BE will set the rent at whatever level they wish - maybe just to be bloody-minded if they lose the appeal.  I think Osborne said Poole's rent was currently £2.5k per meeting which is just for one sport at the stadium.

And Matt Ford said no problem to that and to whatever the stock car man might want, so all the talk about numbers at Swindon seems totally irrelevant.

Viability is still relevant to the BE case as they would still own the site and expect a 'healthy' rental from any users.

But no-oe is suggesting they won't get the rental. If the prospective promoters are happy to pay it I still don't see what crowd sizes at other tracks matter to this hearing. Have BE stated what rent they'd expect?

Looking forward to my final speedway fix on TV tonight. Whilst all us neutrals would like to see the aggregate outcome go down to the last couple of heats, I just cannot see Sheffield producing enough race winners. They need at least five more heat advantages than Ipswich. If Emil & Doyle are on it, the rest of the Witches won't need to do very much.

As the Aces showed in the semi, more than 18 can be made up so for me it's still very much in the balance. Sheffield's reserves should p all over Ipswich's and Lambert may well get at least four wins.

I just guess it is the hope of getting a tv deal for Germany, and maybe some sponsorship and exposure, and i am sure they will say in the hope of building the sport.

Trouble is Teterow is a stinker of a track. So the home GP won't particularly attract much, unless Huckenbeck gets into the final. The other problem really is even if he was a GP standard rider, he isn't a very publicity friendly sort of person. Not the out going sort like Egon Müller of Smolinski

So although i can understand to a degree, what they are trying to do. I don't think it will have much success

But Germany will pay to host a round if he's in it

I really don't have much issue with the GP challenge riders getting in. Its the wild cards that get me. The challenge has always had weaker riders getting in most years, its the way it is.

Huckenbeck and Lebedevs should be nowhere near the series. No where good enough.

If they want to nail the sport in Germany and Latvia, then maybe put on decent events with top class racing. Far more likely to bring in natives rather than them watching an off the pace Huckenbeck and out of control Lebedevs.

I agree with many who have stated that special spark of the GP series has faded now. There is absolutely nothing inspiring about the upcoming series.

Also, as much as I love the city of Cardiff and the stadium is superb, what is the point in holding the event there with 20000ish fans? Looks awful on tv. Should be moved to Belle Vue for sure.

Nope, could never agree with that. Nothing to do outside of the stadium, seating extremely limited (for the World Cup a few years the temporary stand were awful, people just peeing on the grass and food queues 2 miles long) and if it rains a totally wasted trip.  Fine if you only ever watch on TV.

  6. Surely viability is a question solely for those who are running or wish to run a club.  If it wasn't, they'd soon disappear.  Neither Poole or Swindon have done because of viability so why is it important if the crowd figure is 10k, 1k or 1, in terms of viability?

Why is it well said...Look I thought the track was rough and tricky but rideable .But what should it matter how many meetings Lambert has ridden for him to have a opinion. As I said the same for everyone is just a stupid kop out .Nearly as bad as have ever  ridden a speedway bike

I think the point is nearly all riders were getting around it perfectly well, including Lambert when he won his heat in the fastest time of the night. So what Guy may have meant by that I think is that apart from the serial whinger no-one else seemed to be moaning about it.

Is there an actual rule book description for bunching? I just assumed it was a general term for a coming together on the first bend.

I thought unless you were blatantly at fault - Segdmen at Redcar when he took-out Bailey, for example - the you were protected by the referee being conscious of a lack of space in the first turn, thus there’s a higher risk of collision.

Jason Doyle during the GP in Torun is a perfect example. He caused two stoppages of the same heat and Stevie Wonder could see he was causing these stoppages by running across and into opponents, but I was under the impression he was protected by the old first bend bunching.

If Pijper was the blatant cause of the stoppage, then Oxford have a right to be fuming.

There is no rule on first bend bunching at all. The rule they manipulate for this is 'unsatisfactory start', originally intended for the very initial part of a race.

Hume is young, still very raw but with the right guidance and someone taking him under there wing, he'll be a decent rider, time will tell.

Doyle isn't dirty, but he verges on the edge of it, he didn't leave Lambert any room and knew full well he was there, not a problem with it but a lesser skilfull rider would of been through the fence.

Speedway needs entertainment, rightly or wrongly people are talking about last nights meeting, which is the rarity for speedway nowadays!

Don't think so, he sits on the seat too much going in, making him more susceptible to grip changes in the bends, very difficult to guide this out of someone.

I can’t wait for Thursday, after all the moaning about Foxhall & the lack of spectacle. I’m looking forward some super close fast racing with passing galore on a excellently prepared Sheffield track, I just hope it’s not a super slick gaters paradise!

I'm hoping for Ipswich making the starts and staying there, with passing only when they don't make the start :)

That's the problem of qualifying rounds. Carry an injury, engine failure and you can be out in the blink of an eye. Happened on the lead up to one off world finals many times. That reality shows having human beings selecting who goes in and who comes out is a reasonable way of getting a GP line up. Problem then is every man and his dog on a forum want there voice heard. The selection committee has heard the call for fresh faces and delivered. Not to everyone's liking...but you asked, you got, suck it.

No moaning from me, I understand the commercial pressures.
