    Leszno Gp May 10th 2008

Yup decent GP, but I get so frustrated that after every 4 heats they water and grade all the joy out of the track. Just as a dirt line develops they obliterate it. I know it is for the sponsors but it has a really negative impact on the racing
  2. Poznan v Bydgoszcz, another belter, you guys are spoilt!! Loved the starts marshalls outfit, like something out of Trumpton and then his wee wave as the tapes went up, bless The wee Russian, Johnson and Jooooonas were superb entertainment with Norbert Kosciuch catching the eye for Poznan. Crowd didn't look that great although still bigger than every elite league club Thanks as always
  3. Yes another great meeting, what a track that is! Oliver Allen was very entertaining until he was taken out. Thanks again
  4. Cheers Rico, sorry I should have been paying attention.
  5. Must admit having read the earlier comments headed straight for heat 10 and the six heats that followed were sublime Sajfutdinov - if he somehow stays fit will be a sensation in the grand prixs - just what it needs, a new man to take it to new frontiers He and Harris should entertain us for years to come. It really is sad to see Simon Stead still not kicking on, he was virtually unbeatable around Glasgow for a few seasons. Anyway thanks Lawrence great stuff, who are you racing next week? Are they any good?
  6. No worries I will try and catch it later this week, Champions league for the next couple of nights
  7. Come on Lawrence rescue me from this dire Elite league racing, bring on some Polish action!!!!
  8. Cheers, great answers.
  9. The TVP net coverage has ignited my interest in Polish speedway, even watched the magazine programs, wifes going ballistic Just checked out the speedway plus website, and there are some photos of the Chorzow stadium which looks great. However I don't see them listed as a current team, did they go bust or are they now known by a different name, any info would be appreciated. From what I can gather. Leszno - Are the current powerhouses with an awesome team and great crowds. Zielona Gora - Passionate fans, knackered stadium, they will be my team, I used to work for Mickey Mouse Gorzow - Young upstarts, great new stadium, millionaire backer?oh and now Gollob Czestochowa - World Champ, anything else? Torun - Hooligan fans? Rzeszow - Pi$$ Poor Tarnow - Recognise the name as being a strong team from years gone by but this year they look awful Wroclaw - Faded Granduer? the Belle Vue of Poland, am I off the mark? 1st Division Gdansk - Look the part, have they been an Ekstraliga team in the recent past Polonia Bydgoszcz - Matueszs team, spiritually Gollobs home, shock relegation last year, good colours Ostrow - Naughty boys Any other big players in this league? Who have been the top teams since the start of the 90s? Would appreciate any links to Polish Speedway websites written in English so that I can fill in the gaps in my knowledge also a map showing the Polish speedway clubs Cheers

    International Speedway On Tv

Yup a great meeting, loving all this Polish speedway!! Fantastic racing and big crowds. This was definitely the best meeting so far, and the wee Russian is going to be a Superstar, might even attract one or two of the Russian billionaires into our sport Can but hope. I loved the crowd at the Zielona Gora meeting so passionate!! Can you buy Polish speedway merchandise online?

    Scottish Open

Excellent meeting, soured by Stoneys crash one of the most concerning I have seen Woffinden was fantastic, the control he showed was very impressive, whats he like on big tracks? as lets face it, Rye and Armadump don't count for much on the continent. Really hope he plumps for Team Gb, as a team with Auty, Bridger, Woffinden and Harris really wets the appetite!! Can understand the dust complaints as I had to move myself, however that option was available so it no big deal. Super Kalle looks like one for the future and enjoyed seeing Complin for the first time bags of style
  14. Have to say Sky always come up with a great promo for Cardiff and this years is the best yet. Can't watch it without getting feeling 'I've got to be there' And I will be. Next year IMG must do something about the official adverts they are crud in comparison. The Sky advert would prick the interest of any casual viewer superb You got the love!!
  15. Having listened to Plant Speedways interview with IMG it seems pretty obvious that Australia will be targeted for a return to the Speedway GP series. The last Grand Prix in Oz was reasonably well supported with around 22000 there, although a lot of them were freebies if I remember correctly. I know the local promoter lost a shed load, something to do with clean up costs I think!! Anyway there are a fair few Aussies on this forum. What would be your recipe for success for an Australian Grand Prix? Date, location etc Should a visit back to the Telstra stadium be attempted again? or should Melbourne be targeted with its love of all things sport. How could it be made a success, free Bundy for all It is a shame that the worlds best rider cannot be supported by his own. Does Queensland have a suitable stadium, I can't think of one around the Gold Coast, but there must be one in Brisbane. When I was in Oz the only place I saw speedway mentioned was in back country Victoria and at Surfers Paradise. Which event attracted the biggest crowd during the winter Aussie title series? Anyway starting to ramble........

