  1. Well I watched the GP on Sunday night and have to say frequently 'fast-forwarded' as I found it quite dull. Maybe it's because I prefer team racing than individual events or the fact there are so many GPs. I can't get excited about someone getting a couple of more points than someone else because it means nothing at the moment as it can all change dramatically.

I also wish people would stop slagging off riders with the same old arguments used before. They are in the series and trying their best - it's a completely different thing being on the outside to being in the series. Take F Lindgren - having perhaps a poor season outside the GPs but then wins one.

  2. You can learn from scratch with your own bike but please don't spend too much money on it - you might not like it! If you have a bike then there are amateur clubs such as www.southerntrackriders.co.uk or dragons and others. My advise would be go to a school first and hire a bike to see how you get on. You can also attend amateur meetings as they're usually free to enter and talk to people there.

  3. If it is Lanham then this makes them a stronger team, both home and away. One thing I am curious about is the number of crashes which happen at Foxhall these days - is it the crash captial of British speedway? I can't remember seeing many of the updates reports from last season in which 'fell' didn't appear quite regularly. MAybe last week was an exception but perhaps someone who goes to Foxhall could give their views on why so many crashes happen there in the PL.

  4. The difficulty with one word against another is proving it. What is clear from Kennett's statement is that the tampering was done to improve his performance (i.e. cheat) and not simply to repair or do anything cosmetic.

The speedway rules are quite clear in that it is the responsibility of the rider to ensure that their equipment (bike, helmet, drip mat, race suit etc.) is within the bounds of the regulations. When I was riding I made sure this was the case and that those who also worked on my bike knew what the rules were. Sorry Eddie, but whether you knew about the silencer or not makes not one jot of difference to the infringement and neither should it for the punishment.

  5. Hes been found guilty, theres no need for an admittion, but one might help him.

The silencer he was using was found to be against the rules but I've not seen anything which says he knew this was the case before he rode or that he deliberately wanted to cheat. So for me, there is a need for an admission or something to put his view.

  6. Instead of calling for him to be sacked, surely we should wait to hear Ed's views on this. The silencer was not as it should have been but was he really trying to gain an advantage?

This episode highlights for me that he will not be the only one. How many of the results this season can we really trust? What about all the other points he's scored this year? Some ridrs have appeared to be doing better/worse than you'd expect - are they victims or perpetrators? All silencers should be monitored/checked from now on. Sad times for Speedway.

  7. Are you saying that what we all saw Monday night did not happen, and it was just a bit of TV CGI? or are you just trying to excuse one of your favourite riders forceful barging as acceptable? if Harris had come off and been badly injured, would you still be spouting the same rubbish that the crash happened, but the TV made it seem worse?

You don't know me so don't pretend you do. Forum etiquette is not to attack the poster. My words were quite clear - sorry that you did not understand what I said.

Does anyone agree that this was Tai's best perfomance for some time and that it may just be that nursing his injury made him settle on the bike and keep it as smooth as possible ? Any coincidence that this approach made him faster ?

Yes, I think it was. Kelvin did make that comment about him having to be still/braced at the start and he certainly made good starts.

  8. Get over yourself ! It was an individual event which has no bearing on a team event. I recall 2/3 years ago in the GP Lukas Dryml not giving Nicholls a lot of room and Scott went into a round of fisty cuffs, but clattering into another rider is OK ?

Its just an opinion from someone who has seen the injuries caused to riders close to me, maybe I am touchy but I just don't feel that clattering into another rider is the correct way to pass, perhaps I am at odds with your view but don't use club loyalties to defend your views, it suggests a weak view !

If it was Nicki Pedersen in a GP there would be uproar.............No ?

As a former rider I can tell you that the contact between them on Monday was not dangerous, or intentional. If it was on the bend anywhere (as with Dryml) or up against the fence then there is a real risk one of them would fall off. They didn't, it was hard but fair - I get the feeling you don't like Scott so will never be convinced anyway..

