are forced into having a rider they probably don't want. Brennan, Jenkins, Flint etc would have been picked anyways because there average was low so they could fit in more big guns. You can't tell me Joe T and Ashton are good enough to be in the premier league. Riders like Simon Lambert, Max Clegg etc could have been picked as a number 7 instead.
Joe T will never be but Ashton will.

The reserves will win it for Ipswich I think, with Doyle going unbeaten.

Only four points for him last week, so Witches fans will be hoping that was a blip

He was shocking at Foxhall too.

Without Nicholls I think Oxford would have lost