    The Big One

If I was to go to Poland to take in one league meeting, what meeting should that be? What is the big local derby? The meeting with the most passionate supporters on both sides!!!

Cheers Mateusz, nice website by the way, Rico looks sharp in his supporters club shirt

    The Big One

lol Rico, Thanks for the advice, I have enough trouble dragging the Mrs down to the bearpit of Ashfield so I know that 20000 nutty Poles would be a step too far. Looking forward to Wroclaw can't wait, is it normally t-shirt weather?
  19. The O2 arena is to open, shortly, is this a possible option for a Grand Prix? I have never been so have no real idea of the domes size? I am guesssing its no smaller than that upturned ships hull thing that they used in Norway. With a capacity of 23000 it could easily be a sell out? Any thoughts?
  20. I think IMGs involvement can only be a good thing, they are massive and are sure to open commericial doors previously closed to BSI. The future for British Speedway, I think depends on the prize money. Should these guys start to earn the money they deserve from the grand prixs then the incentive to cut down on their league commitments is obvious. So which league would win out? Can't see it being the Elite league, with the different race nights, unique tracks and poorer pay! Why bother! Will be sad to see but could prove the saviour for British speedway talent, however will Sky stick around?

    Wroclaw Tickets

I am fufilling one of my ambitions by attending a Speedway meeting in Poland. The atmosphere has always looked fantastic and whilst I wait for cheap flights to Bydgoscz from Scotland Wroclaw will do. I am dragging the wife along and our five month old daughter Super Lily. Staying at the Patio Hotel and would love to meet up with some of the UK Barmy Army. Anyway heres to a great long weekend in a great city by all accounts. Can taste the frothy stuff already
  22. £40 up, although would have prefered a GB/England victory
  23. FIM SPEEDWAY GRAND PRIX GOES GREEN BENFIELD Sports International, rights holders of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series, has announced Miljöpartiet de Grona, Sweden's Green political party as title sponsor of the FIM Scandinavian Speedway Grand Prix in a unique sponsorship deal. The event, that takes place on 23 August at Sweden's national sporting arena, Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, will be officially known as the FIM Miljöpartiet Scandinavian Speedway Grand Prix and is the first time a world championship motorsport has been sponsored by a political party, let alone endorse the sport's environmental principles. "We want to highlight to people that even within motorsport, environmental improvements can be made." explains Håkan Wåhlstedt, secretary Miljöpartiet de Grona. "Riders and fans alike can attend these events safe in the knowledge that you can protect the environment and still enjoy sports events like the FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series. "London based Benfield Sports International also has no contracts with tobacco advertisers for the Speedway Grand Prix Series, which is a welcome contrast to Formula One and other motorsports." concluded Wåhlstedt. John Postlethwaite, Chief Executive, Benfield Sports International commented: "Miljöpartiet de Grona has realised the huge media interest the Grand Prix Series generates in Sweden and Scandinavia and seized the opportunity to communicate their environmental message to a wider audience. We are delighted to welcome them on board. "I think it's important people realise that you can enjoy a wide variety of activities in life, whilst at the same time respect the environment we live in and that we will be leaving for our children." The FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series operates a number of environmental initiatives including: The 500cc motorbikes used by the 24 top riders in the world for the FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series world championship run on high-octane pure methanol, emitting insignificant levels of exhaust fumes. All bikes are fitted with silencers to reduce noise levels. The oil used is mainly rape-oil and engines without closed lubricating systems use a tray to collect the used oil, this is recycled via special stations in the pit area. Only high pressure water, with no added solvents or cleaning agents, is used to clean each bike. The track surface consists of natural shale and at the man-made tracks where the material is brought in to build a track, once it is removed it is either returned to the quarry or stored to be used to build another track. Makes me laugh the chilled out Swedes sponsor our sport for its environmental qualities whilst the British facist councillors ban it whenever a pensioner turns up there hearing aid. Oooh I can feel a sauna coming on Nice to know only high pressure water is used can't be bothered with that low stuff.
  24. Aaaaaaaahhhh I love the smell of common sense ;-)

    Green is good

Perhaps instead of champagne, the podium can spark 3 big doobies and the crowd can use rattles instead of the ozone destroying air horns ;-)