  9. In poor taste! Lee has shown his commitment to the club since his arrival for which I applaud him. He was not everyones choice but has proved his worth and built up some real respect from the supporters and management.

You may think so, but this week's S Star shows it was all about money and quotes him as saying "It's like someone with a normal job having to work almost for free and go miles up to Scunthorpe, rather than go down the road and earn their normal living"

  10. British Speedway talent is getting worse on year on year and so are the British crowds. It really is one hell of a coincidence, isn't it?

Maybe Chris Harris and Scott Nicholls should follow Lee Richardson. It may give British Speedway the huge wake up call it so urgently needs.

It seems to me the sole reason he has quit is because of money and the effect upon his main sponsor. I agree with David Beckham in that you should never retire from international competition - when you are not considered good enough you will simply not be picked. If Gollob had done this when he was 31, look what Poland would have missed out on! Throwing riders into meetings where they are significantly out of their depth does nothing to improve them in my opinion and may have the opposite effect - have Kennett, Bridger, Allen etc. got any better since the World Cup a couple of years ago.

It's right that we don't seemingly do enough to support young British riders but when National League level riders demand vans and bikes before signing with a club, does this indicate they want make it to the top - run before you can walk would be my response. Top brits of the past made their own way through and there is not a lot to stop that continuing, other than teams signing untried foreigners in preference to a willing british rider and the average redcution shoudl be more in favour of the latter.

  11. It is always a great shame to read the 'snooty' posts about the PL - people forget that riders need to learn their trade.

If so called speedway supporters look down their noses at the PL and NL,where do the riders learn their skills?

We need to encouraging through our support of the up and coming. Let's face it British Speedway is sadly lacking in it British top stars. The EL is a place where the international riders 'pop' in a couple of times a week to boost their money.

It should always be remembered that NL and PL riders have something to prove wanting to progress, they are not all 'gate and go' that could be levied at some in the EL.

Real speedway supporters should be united by speedway.

I certainly don't look down my nose at the PL/NL and don't think I was being snooty or looking down my nose. I have also been regularly attending speedway since 1978 so don't think I am a "so called supporter either" so I hope you weren't including me in your post? Anyone who pays to watch/attend has the right to decide and my preference has been and always will be watching the top level of speedway in the UK. Some prefer F1 and other prefer karting, as they say you pay your money & take your choice.

  12. It goes without saying there will be more variety but to say they can rebuild is nonesense as they will just become a feeder club like every other PL team. Train up quality youngsters for the EL teams.

How can they make a quality asset base? Every time they get a special talent he will be gone in a season. And they have to go by the same rules as every other PL club so they won't be some strong juggernaut. Where is the infrastructure to get the youngsters coming through the NL ranks?

To make money and be successful you need to put together a winning team. The Louis have failed miserably at this in the last 10 seasons. So a drop down will solve these problems? Al it will do is lose a great big chunk of their fan base who won't want to watch PL racing, and their top riders past their best several seasons ago.

Much more sensible to go out and get some decent talent into the team and get rid of the Slabons and Miskowiaks.

It's not often I agree with you but I do in this case. I will not be attending if we take the drop and the money I save I can spend on a sky sports subscription. I do not accept that more teams makes the racing any better and if you are at the bottom of the PL is that better than the bottom of the EL? A lot of people seem to be assuming that we would put a out a title challenging team at PL level - there's no guarantee of that. I like to watch some of the world's best riders and with no disrespect intended, anything more than £10 to watch PL is too much.

  13. Think bombers chances of qualifying are increasing with every gp . he certainly rode with more vigour last night

If he qualifies from the challenge, which I think he will, there are no arguments. If he doesn't then he doesn't deserve a wild card pick. He has never qualified by right for the Grand Prix and cannot be given any more handouts - but like I said, I don't think it will come to that. I also think Lindgren & Woffinden should be dropped if they don't make it either.
